Maxsa 37312 Park Right Dual Laser Parking Guide, Silver

I have the silver version, mounted to the ceiling. The motion detector seems to cover a broad area, and is easily triggered by the opening garage door. It is also triggered by movement in the garage, which is to be expected. Installation was easy. For a ceiling installation one removes the baseplate (push down on the tab and slide the silver part toward the top of the black tab), marks three holes on the ceiling using the baseplate as a template, drill pilot holes, and screw the baseplate to the ceiling. I used a stud finder to be sure the screws hit wood. For a wall mount, they include the option of two strips of double-stick foam tape (not to be used for a ceiling mount). The cord on the AC transformer is long enough (8-9 feet?) to easily reach the ceiling outlet that was meant for an opener (I have a SideJack). The laser spot was bright, even with the garage door open in sunny Southern California. The lasers in their mounts are tight enough that the laser holds its position when set. Contrary to some complaints, the device shuts off promptly. You just have to hold still and make certain nothing is moving in the garage. The Maxsa Innovations 37312 laser guided parking device is inexpensive, less goofy than a tennis ball, and more accurate than the old ultra-sonic ones. It’s very handy if parking in your garage needs to be precise, due to limited space or obstacles. And for those people who don’t think they need one, may I suggest that perhaps someone else in the family might benefit from it. Installation note: Try to leave yourself enough room to get up on a ladder and adjust the laser while the car is parked in position. If the device is directly over the car, you may not be able to reach, and will have to adjust through repeat guesses, while the car is backed out of the way.

Very easy to install. Adjustment requires some manual effort, a second person comes in handy to save time. Having this laser marker takes a bit of the guess work out of the 'squeeze' of two cars into the garage. Looks great, almost unnoticeable. I was able to plug this into the outlet shared by the garage door opener, and used a bit of clear tape to prevent wire hang. 30 minutes to install and set up with a 6 ft ladder and a friend, and could be swapped out if ever needed in less time than that.

was looking for a "stop" to correctly locate my vehicles inside my garage. I had tried "wheel stops", but ended up tripping over them. I found this Laser Park on Amazon and was impressed with the comments. It came very quickly and here are some of my thoughts. Due to some of the Amazon comments that "one of the lasers didn't last long or was very weak", I tested it in my kitchen for several hours to insure it was working as promised. After reading the instructions, I then mounted in the the ceiling about half way between the driver seats. I picked a location that was about 90 degrees to the windshield, hoping to reduce reflection. I saw that the instructions said not to use the double sided tape on ceiling mounts, but I wanted to test the location before permanently attaching it with screws. I like that the base can go up first, and then you mount the laser. It was easy to install and I had plenty of power cord to reach the nearest receptacle. I then parked both vehicles in their spaces to adjust the lasers. As I attempted to rotate each laser dot to land on the dashboards near the steering wheel. But as I moved the lasers to their extreme, the ball would pop out of its socket. With some effort, I was able to re-insert the lasers, but found that I did not have as much angular travel as I needed. I studied the angle and saw if I could move the laser base back, It would increase the distance where the laser intersected the hood/dashboard. Here is where I discovered my error of using the tape. I lost some paint trying to get the base off. That was my mistake and I will repair that soon. Now that the laser was in the second location, I again tried to gently adjust the location of the laser dot on each car. As before, any adjustment to the extreme, not matter how gently, causes the ball to come out of the socket. With the laser at the best angle I could get it, the "dot" would not extend into the dashboard. I had to settle for it landing somewhere on car hood. I now have to remember that location of each vehicle when parking. I can try moving the base a third time, but as you can see in the pictures, the power cord is at its max. That would mean an extension cord running across the ceiling and I'm not excited about that. I did email MACSA with this problem and they got back to me very quickly. They stated that they knew about the problem and was working on it. They offered to sell me a second one (at a discount) and it came in white. It’s still working as promised, but I have to be satisfied with the dots landing on my car hoods.

If I run it off the battery it seems to works (just installed earlier today) but the AC adapter worked for about 30 seconds and then shut off and has never worked again. If I plug it in the AC adapter the unit doesn’t work at all. It looks like the adapter had a defect and shorted out

I have a 2 car garage in Florida. I have a Chamberlain garage door opener (excellent, dependable and quiet). The Chamberlain has a motion sensor. It turns on the opener bulbs when you enter the garage. So, whenever enter the garage, I have light. Either sunlight, opener bulb light or both. This laser handles the light with ease and is bright and clearly visible under all lighting conditions. This is the 3rd laser I have bought. First was the Chamberlain because I have the Chamberlain opener. It was easy to install and connected to the opener. But the lasers were so dim they were unusable day or night. Invisible on the floor. I then bought separate lasers and used them to replace the lasers in the Chamberlain. Still too dim. Then I read the Maxa reviews that said it was bright. I rolled the dice and bought it, my 3rd swing at a laser. This time I did it right. The 2 lasers are bright enough to be seen in daylight or bulb light. I can park the car and did not strike out with my 3rd laser. Had The 3rd laser been a flop, I would have only seen my wife’s laser stare telling me I wasted more money. One more thing, I have read reviews complaining about limited adjustment angle. Using only one car, can’t comment on that. Can just say this one is finally bright enough to be seen.

TL;DR: Without mounting this very high or far back (away from where your garage motor plug typically would be), this couldn't reach both cars in a practical way. However, 2 lasers made the more difficult parking situation more workable than one laser, so I can at least park 1 of our 2 cars very precisely. That precision helps the 2nd car have more elbow room and both people/cars are happy, so overall this product still achieved the goal. DETAILS: This is ok. Good: price, sturdy enough build (the lasers won't wobble loose), mostly good sensor detection, light to mount and easily plugs in where your garage lift motor does. I was able to find a creative way to attach it to the garage motor framework thanks to its size and mounting points. Cons: there are a few reviews mentioning this is actually a difficult product to use in a garage with two vehicles because the lasers can't angle far enough -- I 100% agree. Can you separate the two laser heads enough to reach 2 cars? Yes, if your cars are close together -- for example, my garage doesn't have divided garage doors and the cars are about 3-4ft apart and that wasn't close enough. And yes, if you are targeting these at something on the far edges of your cars. For example, if you target this on the driver's mirror of one car, and the passenger mirror of the other. That makes your options much more limited, though, and half the time one of you will park a few inches too far one way or another and miss the laser -- think about trying to line up your mirror with a laser dot every time you park in the kind of tight/tricky space this laser is designed for. Picture it. Yeah, exactly. Ended up pointing both lasers onto one car that has the tougher job, parking at a slight angle. For my application, my gigantic vehicle with horrendous parking visibility (a hulk-hooded Challenger) only has about 5 combined inches between front and back bumpers... With only 1 of the lasers pointed, I couldn't get a safe read on how far forward or back I was because the laser was at such a crazy angle (trying to stretch this device to point at 2 cars) it would hit the car at a different lateral point if I came in slightly off-target from the laser... No confidence in my longitudinal position. With both lasers forming a "line," I can much more consistently gauge how far forward/back it is. This also freed me to position the entire device facing toward one car and for that application, the amount of angle in the two lasers worked great. What about the other car? Well, the second car has a little more elbow room. As long as these double lasers help me line up the tricky one, the other car has a consistent amount of space, and my car as a reference point. I haven't hit anything trusting this thing... yet!

The reviews suggest that this doesn't work well for 2 cars so I didn't even bother trying. Instead, I purchased 2 units and set one up over each car. I pointed both lasers to 2 different spots on the dash and it helps pinpoint exact position for the car in the garage. I mounted into the sheetrock ceiling using plastic anchors and the screws that came with it. The hardest part is reaching over the car and pointing the lasers to the exact spot you want. The lasers are in a tight friction based mount which makes them difficult to precisely position but once you get it in place they don't move. After precisely positioning the lasers I moved the cars out of the garage and made small marks on the garage floor where each laser pointed. If the lasers ever go out of alignment I can now reset the position easier without the car in the way. It has been 2 months since purchasing and these continue to work great for positioning with no hanging tennis ball. I hope they last for years, only time will tell. UPDATE AFTER 8 MONTHS: I still love these lasers BUT 1 laser on each unit has dimmed out to be useless. The remaining laser on each continues to be strong and that is all I need for positioning the cars. I'm hoping that these continue to keep working.

Setup was easy and straightforward. One laser died in about a month. Shortly afterwards the other laser went bad. Avoid this device if you’re looking for longevity.

Lo instale en 4 min, es muy practico para los 2 autos y ahora es muy sencillo con la indicacion laser donde detenerse. En mi caso lo pegue al techo pero utilize un pegamento llamado no mas clavos, las cintas que vienen incluidas no son tan resistentes al paso del tiempo. Recomiendo el producto ampliamente.
