Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Multi-Color Textured Spray Paint, Desert Bisque

Rust-Oleum is awesome paint. It sprays evenly and is very durable. This particular one has a texture to it. I used it as the final color for the camouflage paint job on an AR-15. It improved the grip significantly.

Made my $700 eBike look like a much more expensive model. Love the texture and color.

Perfect color and texture for my diorama … a 1:6 scale brownstone made of raw wood, cardboard and gaff tape. I used two coats.

For the most part, Rust-Oleum is one of the best spray paints on the market. They are known for high quality finishes and durability. I bought the Desert Bisque color because it most closely matched the current color of my metal cafe set which came from Costco. The set is: 4 swivel rocker chairs and a square travertine mosaic topped table with metal legs. I didn’t want to drastically change the color, just refresh the paint because the pieces had quite a number of chips. I thoroughly cleaned my furniture first using a power washer and let everything sit and dry for a few days before painting. I also bought one of those trigger-style handles that snaps onto the top of the can. I HIGHLY recommend getting one if you have many, many cans to use. It will save your hand from extensive fatigue. This is an odd paint. It is a textured paint, flat finish and not shiny. The finish feels grainy, like sandpaper but it contains subtle variation within the color. The coverage is quite poor so don’t expect to drastically change the color of whatever it is you’re painting, at least without spending a fortune. I initially bought 6 cans thinking that would be more than enough to paint 4 metal chairs and the metal legs on the table (not the top). I grossly underestimated that quantity! I had to order a second 6-pack to finish the task. It took every bit of those 12 cans to cover the furniture! That was about $120! My furniture looks great but it took a couple of rounds and doing several layers to get the paint to completely cover the surface. This kind of job is not something you do in one day, at least not if you want professional looking results. I was patient and took my time because my lawn furniture is an investment I made when I purchased it and I want to do proper maintenance so it continues to last for many years. Despite this being a different sort of spray-painting experience, for me, I do love the color and the textured surface, though. It helps keep the chair cushions from sliding off the furniture. The set has been exposed to the rain a couple of times since I painted it and it still looks great. I think it’s a unique, specially paint and, ultimately, it does a good job but don’t expect instant results and to be done in one day. It’s definitely different than any spray paint I ever used. The finished product turned out awesome, though.

I had used another brand of textured paint on a bench and loved it. (See picture 1) Unfortunately, that company, which was also less expensive, no longer sells the product. So I bought the 6-pack of Rustoleum, fully expecting it to cover 6 kitchen chairs. The coverage was nowhere near as good. I had cleaned and sanded my chairs. I guess I should have primed them in a similar color and then topped them off with this spray paint. I am so disappointed. My bench had intricate designs and it took 1 can to fully cover it with the other brand. I have used two cans of Rustoleum on a chair, and it looks like it needs 2 more! At this rate, I should have just bought new chairs! I went to Home Depot and bought a gallon of paint and some clean sand to add to it. The pro there told me he had done this before and it worked well. So I guess that’s what I’ll do for the remaining chairs, plus I’ll have to figure out how to redo this one. It’s frustrating. Now I have 4 cans of spray paint I won’t use for this project. Perhaps I’ll be able to find another use.

Purchase a similar underlying can of spray paint color before using this if you are going for a dramatic color change. I used this for a small to medium metal trellis. The color looks good, but I wasn’t even able to cover one side completely and I certainly didn’t anticipate paying an additional $20 for this trellis. I would have purchased a more expensive trellis with a better finish had that in the case. I would say this does the job but doesn’t cover like you would hope it does.

I replaced the roof on a shed with metal that was supposed to be colored but was more plain grey. Looked bad from the deck. Sprayed this and the shed disappears in the forest. Has now lasted 6 months with no deterioration. Took 3 cans to cover about 60 sqft. No splatter or drip. The nozzle is nice for adjusting spray. Keeps waste down. I sprayed the green steel fence posts that have white tops. No need for reflection since it’s just the backyard dog enclosure. I changed from sweep to stream on the nozzle and sprayed 40 Five foot posts. Looks great.

I was unable to use it...coz it has no nozzle spay..I thot I would use it with some odr nozzle but it’s not working

El color es fantástico, lo malo fue que llegó usada la lata (a la mitad) y tuve que comprar nuevamente el producto para poder pintar completamente la pieza. Y me di cuenta que estaba usada la lata porque la que adquirí en otro lugar me alcanzó para 3 pasadas y la que ellos me enviaron sólo alcanzó para una 😔
