MAGLITE ML300LX 3-Cell D LED Flashlight, Adjustable Beam, Water-Resistant, QuickClick Modes, Extended Battery Life – Black

I'm writing this review more or less in reply to another negative review I saw. Review had said about the flashlight head not being threaded onto the body. This light deserves the 5 stars. As for Duty lights there are more updated products, more state-of-the-art, less size but more power, better options all around. One thing though that Maglites are really good for is Security work, not only lighting up the night but as a means of self defense. Now of course you should always check your local laws, use proper use-of-force. Maglites are solid built and always handy. A lot of time a Security Guard isn't allowed to carry any other means for self defense other than a Maglite for nighttime use. With that in mind I put in a fair amount of research in my next duty light. If you are looking for a full sized light for on the job work this light shines (no pun intended.) One thing right off the bat is I will point out the battery usage. Once the batteries start to grow weak the flashlight will no longer keep the Full power active past a second or two. It's a good indicator to change the batteries soon. It will still turn on and still shine for a long time on the dimmer settings so do not let that fool you into thinking the light is busted, change the batteries first. My light flicked off from the Full power setting, I turned it back on and it would dim after a second or two. It kept doing this for a week of nightly use. I changed the batteries and now the light works Full power just like from day 1 when I opened it. That's a good example of the battery usage of the light. As far as another review pointing out the flashlight head isn't threaded onto the body like the older incandescent bulb Maglites I'm attaching a picture so you can see for your self. Truth is it is attached in some degree while still being Mag-tough. On the top of the flashlight body they have attached a small metal ring. This ring is thin but it's really strong and it's sank into the body even lower than the threads. I've tried to pry this sucker off and it isn't coming off easy. Not that it can't be removed, I'm sure if you wanted to complain you could use some pliers and eventually get it off but for standard use this ring isn't going anywhere. On top of that they have a heavy duty plastic ring deeply threaded onto the flashlight body. This plastic ring lowers all the way down on top of the metal ring. This plastic ring is your adjuster, when you turn the flashlight head this is what adjust the LED. The reflector is put over this and the cap then screwed onto the top of the flashlight head. All in all it makes a really solidly built body. As tough as it is the only way I can see you having issues with this light is if you leave it for extended times in a car. Cars can reach 350 degrees in the heat, anything cooked for hours in that heat will degrade and not only that but would explode almost any battery. That or if you are hitting something as hard as an ox and even then if by some off chance you crack the lens the body is still solidly built that it isn't going anywhere. If you really fear the cap detaching I would change your grip. Good grip to have with a Maglite is to grip just above the flashlight head, I normally put 3 fingers over the head and my pinky resting on the cap using my middle finger to flip the switch to turn it on. Yes this is exactly what I wanted in a flashlight. First let me address some of the complaints I read in previous reviews. 1. Radius of light beam. This is not a floodlight, it is a flash light. Do not expect 180 degrees of solid light that is not how it works. Single LED lights do not cast a beam like incandescent. However, the result of light is still beyond satisfying. I can light up a 5 bay TRUCK (dumptruck) shed from 80 feet away, thats a building 70 feet wide we are talking about. Yeah trust me its brighter then the sun. 2. Button no longer working. This has a different style button then older Maglites. The button is a single push not a depress spring load button, if you push it to hard it will break eventually, all you need to do is tap it on or off. 3. Light Flickering not working properly. I have only had this product for a day, it is solid Maglite anodized aluminum. That being said this product can take a whack and still work. DO NOT expect to be able to repeatedly brick this on concrete or rocks and continue to have it work. Take care of your items even if it can take punishment don't give it any if you doesn't need to. Also this flashlight has 4 function modes each with four types of settings. One of the settings is "hold button for light" do confuse this for "only working when i hold button" this is a setting of the flashlight itself. The instructions literally warn you not to stare into the light for it can cause possible retina damage, that's how bright this sucker is. Make no mistake about it this is a powerful light. I purchased the 3 - D cell version so it would have that extra weight and power. Even on the lowest power setting it still casts a beam 100's of feet away. The strobe effect is almost sickening which is exactly what i wanted, it is meant to disorientate and confuse and trust me even the user has a hard time looking at the strobe while using the flashlight so imagine what an animal or a thief will experience. Extremely satisfying I expect lots of use and enjoyment from this product. REMEMBER the longer and more effort you put into taking care of something the longer it will last you.

Ok, I am happy to give this ML300XL 5 Stars. The light was not all that I expected it to be, but it still rates 5 in my book. I have had Maglites for decades. I recently passed down my 3D incandescent light from when I delivered pizzas in the late 80's to my 11 year-old son. I have an AA MiniMag and a 3D 2nd Gen LED as well. I always appreciate how beefy the lights are. This ML300XL intrigued me, so I put it in my wish list for awhile. Around Christmas for a short period of time I saw that the price dropped to $34, which was interesting because the 2D version of this same light was still at $44. Figuring it was a mistake that would soon be corrected, I bought it. Shipping was super fast with Prime. Packaging was fine. Put brand new Energizers in, and tested it out. Light is very bright, no question about that. Very happy with brightness level on full power. It has 4 different modes to choose from, each mode having a certain set of 3 light settings. I chose General, so I have Full Power/Med Power/Strobe. Works best for me. Build quality is fantastic. Love the new grip pattern. Love Maglites. Made in USA using quality materials. ONLY thing that I was bummed about is that it is a lighter version of previous 3D cells. The material is not the strong and heavy aluminum body that I am used to. To me, this 3D light is the same size as their older 3C lights. I would like to see them get back to a thicker body but with the same technology in it. Many people buy Maglites for the beefy metal body. Fantastic light, and a steal at $34...

I was a little skeptical about buying this one because of the mixed reviews, but I decided “what the heck!”. I hope the photos will be helpful while you read the rest of my review. First impressions: Awesome Maglite! Feels just as heavy duty as the old ones and looks amazing! It’s real bright, a bit brighter than my old 3-D Cell LED Maglite and the button feels up to date and not springy, but I actually like the spring feeling button on the older versions, but the new one is just as nice. This new one is a bit shorter than the old one and the head of the flashlight is a bit different too. Taking it apart was a new bit for me, slightly different design, but keeping the toughness. New features: I like the capability of choosing a lower light setting, but it does take a little playing around to get used to the button switching(it’s like the toy sonic screwdrivers lol). Some questioned the strength in the head because of the plastic gear inside, but it doesn’t seem to be a weak spot much at all. Though when opening the flashlight out of the package, I would suggest taking it apart just in case to make sure the plastic ring is bottomed out so when you put it back together, the head will adjust normally(the gear teeth touch the bottom of the reflector and there’s an edge inside the head that bottoms out with the edge under the plastic gear which limits how far you can twist the head). Oh and you have to unscrew the top cap of the head first then pop the bottom half off and slide it off the flashlight, then when putting it together, you will have to slide the bottom half of the head up the flashlight then slightly pop it in to completely close it together and screw the top cap back on. When the light is on, the head doesn’t adjust the same way that the old one does, but it’s easy and shorter in the twisting. The battery end cap is different, so there’s no swapping parts with the old ones. It’s a new Maglite nearly all together, but it’s great! Overall: It’s a Maglite! I currently have no cons to bring out. The biggest pro in my opinion, is that it’s a bit lighter than the old one and brighter, which is a big thumbs up for me! Great job!! It’s a perfect piece in my Maglite collection!!!

I have three other Maglites that are older incandescent models...I took one and installed a NiteIze LED bulb...better/ brighter than before, but still lacking that punch. Plus as others have said, you get the weird dark circle in the center no matter what you really do to get rid of it. I guess you can say that I am still partial to my 3-AA cell LED lights that are very bright. So I bough this 3-D cell unit to take with me on walks--- plain and simple it serves two purposes: one being it is very bright and definitely lights up everything and also serves as personal protection. I do like is that it is really bright and with D-cell batteries it will last a long time before changing batteries. With my aforementioned 3-AA cell units run time is always the biggest problem... Reminds me of Data in The Goonies with his super bright light that lasts for a very short time. Overall the feel is good and although it does feel a bit thinner compared to my others and possibly is due to the different grip area compared to the knurled grip of the others, but overall it still feels well made. The switch is probably the one part that I like better on my old units...it takes more pressure to depress it than the new one. Because I keep it in hand, I have a habit of keeping the switch in my grip area--- and consequently I blink it unintentionally every so often. Adjust my grip and all is good. Yup, old dog, new trick. So do I recommend? Yes. Would I buy another, absolutely. I do like my variety of flashlights. I have everything from singe cell AAA to 18v variants with this being my new favorite.

A well designed high powered flashlight with several brightness levels and flashing modes. The projected light illuminates the area very well even in the "eco" mode. It is not a focused narrow beam; it is much more practical for everyday use in the dark. The matte finish and large knurling are nice. I would have given this flashlight 5 stars except for the fact that the batteries rattle inside the tube when you use the Duracell brand. I was surprised. I contacted MagLite and they advised me to either not to shake the flashlight or use a different brand of batteries. Sure enough. After I replaced the Duracells with cheap Rayovacs the batteries did not rattle in the flashlight unless it was vigorously shaken. An anti-roll feature would also be nice if MagLite could build that into the design. Like my old 4 cell MagLite (which does not rattle even with Duracells loaded), the ML300LX rolls easily when placed on a smooth surface.

I do security work, and I have a variety of very good flashlights. The MAGLITE was always a workhorse flashlight in the past, and with the advent of LED flashlights, it seemed to fall by the wayside. They did make replacement LED "bulbs" in the past (they were fantastic!) but Maglight still declined...until this showed up. Now all my co-workers are getting this light! 600lm, is just fine. I have some ranging from 200-1,400 and this is just right. Focus is larger than I'd like but not by much. I am just picky. Lasts a good long time, (oodles longer than the old, dimmer incandescent models). More than enough light, easily adjustable to lower setting if needed. (there are other features, such as flashing, but I don't use them and it is a pain to get it into that mode) I use it on almost every post. Good range, bright, solid construction, good grip, high quality you expect from Maglight. All in all an excellent flashlight and you won't regret getting one. So get one, and stop looking for a decent LED flashlight. I only have one better and it is an exotic light, so don't bother. You have too spend twice as much to get something that is only slightly better. Seriously. Darn good light, darn good value. It's what you need.

Wow, Maglite blew me away with this one. I work in law enforcement and can say that this flashlight is built to last. The grip portion of the light is cut in a pattern which gives the user a little extra grip. The grip is also more narrow then the maglites of old. It is only slightly larger than the d cell batteries themselves. I got a black one and it is very sharp looking. The lights are also searialized so if you and a coworker have the same light you can tell which one belongs to you. The flashlight is phenomenal as far as operations are concerned. The on off switch is easy to access and feels like it's heavily constructed as well. First push and the highest setting is activated. Multiple pushes accesses medium and low output mode. With no exaggeration, the low output is a bright as some of my other lights. I also believe this light can be programmed to have a strobe mode as well. This is the brightest flashlight I have ever owned. It would work well at home, on the job, on the boat or any other situation you can find yourself in. I defiantly give this light 5 stars and would recommend it to anyone not afraid to spend 50 dollars and a tool that most certainly will last a long time

Los materiales parecen bastante buenos, la potencia de iluminación también es muy buena, es algo que yo buscaba y la compre con cierto reselo, sin embargo ya que la probe resulto magnifica, como para señalizar en carretera por ejemplo. El costo si es algo no economico. Ojala la duración y funcionamiento sea acorde con el precio.

In früheren Jahren war ich ein absoluter Fan von MagLite Lampen - zu dieser Zeit war die LED Technik jedoch noch längst nicht im Hause MagLite angekommen. Ich schaute mich nach einer einigermaßen handlichen Lampe um, die aber die zukunftsweisende LED Technik haben sollte. Als MagLite Besitzer schaute ich natürlich zuerst dort nach den MagLite LED Modellen, die zu der Zeit gerade ihren Marktstart hatten. In einem Fachgeschäft für Outdoorausrüstung stieß ich dann auf "LED Lenser" und vorbei war es für mich mit MagLite. Bietet LED Lenser doch Lampen an, die im Vergleich zu einer MagLite 3D um bis zu 3 mal kleiner sind, aber in Sachen Lichtausbeute und Lichtstärke ein vielfaches einer MagLite LED leisten. Dies war noch der Stand der Dinge zur Markeinführeung der LED Technik bei MagLite, sodass ich mir mit der Zeit mehrere LED Lenser zulegte und mit diesen bis heute auch recht zufrieden bin. Da ich kürzlich eine "Haus- und Hoflampe" suchte, die nicht nur so hell wie LED Lenser sein und mit einem Satz Batterien bei voller Leistung weiter als nur auf 2 Std. maximale Lichtleistung kommen und zudem auch sehr robust sein sollte, sah ich mich seit Jahren mal wieder bei MagLite um. Als ich mich durch die neueren Modelle klickte, staunte ich nicht schlecht. Seit den Anfängen der LED Technik bei MagLite hat sich doch ordentlich was getan - Respekt. Natürlich muss man ganz klar sagen, dass eine MagLIte 3D mit knapp 30cm Länge nicht so handlich ist, wie bspw. eine LED Lenser P7.2, doch für mich war genau diese Lampe durchaus interessant, da sie groß genug ist, um ausreichend Batterien aufzunehmen, was eine lange Leuchtdauer bedeutet. Zudem ist die Länge auch ideal, um sich im Notfall mit der Lampe verteidigen zu können (natürlich hoffe ich, dass dies nie notwendig sein wird). Abgesehen davon ist MagLite in sachen Taschenlampen für mich der Inbegriff von Robustheit. Die Lampen haben den Ruf, nahezu "unkaputtbar" zu sein und zumindest im Bezug auf das Gehäuse/den Lampenkörper, kommt das denke ich auch zu 100% hin. In jüngeren Jahren bekam ich eine MagLite 3D geschenkt (damals noch mit Glühbirne), welche ich bis heute besitze und das beste: sie ist nunmehr ca. 12 Jahre alt und funktioniert 1A - noch mit der ersten Birne, die ab Werk eingesetzt wurde! Natürlich ist sie in der Zeit nicht ganz unversehrt geblieben, ein paar Kratzer und Macken haben sich schon eingeschlichen, doch die Funktionalität ist wie am ersten Tag. Ich liebäugelte auch mit der LED Lenser P17.2, welche durchaus mit der MagLite ML 300LX 3D vergleichbar ist, jedoch hat sie weniger Lichtleistung als die MagLite und hält ihre volle Lichtstärke - wie bei LED Lenser leider üblich - nur recht kurze Zeit, bevor die Lampe anfängt herunterzuregeln, bzw. schwächer zu werden. Nachdem ich längere Zeit online recherchiert und mich umfassend über diese Lampe informiert hatte, stand meine Entscheidung fest. Es sollte keine LED Lenser, sondern eine "full size MagLite", sprich die ML300LX werden. Blieb noch die Frage: welches Design? Klassisch glänzend oder mattes Design mit "Waffelmuster" im Griffbereich? Ich konnte mich zuerst nicht entscheiden, die klassische "ur"-Variante hat eben schon etwas für sich, hat fast schon etwas nostalgisches. Trotzdem beschloss ich, die Lampe im neuen Design, sprich in matt schwarz zu wählen, auch weil die Lampe durch das "Waffelmuster" in jedem Fall etwas "griffiger" als das Gegenstück im klassischen Design sein sollte. Zudem - für den "taktischen" Einsatz nicht ganz unwichtig - vermeidet man mit dem matten Design aufgrund von Lichtreflexen, die von einer glänzenden Oberfläche ausgehen könnten wenn sie beleuchtet wird, in einer Situation in der man nicht nicht unbedingt entdeckt werden möchte, aufzufallen. Zur Technik der Lampe: Die Zahlen sind recht beeindruckend. Dank massig Power durch 625 lm reicht der Lichtkegel der Lampe bis zu 406m weit. Zudem wird die volle Lichtleistung laut Hersteller bis zu 16 Stunden lang gehalten. Wenn dies den Tatsachen entsprcht - super! Im "Low" Modus kann man die Lampe getrost drei Tage lang eingeschaltet lassen, erst dann geht die Batteriekapazität dem Ende zu. Im "Eco" Mode, könnte die Lampe gleich eine ganze Woche (7 Tage) durchleuchten. Aber auch die outoor-Tauglichkeit kommt nicht zu kurz. Die Lampe ist stoßfest und sollte Stürze aus bis zu 1m Höhe jedenfalls soweit unbeschadet überstehen, dass sie danach noch einwandfrei funktioniert. Des weiteren ist sie gemäß IPX4 spritzwassergeschützt. Nun zum Wohl wichtigsten Punkt, der Lichtleistung: Ich packte die Lampe aus, legte drei Mono-Batterien ein, betätigte den Ein-/Ausschalter und war absolut begeistert, wie hell diese Lampe doch ist. Wenn man in sachen MagLite nur die "uralte" Halogenvariante bzw. das erste LED Modell gewohnt ist, das dieser Lampe nicht einmal ansatzweise das Wasser reichen kann, erkennt man, dass MagLite im Bezug auf LED Technik riesige Fortschritte gemacht hat. Die Lampe ist super hell und das fokussieren geht nun viel schneller, da sich der Lampenkopf nun nicht mehr um 360° drehen lässt. Bereits mit 1/4 Drehung erreicht man jede Fokusposition. Das weitreichende Fernlicht (Punktlicht) ist der Wahnsinn schon fast "übel" hell. Richtig gefreut habe ich mich, als ich zum ersten mal auf "Flutlicht" umfokussierte, denn: Es gibt nun kein "schwarzes Loch" mehr in der Mitte des Lichtkegels, wie es noch bei den alten Modellen der Fall war. Daumen hoch dafür! Ich habe die Lampe natürlich direkt am Abend draußen getestet und würde schätzen, dass die angegebene Leuchtweite von 406m durchaus realistisch ist. Die Umstellung der Betriebsmodi ist recht einfach. Die Verschlusskappe so weit abschrauben, dass die Lampe nicht mehr leuchtet, kurz warten (lt Anleitung 2 Sek.) dann den Ein-/Ausschalter gedrückt halten, die Verschlusskappe wieder festschrauben und einige Sekunden warten und immer noch den Schalter gedrückt halten. Dann fängt die Lampe an zu blinken, erst ein mal, dann zwei mal hintereinander usw. Möchte man in den Modus 1 (Generell) wechseln, wartet man das erste Blinkzeichen ab und lässt den Schalter dann los. Nun befindet sich die Lampe im Modus 1. Genau so wird verfahren, wenn man in den 2., 3. usw. Modus wechseln möchte. Einfach warten, bis die Lampe entsprechend (z. B. 3 mal) geblinkt hat, unmittelbar danach den Schalter loslassen und man befindet sich im gewünschten Modus. Die einzelnen Lichtfunktionen werden durch schnelles "tasten" erreicht. Möchte man im 1. Modus statt 100% Power auf "Low Power" schalten, einfach den Schalter zwei mal schnell hintereinander drücken. Genau so wird verfahren, möchte man in die dritte Lichtfunktion, also je nach Moodus z. B. zu "Eco" oder "Strobe" schalten, einfach drei mal schnell hintereinander den Schalter drücken. Dieses Prinzip finde ich recht gelungen, da es schon nach kurzer Zeit verinnerlicht ist und man nicht immer wieder in der Anleitung nachschlagen muss, wie der Wechsel der Modi oder das Ansteuern der Lichtfunktionen nochmal eben Funktioniert. Ich bestellte die Lampe wie bereits oben erwähnt im neuesn Design mit matter Oberfläche und Griffzone im "Waffeldesign". Dieses Design finde ich hervorragend, da die Lampe so viel besser und "fester" in der Hand liegt. Da ich noch eine der ganz alten MagLites mit Glühbirne besitze (3 D Cell also das Gegenstück zu dieser Lampe mit 3 Mono-Batterien), bei der es nur das klassische Design gab, habe ich den direkten Vergleich beider Ausführungen und würde mich jederzeit wieder für das neue matte "Waffeldesign" entscheiden. Unterschiede zum "ur"-Modell mit Glühbirne: Die Lampe ist ein wenig kürzer geworden. War die ursprüngliche Variante noch 31,5cm lang, so kommt das aktuelle Modell "nur noch" auf 29,5cm. Obwohl mich diese Veränderung wundert und ich sie nicht für notwendig gehalten hätte, sehe ich dies nicht als Nachteil. Ein weiterer bereits auf den ersten Blick Sichtbarer Unterschied zum alten Modell ist der in der Form veränderte Lampenkopf. Zudem soll durch eine Neuberechnung des Reflektors, bzw. durch eine etwas andere Anordnung/Positionierung der Lichtquelle weitgehend vermieden werden, dass bei "Flutlicht" das früher oft bemängelte "schwarze Loch" in der Mitte des Lichtkegels entsteht, was auch funktioniert. Ein weiterer Unterschied zur alten MagLite sind neben der deutlich gestiegenen Lichtleistung auch die neuen Lichtfunktionen. Diese bestehen aus vier Programmen, "Generell", "Outdoor", "Polizei/Law Enforcement" und "Taktisch/Tactical". Die Funktionen sind: 100% Power, Low, Eco, Strobo (flackerndes "Blitzlicht") und Momentlicht (Lampe leuchtet dann nur, solange der Ein-/Ausschalter gedrückt bleibt - u. a. nützlich zum Morsen). Preise: Leider kam ich zu spät auf die Idee, einmal bei Amazon.com (der US-Seite von Amazon) reinzuschauen, wo genau diese Lampe aktuell für schlappe $50 angeboten wird, was derzeit gut €45 entspricht (hier kostet sie aktuell knapp das doppelte!). Kommt dann noch der Versand, Zoll, Import nach Deutschland usw. hinzu, endet man bei €67,57. Aktuell wird die Lampe hier auf der deutschen Amazon-Seite für €87,87 angeboten! Die UVP liegt laut MagLite.de sogar bei €129, für eine Lampe, die man in den USA für umgerechnet 45€ (ohne Versandkosten etc.) bekommen kann. Bei aller Begeisterung, sehe ich hier aber nicht ganz die Rechtfertigung, die Preise derart fast schon unverschämt hoch anzusetzen. Sinnvolles Zubehör: Die Gürtelhalterung mit Ring. Somit kann man die MagLite immer bei sich Tragen, ohne sie dabei die ganze Zeit in der Hand halten zu müssen. Auf Amazon zu finden unter "Ledergürtelring für D-Cell Taschenlampe" Übrigens: Wer bereits eine "ältere" MagLite mit Mono-Batterien und die entsprechende Gürtelhalterung besitzt, kann beruhigt sein, denn diese passt auch bei dem Lampenkopf der ML300LX, sodass man sie ebenso wie die "alte" Variante am Gürtel tragen kann und keine neue Gürtelhalterung kaufen muss. Fazit: MagLite ist eben MagLite. Dieses Modell macht auf mich genau wie meine Lampe von vor 12 Jahren nach wie vor einen absolut robusten, gut verarbeiteten und langlebigen Eindruck. Die "neue" MagLite 3D teilt sich mit der "alten" eigentlich nur noch das Gehäuse aus Aluminium. Das Innenleben ist ein komplett anderes und wurde von Grund auf erneuert: neue Lichttechnik (LED), viel viel mehr Power als noch zu Glühlampenzeiten, mehrere Lichtprogramme und verschiedene Funktionen. Nun lässt sich auch bei MagLite das Licht an die jeweilige Situation anpassen, z. B. wenn man zum Lesen einer Karte eben keine 100% Lichtleistung und 625 lm benötigt, sondern eher gedimmtes Licht angebracht ist. Auch wenn ich anfangs große Zweifel hatte, ob MagLite noch auf den "LED"-Zug aufspringen und vernünftige Produkte mit LED Technik anbieten kann, so muss ich sagen, dass die MagLite ML300LX 3 D-Cell diese Zweifel vom ersten einschalten an beseitigt hat. Ich bin etwas überrascht von den doch sehr hoch angesetzten Preisen (besonders UVP des Herstellers für den deutschen Markt), dennoch bin ich von dieser Lampe überzeugt und kann sie empfehlen.

La luce che produce è di ottima qualità ,permette di poter avere due intensità di luce,quella piu forte e quella media,grazie alla zigrinatura presente sul manico vi permette di avere un'ottima presa della torcia,che dire di più, provare per credere .soldi ben spesi e soddisfatto in pieno dell'acquisto.
