QIDI Technology High-end 3D Printer:X-Maker,Focus on Homes and Education

INTRODUCTION-I looked far and wide for a hobbyist grade 3D printer before coming to the conclusion of buying a Qidi X-Maker.I needed something that didn't need tinkering, has a direct drive extruder for flexible filaments, and just worked reliably without any failures.What pulled me into buying this over other printers was the price per value.Hardware that most printers do NOT have in this price range:*High Precision Direct Drive Extruder with a maximum temperature of 250C*Silent TMC2209 drivers*32 bit control board*UL Certified Mean Well power supply*Fully enclosed printing chamber*3.5 inch color touchscreen display*Flexible magnetic build plate with a maximum temperature of 110C*Power loss print recovery*Filament run-out detection*Led lighting that illuminates the printing area*Auto shut off*WiFi connectivityUNBOXING AND SETUP-The X-Maker arrived in a large, well-packaged box.When opening the box I was greeted with an extensive amount of documentation on how to use the printer.There was even a thank you card letting me know about the customer support and a 1 year warranty.After following the manual, I was plugged in and printing within 30 minutes.I was happy to find that it was fully assembled, not having to put anything together was a huge plus and a big time saver.In the box was a 1kg spool of PLA, 2 Acrylic Covers, a top Acrylic hood, a full toolkit, a 16GB Flash Drive, 3 printing guides, and a scraper.The USB drive contained Qidi Print software, test sample files, and a treasure trove of well made video guides on how to use the printer.SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE-This printer is bundled with the manufactures Qidi Print slicer and has an educational version included that would be great for learning about 3d printing or just younger people.I used the original Cura Slicer and it worked well but the seamless integration of features in the Qidi print slicer made me switch completely.I have been using Qidi Print as my main slicer now as it has been very fast and accurate at slicing models.The user experience has been absolutely flawless from start to finish.Default settings work well and have been producing gorgeous prints, I have only had to adjust the temperatures depending on my filament.Qidi Print gets updated frequently, I have updated it a few times now and each time my quality goes up and the overall print time goes down.The slicer alone is impressive and really keeps me eager to print more.OVERALL PRINTING AND USAGE-I have been amazed by the level of detail I can achieve at this price.As its printing you can adjust settings straight from the touchscreen. Temperatures, speed, flow, lights, and fans are all all on the display.There are even options to pause or stop and save the print.When pausing the print you're giving the option of changing the filament which works very well.The printing time is fast thanks to the direct drive extruder and the quality is amazing due to such a sturdy enclosure.Right out of the box the default profile for ABS, PLA, TPU, and PETG were producing excellent results.Having a textured build plate improves the first layer adhesion significantly with all materials, I just flex it when the print has finished and it pops off.Due to the enclosure and TMC2209 drivers it is unbelievably quiet in my workshop.CUSTOMER SUPPORT-I contacted customer support several times on different occasions and each time I received a speedy response with accurate answers to my questions.Whenever I had a problem they did not stop emailing me until we fixed it, they even created video guides to help me further.I mainly talked to May on their customer service email and it was a pleasant experience every time.I wish I could rate the customer service a full 10 stars, they went above and beyond to help me.ADDITIONAL NOTES-I have been using the X-Maker for almost 3 months now and I could NOT be happier with my purchase.Overall, the whole experience has been fantastic.If you're looking for a 3d printer that works perfectly out of the box then I highly recommend this.

I'm surprised at the advanced features they've managed to put into this printer while keeping the price under $600. This is the perfect printer for someone who wants to pay a little extra for some pro-level features and user-friendly operation, but not overpay for those benefits.This is a surprisingly quiet printer with a built-in camera for remote monitoring, WiFi printing, direct ethernet cable printing, direct USB (Win & Mac) printing via the QIDIprint software, USB flash drive printing, a flexible magnetic build plate, active air filtration, color touchscreen, and LED lighting with touchscreen On/Off control, breakpoint/resume printing with filament run-out detection, Flex/TPU filament printing, and a few other advanced features.We just received this printer today, and I recorded an unboxing video while setting it up, which I hope to have on Youtube soon (search for "QIDI X-Maker Unboxing"). This is our 6th 3D printer, and our 4th printer from QIDI. From the time I started opening the box to starting the first print was about 30 minutes. The first print (using the included red PLA filament and the test file pre-loaded on the flash drive) turned out perfectly, and the flexible magnetic build plate made part removal very easy.Having previously set up three QIDI printers, I expected it to be a smooth process. But the build quality, user-friendly setup, and overall features made this the best printer I've worked with so far. Also, it's a very attractive piece of equipment to look at (almost looks like a wine refrigerator), and something I actually want to put on my desk. I plan to make this my desktop prototyping and development printer.This printer is too new to require any tech support, but in the past, I've found QIDI support to be great to work with. I recently needed to replace a failed component, and the process of getting a replacement was much faster and less expensive than I expected.Additional notes:I did not find the X-Maker's WiFi setup to be entirely intuitive, because you must click on the text entry field to the right of the "router" icon (not the icon, itself) in order to pull up the list of available wireless networks. If you have any difficulty with this, view the video supplied on the USB flash drive (8. LAN print, then WIFI Printing.mp4) to see this process. Once I knew where to press on the touch screen, it was a breeze. Similarly, setting up the WiFi camera using the 3rd-party app (iOS & Android) requires a few steps, so I would suggest first viewing the video on the flash drive, which explains the process better than is possible in the printed documentation.

I absolutely love my X-maker, it is really easy to use and has pretty much every feature I wanted. I had it out of the box and going in a short amount of time.One big plus is how easy it is to get support for this printer. I have emailed costumer support several times and they have been prompt, polite and knowledgeable with every interaction.

High quality printer for the price with very good customer service when needed (prompt reply to emails and replacement parts were quickly sent out). Easy menu to operate and unit is practically ready to use out of the box.

Great printer, great print quality, also really convenient being able to wireless print with the included slicer.
