saved my old iPad!
I have a refurbished iPad 2, which is an obsolete model. But I use it daily to read, watch my movies, check email. When it failed to charge I was heartbroken! But I could see that the Apple branded charger I was using was in poor shape. So I thought I'd try this. Works great! This is made a bit better than the original charger in that the base of the plug is larger so that I have more to grip when removing from the iPad. I have a heavy duty protective case and was forced to pull by the cord because the base was covered by the protective cover on the iPad. No more. This was definitely a bargain and is a good product. While I'd love the newest iPad, that's out of the question and this little piece gives my old, obsolete, refurb unit more life.

It works just like any other charger !!
It works exactly as it should. For everyone on here going crazy because it melted let me say one thing, COMMON SENSE PEOPLE. You should know not to leave something PLASTIC plugged in for 24 hours !!! Come on now what did you expect?? That’s like leaving your muffins in the oven for 24 hours and then blaming LOWES for your muffins catching fire and burning your house down. No matter how good a charger is you are NEVER EVER supposed to leave them plugged in for longer than an HOUR it is a fire hazard and it clearly states that on the box !!! I can’t believe I even have to tell you this🤦♀️ Be smart use it as directed and it will do its job !! “ oMg I LeFt It PlUgGeD iN FoR 3 DaYs StRaIgHt AnD iT BURNED MY HOUSE DOWN HoW DaRe AmAzOn SeLl SoMeThInG sO DaNgErOuS! Maybe amazon should re-evaluate their buyers mental state before selling to you because some of you guys just have zero common sense.

great cord; improvement over original IPhone 4S charger cord
It is, as other reviewers have stated, a bit "heftier" or "beefier" than the original manufacturer charging cord. Words super on the IPhone 4S. Charges faster than original. Specifically, the "weak" connection to the phone (where manufacturer's cord first break always occurs) is stronger and better made. The cord itself is about 1 mm wider than original; just enough to be stronger yet flexible. Where it connects to wall charger is the next weakness of original; as with where it connects to the phone, here too the cord is slightly "beefier" and I feel very confident that the wire will not break through the insulating exterior like the original. With that said, my charger (still the original but with lots of electrical tape at both ends) is 7 years old and still does charge the phone but my confidence in it has been increasingly questionable in the last year or so. Now i can relax and know my charger is good for a long time thanks to Amazon Basics Apple IPhone replacement charging cord. I only have an IPhone 4S - so don't know if works on other models, but other reviewers have commented regarding this. Thanks Amazon Basics! Great cord at very reasonable price. Will update review after a year of use!

It Works For My Old iPad 2
I have an old iPad 2 that was a gift. I actually use it a lot, and have many times considered upgrading to a newer model... mine is frozen in obsolescence, and can't even upgrade the iOS to anything remotely new. Still, it works and for the things I use it for, it's fine. After many years, the original 30-pin cable from Apple was still functional but had worn down from basic use, and the plastic sheath was wearing off near the plug, so I ordered this as a replacement. It works perfectly fine, and I may be imagining this, but it seems to charge my iPad faster than my very old cable did, so that's a bonus.

This is an amazing cable! Okay
AmazonBasics Apple Certified 30-Pin to USB Cable for Apple iPhone 4, iPod, and iPad 3rd Generation - 3.2 Feet (1.0 Meter) This is an amazing cable! Okay, I know my phone is old (iPhone 4, complete with cracked screen!), and finding a 30-pin cable that isn't garbage within a handful of months is a true challenge. But this is so beautiful. The plugs are fat enough to comfortably grab between thumb and index finger, and they look like they'll withstand bending more than 5 degrees before going *snap*. Also, the charging rate. Oh, the charging rate. I've got one of the Apple outlet chargers (the white rounded box?) and have been using a 2m 30-pin that I bought about... 18 months ago, I think? The 30-pin side is a little bit loose, and thus I have to wiggle the dang thing around until it (hopefully) clicks in, letting me charge my phone; spoiler alert: that rarely happens. More usually, it was trickling power in at a rate of ~2% per hour. No joke, I recorded the battery charge when I went to bed, and then again when I unplugged my phone. In contrast, with this cable the harge rate is ~2% per minute! Okay, maybe more like a bit over 1% per minute, but that's a beautiful thing IMO. Seriously, if you need a 30-pin cable, this one is very good, and so very cheap.

HOLDING UP TO THE TEST OF TIME
My fiance has owned a prehistoric flip phone for years and didn't want to own a new one. He kept on saying his was just fine. After much going back and forth he agreed to try an iphone but did not want me to pay for it. I started calling all of my family to find out who may have a cell phone they no longer use. I have three brothers and they all have children. I figured out of the group one of them had a phone laying around from upgrades. I finally found that my brother had an iphone 4 but did not have the charger. I ordered this charger to go with the phone. This charger has been great. I have it plugged into my six port charger and he has access to it whenever he needs to charge the phone. Both the USB and the actual recharging part that connects to the phone works perfectly and has been for several months. It does not kink and the plastic sheathing around the wires is strong. This USB cable continues to look like new despite being used every day and sometimes getting tangled with the other cords plugged into the charger. I have been pleased with this product and the fact that my fiance loves his new smartphone.

Great alternative to the original cable with some small differences
Pros: Works great with my iPod Classic 6th Gen (160GB). I am using it with a USB A-to-C adapter to plug into a 2020 MacBook Pro on Big Sur OS. iPod is recognized each time so far. No syncing issues or random disconnects. (Minor) Cons: It is a bit weird not to have those two release buttons you squeeze to release the cable like on the original iPod cable. Those were made originally to insure a safe and secured connection and not to accidentally disconnect while syncing. As long as you’re careful this should not be an issue. I don’t love the loud Amazon Basics logo but otherwise this is a great alternative to the original cable. **[NOV 2021 Update] Had this cable close to a year now and I had to change my review from 4 stars to 2 stars. It no longer allows my iPod classic to sync properly unless I format the drive which replaces my library each time rather and takes about 25 minutes. I am still using Big Sur (have not updated to Monterey yet), however, interestingly enough, I tried using my original iPod cable and syncs perfectly. It just adds the handful of new songs each time rather than an error saying the iPod is in use by another computer and need to format. Going forward, I don’t see much purpose for this cable anymore aside from something to charge my iPod with when traveling **
