sourdough flavor without the starter!
I ONLY use Red Star yeasts as they are the MOST reliable in a recipe. I love sourdough, but having a starter and keeping it healthy isn't easy. Here, they yeast gives ANY bread recipe a sourdough flavor! The important thing to note is that this is meant for regular bread recipes - NOT actual sourdough recipes! - so that you use it correctly for the best results. When it is used correctly, the results in the breads are wonderful! This is a great new product where I can enjoy sourdough bread easily! Again, the flavor is great and it makes the bread rise beautifully... I LOVE it! Bread making is a fun, stress relieving activity - plus, you have nothing artificial in your bread... Try this! You will love it, too!

These are more like instant yeast than sourdough but do make good bread
These are more yeast than bacteria and actually close to instant yeast.. Makes great bread, but not the "real" sourdough taste. Taste does develop after a day or two, if it lasts that long. Even then not true sourdough taste and more yeast than bacteria which is another reason people buy to reduce yeast load.

Good product , red star always great, baked 25 years with using this company.

Bad Product
Do not buy! I tried multiple packets and none of them worked. The yeast was not active. I contacted the seller and they just told me nobody else reported this issue which I know is not true based on other reviews. Listen to the reviews and do not waste your money.

Not really any sourdough taste, but proofs and bakes well.
We enjoy homemade sourdough bread, but I have hits and misses trying to make it, so I thought I'd try this. It rises beautifully and bakes a crusty loaf, but calling it a sourdough yeast is a bit of a stretch.

Awesome for sour dough bread!
This makes great sour dough bread, best to let the bread rise at least overnight even better when it is 1 day or longer. neighbor from SF said was better than sour dough in bay area.

So Much Easier!
I have been maintaining my sourdough starter daily only to have it occasionally go bad and have to start all over . This make it so easy and quite honestly I don’t taste the difference. The only thing is you don’t have any discard to make …..but is that a bad thing. I don’t think so! Definitely recommend it

My other yeast works equal or better than and cost isn't worth it.
