Leonards last CD
Had to have this, to add to my previous LC CDs. Not his best, but still essential listening.

A Posthumous Dance
This is an album made up from tracks Leonard Cohen had not completed or in the case of the title track was given to another artist in this case Anjani one of his muses. Adam Cohen has finished these tracks after his father had passed away and he completed his final album You Want It Darker. Unlike the albums Leonard Cohen made after he was forced out of retirement and back into the studio, also on to the road, Adam Cohen has used more ornate backing tracks with strings and percussion although the backing tracks do conform to the style of being unobtrusive allowing the listener to enjoy Cohens lyrics. This album does seems to lack Leonard Cohens dry wit, what I mean is that despite Cohens rather mournful reputation a lot of his albums display a witty charm, this album lacks that charm. However that does not mean that it is a bad album as well as the title track I also enjoyed Moving On, Puppets and the rather poignant Listen To The Hummingbird. This is a rather beautiful postscript to a wonderful career, but also I do hope there are not more tracks to be exploited for I would not want Cohens legacy to be abused as Jimi Hendrix's has and Prince's legacy seems to be heading that way. What I mean is they should leave the memory of Leonard Cohen alone.

Cohen's Final Album
Maybe not his best, or even close, but still a fine, if short, album. None of the songs are truly memorable, but all are worth hearing, and if you are at all a Cohen fan you'll want this.

I never called it art.......
A brilliant posthumous album that carries on were his fantastic later albums left off.I personally think it features some brilliant lyrics (still a little saucy here and there which raises a smile) and with the hushed backing of gentle acoustic guitars, brushed percussion, organs, keys and orchestration its a soothing album, his son has done his legacy proud putting this one together. To say this was built around vocals recorded some time ago, often with only a hint of how the music would eventually sound it is a really coherent album, it doesn’t feel patched together. At less than half an hour it left me wanting more, maybe it’s for the best though as it’s one paced so may have lost impact with a longer running time.A fantastic album from an artist who will be sadly missed. Let’s hope he left more treasures behind for us.
