At last, a book that gets down to the nuts and bolts of how it all works. This is the first material I have found that walks you through the" nitty-gritty" of what needs to be done, not done, when and how. I bought it for my Kindle and was so pleased that I bought a book for my son as we wend our way through the maze of rules and regulations concerning a trust. Since Medicaid rules vary by state, do not be put off by the fact that the author is a lawyer from Florida, as he acknowledges, and uses that state as an example. I have not found this to be a problem. The big picture is pretty much the same for all, and there are many resources for easily locating information for all other states. This is an excellent book.

You probably have a lot of questions about estate planning, we did. This book provides details about much of the basics of Medicaid Planning, in a way that is easily understandable and relevant. A concise, clear review of medicaid planning written by an elder law attorney. Neufeld writes in a way to make it easy for non-lawyers to understand such concepts as medicaid criteria, special needs trusts, and protecting assets to qualify for Medicaid. I would suggest this book to anyone looking to get smart on this issue!

This is a fantastic book! Jason writes clearly and concisely; no JD is required! Jason is clear that this book doesn't substitute for an attorney, but helps answer some of the most common questions and better equips the reader when speaking with an attorney and navigating the Medicaid application process and benefits.

Despite practicing law for almost 37 years (including in the areas of wills, estates, and probate), I knew little about Medicaid Long Term Care Planning. I found Jason Neufeld's book to be a great, easy to grasp primer for lawyers and lay people alike. I commend Jason for his command of the subject matter and for distilling that into something understandable.

Good part is that it talks about income only trust. However the focus is on Florida law. For instance, in West Virginia we cannot use a Miller Trust.

What a great source of information without spending a fortune on an attorney. Read this before calling an Elder attorney, so you have a good base of knowledge.

This book is exactly what it purports to be: a concise and clear primer on Medicaid planning. Its written by an elder law attorney who does a really good job of breaking down complex elder care legal concepts (e.g. special needs trusts, Miller Trusts, personal services contracts, Medicaid spenddown, etc….) into easy-to-read bite-sized chunks that non-lawyers can appreciate.I know so much more about Medicaid now, highly recommend
