We've been using this Simplehuman 45L rectangular step can for a while now, and it's easily one of the best kitchen upgrades we've made. The brushed stainless steel looks modern and fingerprints wipe off easily, so it always looks clean. The step pedal feels sturdy and opens smoothly every time, and the soft-close lid is so much quieter than our old trash can. It also does a great job keeping odors contained. The 45L size is perfect for our busy family without taking up too much floor space. The custom liners fit perfectly, but regular 13-gallon bags work well too. Overall, it's well-made, durable, and looks great in the kitchen. It's definitely more expensive than a basic trash can, but the quality makes it worth the investment. Highly recommended!

This is easily the nicest kitchen trash can I’ve ever owned. The brushed stainless steel looks great, the lid closes quietly every time, and the foot pedal feels incredibly solid and well built. It definitely has a premium feel. One thing I really appreciate is that you don’t have to use the proprietary bags. While the simplehuman liners fit perfectly, I’ve been using regular kitchen trash bags without any issues. The liner rim keeps everything tucked neatly out of sight, so you’re not locked into buying one specific brand. It’s sturdy, easy to clean, holds odors well, and looks fantastic in the kitchen. Sometimes it’s the little everyday items that make a surprising difference, and this is one of them. Five stars. Great design, excellent quality, and the flexibility to use standard trash bags makes it an even better value.

I would never admit how much I spent on this trashcan but it was worth it. It looks clean, and actually elegant in my kitchen and the soft close feature is great. It says it has a smudge-free finish but my kids managed to put fingerprints all over but they wipe away easily - and now that you can't just lift the lid, you have to use the foot pedal, my kids don't touch it much. The first one I ordered did not have the soft close, it would fall fast and sometimes do a soft close at the bottom but not all the time. I normally don't like the hassle of returns, but I did return/request a new one and so glad I did. It's very roomy and keeps odors locked in. The Simple Human bags are awesome - big, thick and durable but also super expensive. After using a few I decided to put one of my store bought bags over the Simple Human bag just in case it tears to avoid leaks. So far so good. The store bought bags for 13 gallons fits this 14.5 trashcan, you just have to stretch it slightly at the top to fit over the rim and don't fill it to the max. I may buy a pack of the Simple Human bags eventually but honestly the others work just fine and you only notice when you're putting on and taking off. I feel like I'm saving money and that in itself will pay for the actual trash can. The one con would be that it does slide. The pressure of stepping on the foot pedal causes the trashcan to slide each time and depending on where it's located can be a nuisance. I have it against the side of my island and the counter-top sticks further out so if the trashcan is sitting against the island completely the lid will bang against the island counter top. I just have to pull it away every now and then - but not a huge inconvenience.

Second time owner of Simple Human. This was a step on trash bin. I wished I bought the hand waving style. Kid closure is good. Yes, one order of bags included. Durability is good. Weight is good, stable, and good size for a small kitchen.

This arrived better than expected. It’s the nicest standalone waste bin that I’ve ever used. The bags fit well and are easy to put in. The full bags come out easily. The foot pedal works nicely and the lid is very quiet and effective. It’s attractive as a steel can goes. It has a compartment to hold more bags but after we used the ones that came with it, we just use the standard kitchen size bags from the store. After moving from a home with a hidden can in the cabinet, hubby wasn’t too thrilled that we were going back to a stand-a-lone trash can again. It seems you never have room for them and it’s never in a convenient place when you find room. And they are usually pretty ugly. But we both really like this one.

Expensive as hell. But man it kicks ass. We use Glad 13 Gallon Flex bags, and they just BARELY fit around the lid, but they DO work. You can use the simple human bags, but there just a bit more expensive. The greatest thing about this trashcan is that it holds so much more than any other regular 13 or 15 gal trash can I've seen. It uses ALL the available space in the bags. So I get thru so many less bags than before, and I only need to take the trash out half as much. It was a life saver. My wife had me taking out the trash every day or so, and now, I can get by with sometimes 4 to 5 days. It was ridiculous how much more volume we get with this sucer. Plus, I did a lot of research on automatic, or slimer designs, and I will tell you. A tried and true FOOT switch like this one, with a large bar that stretches across the entire front of the can, is the absolute way to go. It's sturdy and strong. Will last the 10 year warranty for sure. And it is very good looking. So despite the astronomical price, it's worth it. Trust me. It's worth it. Now go take out the trash because you know your small can needs to be replaced already and is still full. :)

Excellent product, an attractive update to our last simplehuman kitchen trash can that is being retired after 18 years.

Second one I'm buying. It could be a bit cheaper for what you get, but the pricing makes sense considering there is no real alternative.

Comme toute chose, si l'on souhaite acquérir quelque chose d'esthétique, durable, facile à utiliser, il faut mettre le prix... Cette poubelle est certes chère mais contrairement à d'autres elle répond aux précédents critères. Il s'agit d'une acquisition pour de très nombreuses années et non du jetable en plastique (pensons à notre planète). Les sacs de la marque, eux aussi plus chers que dans le commerce, s'adaptent parfaitement et sont effectivement d'une grande solidité. En plusieurs mois d'utilisation, je n'ai eu aucune fuite liquide dans le fond de ma poubelle ni de sac qui se déchire quand on les retire, ce qui est fort appréciable. Pourtant, je la charge au maximum. Je vous conseille de les acheter en grande quantité afin de bénéficier d'un prix plus attractif à l'unité (sur Amazon ou sur le site du constructeur). La conception en inox permet un nettoyage facile, attention toutefois à ne pas utiliser le grattoir de votre éponge afin de ne pas la railler. Avec cette poubelle, vous n'aurez plus de honte à la laisser apparente. Aucune odeur à déplorer (sauf quand on l'ouvre évidemment). Le petit plus est l'emplacement pour ranger vos sacs. Pour résumé, il s'agit d'un achat que je ne regrette vraiment pas et que je conseille sans hésitation.

The saying you get what you pay for has never been more true. Quality is fantastic, its so sturdy and lid opens/closes like a dream. Easy to use and clean, looks lovely. Even the bags are extra strong and fit perfectly/snugly fit under lid so you cant see them. On the very first day the sting of spending so much on a bin went away. Will last for years, making it well worth the money.
