I have been using this safety razor for about the last two months and can honestly say that it has made a huge improvement to my skin after shaving. I used to suffer quite a lot from ingrowing hairs; neck, chin and cheeks along with some strange 'dead' hairs randomly growing from my face. (previously shaving with one of these 5 blade razors) So I was forever checking my face over for these hairs or ingrowing sections. Since purchasing this razor and using the very good derby blades that come with the package I have not had any problems with my skin what-so-ever. No ingrowing hairs, no razor burns (didn't really suffer with this before hand)and the condition of my skin has also improved. And by this I mean that it is less dry, feels smoother and just appears to have a better 'glow' as I am not stripping out all the moisture along with several layers of skin. I have quite coarse facial hair but I only shave every 2-3 days. So I have been replacing the blades every 2 weeks. I could most probably get more out of them? but I have found that at this point they still shave very well without any excess tug on the skin. But considering that I have just purchased a pack of 100 of these blades from Amazon for less that £9 including delivery. That will give me almost 2 years of shaving blades. So not exactly wasteful!! but ensuring I get consistent great shaves. The razor itself is fantastic. Easy to change blades and clean with a great weight on it. You really just need to hold it near the bottom of the handle and let it glide across your face. No need to put any excessive pressure to drag it through your hair as this could lead you to cut and nick yourself a lot. (Thankfully I did okay on my learning curve, first couple of times you might but then it becomes much more second nature. It is a lot smaller than you imagine it would be..... Not a long handle but again you don't need a long handle as you are not holding and using this as you would have done previously with a disposable multiblade razor. Gently hold the handle and let the natural weight and sharpness of the blade give you a great shave. I would also recommend brush and shaving dish (I have found the shaving dish and creme to be much better to shave with as it dries out less on your skin. Maybe a little old fashioned as such! But you know what..... It provides such a great shave that those extra couple of minutes it takes really does make it all the worthwhile and I do actually like shaving again. Believe me, one very good single blade is giving me a much better shave that 5 blades dragging my skin behind a 'protection' bar. And this fantastic safety razor is a great product a a great price. Great Razor, fantastic shave and no more in-growing facial hairs to deal with. I would highly recommend this product for your shaving pleasure.

As someone who is new to the traditional way of shaving i struggled for a good few days to research every aspect from brushes, creams, soaps, razors and blades. I finally settled on this razor as it was rated highly by the vast majority of people on here with the added bonus that it came with 5 derby extra blades to start you off. The quality of this product is simply stunning, with the chrome finish being as good as you're every going to see on any object, everything lines up correctly and fits together perfectly... please note if you didn't already know that this is a three piece razor and the handle part simply unscrews from the top. Having received it yesterday i had my first shave with it this morning using one of the enclosed derby extra blades and are very please to report how good a shave it really is. Having been use to multi-blade cartridge razors in the past which would quickly dull and tug on hair and generally be unpleasant to use, with this i had no issues. Hair simply glided off in one smooth stroke and the safety bar is fixed in a decent position meaning cutting yourself is highly unlikely unless you do something reckless or try to shave to quickly. Small strokes are best i found and the included derby extra blades appear to be very sharp yet forgiving (i will place an update at the bottom regarding how many shaves the blade lasts). As for cleaning it is very straight forward, simply rinse under the tap and when you've finished then undo the razor and pat everything dry with some toilet roll to keep everything clean. I cannot state how well made this razor is and how good it feels with it being the right weight and the handle is spot on length wise. The shaving cream i bought at the same time as this razor is Proraso Shaving Cream Tube (150ml) ... which i can fully recommend to you as it cools your skin and provides a nice slick shave, also smells pretty good too. As for the razor... PROS: Gives a very close yet comfortable shave, hardly any irritation compared to cartridge razors, no tugging on hair, VERY WELL MADE IN ENGLAND (so supports jobs here at home), chrome finish is as good as I've ever seen!! CONS: As it's a three piece razor it is slightly more hassle putting it together than a two piece razor but i'm just nit picking! VERDICT: After watching YouTube videos and numerous reviews it became clear very quickly that this was one of the top "double edge" safety razors on the market. It looks great and gives a far better shave than any cartridge razor I've used although the blades play some part in that... i intend to try other blades when the 5 included run out, but for now i couldn't be happier with these derby extra blades which as i said earlier are sharp yet forgiving on your skin. The razor comes well wrapped with the blades inside a small cardboard box. As for the razor and the whole package i can FULLY RECOMMEND it to you. En termes de vitesse de rasage, c'est vraiment très rapide, beaucoup plus qu'un rasoir jetable à cause de la qualité du tranchant de la lame dont on a un vaste choix. Pour les débutants on prend vite le coup de main rien de compliqué. _Niveau défauts, je dirais que la texture du manche est trop lisse : ça glisse, le manche n'est pas assez ferme quand il est en contact avec de l'eau. un autre truc a préciser c'est qu'il est vendu sans aucune lame, donc prévoir un achat de pack de lames au préalable. en conclusion: excellente porte d'entrée je ne vois pas d'intérêt dans le rasoir jetable, le rasoir de sureté c'est plus rapide, efficace, et économique.

Premessa: non sono mai stato un "appassionato" della rasatura. Ho quasi sempre usato un rasoio elettrico per un'accorciatura frequente della barba e, al massimo, dei rasoi usa-e-getta quando volevo un risultato un po' meno casual nelle giornate un po' più speciali. Pensavo che l'unica alternativa professionale per farsi la barba fosse un rasoio da barbiere (quello a serramanico per intenderci): bellissimo da vedere, ma anche piuttosto pericoloso da usare, soprattutto per un principiante. Tuttavia, effettuando qualche ricerca sul web, mi sono imbattuto nei rasoi di sicurezza a doppio filo e ho iniziato ad approfondire l'argomento. Da subito mi sono sembrati il giusto compromesso tra sicurezza e rasatura a «culetto di bambino». Così, dopo qualche tentennamento iniziale, ho deciso di provare ordinando questo Edwin Jagger De89bl, a cui oggi, dopo poco più di una quindicina di rasature, non posso che dare 5 stelle. Il rasoio è pesante il giusto, l'impugnatura è salda e, sotto il profilo estetico, fa la sua figura. Da quando ho iniziato ad usarlo, parte della mia routine (quasi) quotidiana è cambiata. Il motivo è semplice: farsi la barba con un rasoio di questo tipo diventa un piacere, un rito che si pregusta anticipatamente, e non già una banale faccenda da "sbrigare". Inoltre, tutti quei consigli che a volte si sentono su come ottenere la rasatura perfetta (radersi preferibilmente al mattino; radersi dopo aver inumidito la pelle del viso con un panno caldo per qualche minuto oppure dopo una bella doccia calda; sciacquare spesso il rasoio mentre si passa sul viso; farlo con calma; lasciar agire per un po' il sapone da barba prima della passata ecc.) finalmente iniziano ad avere un vero peso perché si nota davvero la differenza. Con un usa-e-getta questa differenza esiste lo stesso, ma è meno marcata. Con questi ultimi, poi, si deve giocoforza passare premendo con una certa forza la lametta/le lamette sulla pelle e questo la irrita (e più lamette e passate si fanno e, ça va sans dire, peggio è). La stessa cosa non è vera per un rasoio di sicurezza a doppio filo poiché la lama non deve essere spinta con forza, ma va letteralmente lasciata scivolare sul viso. Come tutte le cose a questo mondo, ci sono anche dei contro. Principalmente ne ho individuati tre: la spesa iniziale, la tecnica e il tempo. Il primo è un falso problema: la spesa iniziale di almeno 40-50 euro (rasoio, pennello, lamette di ricambio, sapone da barba e utili lozioni pre e post rasatura) è ampiamente compensata dal fatto che un rasoio di sicurezza è "per sempre" come un diamante; oltre a questo, i costi successivi saranno una manciata di centesimi al mese: le lamette, infatti, si cambiano ogni 2-4 rasature, a seconda del tipo di barba, e il sapone da barba da riacquistare una tantum (similmente alla classica "schiuma"). Consiglio di invertire (sottosopra) il lato della lametta (svitando il rasoio) ogni 1-2 rasature in modo da farla durare almeno 2-4 rasature. Personalmente mi trovo bene con 2 rasature per lato e a tal proposito, dato che non ricordo mai quante rasature ho fatto con la singola lametta e in genere non mi va di ribaltarla a fine rasatura (se necessario), consiglio due piccoli trucchetti per chi ne fa due e due (ribaltando la lama) come me: 1. Usare sempre lo stesso lato della lametta per la prima rasatura (in genere ci sono dei numeri sulla lama per riconoscere i lati) 2. Se non avete voglia d'invertire la lama (a fine seconda rasatura) o cambiarla (a fine quarta rasatura) subito dopo la rasatura pari, semplicemente allentate un pochino la testina del rasoio in modo tale che la volta successiva questo particolare vi ricordi che è ora di cambiare filo (terza rasatura da iniziare) o lametta (prima rasatura con nuova lametta). Mi raccomando di controllare *sempre* che la testina sia ben avvitata prima di iniziare la rasatura! Al lato meramente economico, si aggiunga anche che l'impatto ambientale è sicuramente inferiore agli usa-e-getta: un conto è buttare una minuscola lametta, un foglietto di metallo in pratica, un altro è buttare un rasoio di plastica intero (o la sua testina). È un aspetto che, anche da solo, basterebbe e avanzerebbe per non usare mai più un usa-e-getta. Il secondo "contro", la tecnica, è il più impegnativo perché c'è una certa curva d'apprendimento da scalare. Se pensate di sapervi radere con un rasoio del genere dopo aver passato una vita farlo con gli usa-e-getta, beh vi sbagliate. Io stesso la prima volta non nascondo di essermi affettato con tre tagliettini il viso (niente di grave), seppure avessi già avuto modo di rubare molto con gli occhi dai vari tutorial che si trovano online prima di cominciare e, inoltre, mi fossi rasato prestando molta attenzione! Del resto, si sa, la pratica è diversa dalla teoria. Pian piano, dopo due o tre rasature, ho smesso di tagliarmi. La cosa importante è stata capire alcune regole di base da rispettare durante la rasatura: 1. Cercare di non passare mai il rasoio sulla pelle a secco e senza sapone (il rasoio deve scivolare senza sforzo); 2. Effettuare movimenti fermi e brevi (di pochi cm) correggendo l'angolo di del rasoio di volta in volta - infatti il rasoio non ha una testina snodabile, quindi queste correzioni sono necessarie affinché si possa mantere l'inclinazione ideale del rasoio, circa 30°, su una superficie irregolare come il viso; 3. Utilizzare entrambi i fili in modo uniforme (altrimenti perché ce ne sarebbero due?) e risciacquare spesso il rasoio in acqua tiepida durante la passata. Rispettate queste regole, la rasatura è piuttosto sicura, oltreché scorrevole, e si può iniziare a provare il piacere di radersi liberi, senza molte preoccupazioni, passando al livello successivo, ovvero il capire come radersi al meglio (dipende da come crescono i peli, soprattutto sotto il mento). La sensibilità della mano migliorerà di volta in volta (con gli usa-e-getta conta fino ad un certo punto) e la cosa bella è che più si va avanti più si presterà attenzione ai dettagli. Personalmente, dopo circa 10-11 rasature con questo rasoio ho iniziato ad essere quasi perfetto e, tutt'ora, ogni volta mi riesce un filino meglio della precedente. Oltre a questo, va detto che non tutti i tipi di barba prediligono lo stesso sapone e la stessa lametta. Personalmente, mi trovo bene con le lamette russe ASTRA e il sapone PRORASO per pelli sensibili, ma ho dovuto "provare" qualche alternativa prima di trovare l' "assetto" ideale. A tal proposito consiglio l'acquisto di vari tipi di lamette (vendono pacchetti assortiti anche qui su Amazon) ai principianti proprio per capire quale si adatti meglio al proprio viso. Passiamo all'ultima nota dolente... il tempo! Inutile nascondere l'evidenza, se si desidera una rasatura che si rispetti, essa si articolerà in tre fasi: preparazione, rasatura e post-rasatura. Un conto è sciacquarsi la faccia, spalmarsi un po' di schiuma da barba e passare velocemente qualche volta un usa-e-getta; un altro è ammorbidire la pelle sotto l'acqua calda (es. doccia), ammorbidire il pennello sempre in acqua calda, passare lo stesso nel sapone da barba e poi sul viso, radersi con il rasoio, risciacquarsi e rieffettuare la procedura dal pennello sul viso in poi una o due altre volte (rasandosi in altre direzioni), dopo di che strizzare il pennello, pulire per bene il rasoio, riporlo da qualche parte ecc. Le procedure di pre e post rasatura ovviamente possono essere molto simili tra i due casi, ma è chiaro che con un rasoio di sicurezza fanno più la differenza rispetto ad un usa-e-getta (anche per questo si parla di "rito"). Questo aspetto comunque migliora sensibilmente con la pratica. La prima volta a far tutto avrò impiegato mezz'ora, adesso con 10 minuti abbondanti me la cavo (e si può sempre rinunciare alla terza passata se proprio si va di fretta, accorciando ulteriormente i tempi). Ma il contro del tempo non è solo quello impiegato nel farsi la barba, è anche quello che si spende nello scegliere la giusta lametta e sapone di cui ho parlato alla fine del contro precedente. Tutte cose che, ovviamente, vanno messe in conto come "tempo perso" e che difficilmente sono esageratamente considerate quando si parla di usa-e-getta. Concludendo, come ho anticipato nella premessa, questo rasoio (e tutti gli accessori annessi) alla soglia dei trent'anni mi ha fatto scoprire il vero piacere della rasatura, lo stesso che notavo in mio nonno quando l'osservavo per minuti e minuti mentre era intento a radersi davanti allo specchio, non capendo cosa avesse da fischiettare felice. Un piacere che non avevo mai provato. Questi tipi di rasoi esistono da almeno 100 anni e difficilmente, visti i risultati che garantiscono, saranno del tutto soppiantati dagli usa-e-getta nonostante gli spot commerciali vogliano farci credere che esistono solo questi ultimi. Casi come questo fanno davvero riflettere sul fatto che "nuovo" non significa necessariamente "migliore" e che i nostri nonni, a differenza di noi, la sapevano lunga in fatto di barba e rasatura. Jahrelang habe ich überzeugt Systemrasierer verwendet. Mit diesem Rasierhobel bin ich unter die Hobelaner gegangen und kann dies nur empfehlen. Der Hobel fühlt sich in der Hand wertig an. Ich mag den klassisch stählernen Look. Im Vergleich zu den vorangegangenen Systemrasierern lässt sich folgendes feststellen: Nach einem Jahr Nassrasur mit dem Hobel muss ich sagen, dass die Rasur wirklich Spaß macht und sich gut, wenn nicht sogar deutlich besser anfühlt als die Rasur mit dem dem Systemrasierer. Die Rasur mit dem Systemrasierer empfinde ich insgesamt eher als lästig bzw. notwendiges Übel. Beides hat jedoch Vor- und Nachteile: Die Rasur mit dem Hobel macht aus meiner Sicht deutlich mehr Spaß, es hat etwas mehr Gentleman-Feeling bzw. Stil, wenn man so will. Der Rasierschaum wird nicht verschmiert. Jedoch muss auch der Winkel passen, was ein wenig Übung erfordert. Die Rasur dauert ungeübt deutlich länger. Anfangs fallen mehr Schnitte an. Mit dem Systemrasierer schneidet man sich offensichtlich gar nicht. Der Winkel lässt sich auch nicht variieren. Der vorliegende Rasierhobel kann sehr lange halten, die Klingen sind deutlich kostengünstiger im Vergleich zu Systemrasierern. Zudem ist der Rasierhobel eine umweltfeundliche Alternative zu Einwegrasierern, da (so auch dieser) aus Stahl bzw. langlebigen Materialien hergestellt sind. Ich verwende derzeit Klingen von Lord, die eine gründlichere Rasur mit einer schärferen Klinge bieten als die zuvor verwendeten Systemrasierer. Dadurch entstehen bei mir deutlich weniger Hautirritationen, wobei ich Klingen nahzu bei der Verwendung wechsel bzw. drehe (vier Rasuren auf eine Klinge, weil mit drehen der Klinge vier Klingenseiten zur Verfügung stehen). Das ist sehr sparsam im Verbrauch und kostengünstig. Mir ist zudem die Ästhetik wichtig, der metallene Rasierhobel hat ein extrem klassisches und zeitloses Design und fügt sich gut in mein Badezimmer ein. Ich würde ihn definitiv wieder kaufen und kann Klingen von Astra oder Lord empfehlen.

Tenho uma coleção de safety razors e não poderia deixar de ter um Edwin Jagger, uma marca tradicional e reconhecida no mercado. Considerando o custo-benefício, é uma excelente escolha: ideal para quem busca um barbeador de segurança fácil de usar, muito seguro e suave na pele (não achei nenhum pouco agressivo). A qualidade dos materiais é surpreendente e comparando com o preço de outras marcas (Merkur, Rockwell, etc), o produto se destaca ainda mais pelo seu valor.
