Great read!
I bought this as a gift for a friend. We are from Columbus, Indiana. She loved it! It has tidbits of the history of the town that most don't know about. Great read!

It was ok. Drawn out stories. It was interesting to me because I lived in Columbus for many years. I worked in surgery at the time of the Gammell / Jacobs / Marr deal. I thought it got alot more attention than it deserved. I always thought the police had ovet active imaginations!
It was ok. Drawn out stories. I would not reccomend at current price. I lived in Columbus for many years , when I lived there it had the "good old boy " atmosphere. This book certainly points that out.

I love history, especially in depth and local and well-researched
I love history, especially in depth and local and well-researched. Paul does it with his new book. He covers a half-dozen more stories of his Town, Columbus Indiana, from the late 1800's up to the 1970's and a lot went on. He speaks of urban renewal, of the slums that were transported over many years of haggling from dangerous squalid places to beautiful parks. But the book is best when it talks of alcoholic insanity and murder, often with a Twist. For example at least 20 pages are devoted to a love triangle gone wrong resulting in a murder. 15 years later when the murderer was released his mother was waiting for him to get off the train and was run over by it at the same time he was getting off from another train a few blocks away! Great detail, good research, written in a way that it's really easy to enjoy. Good job Paul!
