I cannot recommend Medical Department Stores after my recent disappointing experience buying an Invacare wheelchair. We selected this company NOT because they had the lowest price for this item (they didn't), but because the photo and item title were exactly the item we were looking for. The chair arrived quickly, but was a different color and had a different armrest style than what was indicated in the photo and title. When we contacted Medical Department Stores, they informed us that the color and armrest features we ordered had changed and were no longer available. Checking with Invacare revealed that although the color HAD changed, they did still make the armrest style that we wanted (BOTH styles of armrests had recently been revised, but BOTH styles were still available).Medical Department Stores customer service informed us that there was a disclaimer in small print at the bottom of their ad that relieved them of any responsibility of making it right, even though they knew their photo and title were not correct and they hadn't bothered to change them.Bottom line, the Invacare wheelchair was OK and decent quality for the money, but not exactly what we ordered. Medical Department Stores "customer service" was basically some disinterested people reading their scripts about why they weren't legally required to do anything about the problem. They did finally say that we could "request" a Return Authorization (not given automatically, as they would need to review the reason for the return), but reading through their Return policy showed that we would likely be responsible for the return shipping cost AND a 20% re-stocking fee.I suggest caution in dealing with Medical Department Stores, because you cannot rely on their photos or titles being accurate. Their "disclaimer" means that they can send you pretty much anything they want to and you have very little recourse other than dealing with the hassle, expense, and re-stocking fees to return it. I know that I will not be buying anything else from them.

The EX2 is great for my elderly mom. She can move herself around in it comfortably. It's easy for the family to fold and unfold. It fits in the trunk of my midsize car. It seems to be sturdy. We just wish the brake handles were longer.I ordered on Amazon through Medical Dept Stores on a Sun night. It was delivered by FedEx Ground on Wed morning. It was shipped from "Shipping Dept, Invacare Distribution Facility North Ridgeville."While the chair is what we expected, shopping for it on-line was maddening!Photos did not always match descriptions. Some were outdated (blue no longer available, chrome may not be available) or included features that conflicted with the text (foot rests may be different or not included; arms may be different).Descriptions were sometimes lacking details about arms and foot rests. Thanks to other reviewers, I didn't rely on the photos to fill in the blanks. I knew from Invacare's website that chrome was being phased out, so was not surprised when ours was black and silver (photo submitted).It would be great if every page included the standard details. Ours, ASIN B006GRLQ6I, arrived with: Model (Tracer EX2), seat size (18x16), arm style (removable desk-length), Foot/leg rest style (not included), seat color (black), frame color (black w/ silver vein).Oddly, ASIN B002YMCWF8 seems identical, but is priced higher from the same vendor. Maybe it does come with foot rests, but I was not willing to risk it.

Tried to purchase this wheelchair through nursing home for Grandpa, using insurance, and even went to local cheap wheelchair stores. Even after insurance (good insurance at that), we were still going to have a bill for over $450.00! Got this on Amazon for $150, without even using insurance! Could not be happier! The wheelchair itself... Grandpa is very happy, who is very hard to please! The wheelchair is very sturdy, comfortable and easy to use according to Grandpa and myself since I even took it for a test drive.

I ordered the Tracer but got a Series 9000. I've been using Tracer's for 10 years so when I needed a replacement I was going to stick with it. This one uses some sort of nylon for the seat and I keep sliding forward. So I ordered a cushion that has a rear strap, now when I slide forward the cushion bunches up behind me when I scoot back and I'm back on the seat. Anyway, I'll get it sorted out and give this chair another star?

This wheelchair was a total piece of junk. It was light weight, which was nice. BUT, that’s a big but. There was no movability because at first use the tire came off the wheel. Put it back on, but immediately came back off. Left us stranded, unable to move. Contacted company and they are NOT willing to work with me. They refuse to replace chair or send replacement part. But they did tell me that they let the parts department Know of quality. And considered the matter closed. No money! No exchange! No replacement part! No way to get around!! Would not recommend.

i MADE A MISTAKE IN ORDERING BY SELECTING TH E 18" RATHER THAN THE MORE APPROPIATE 16I made a mistake in ordering an 18" width rather than a 16". That happened when I was given another brand replacement 16" and it felt really cramped and uncomfortable and I mistakenly thought the answer was to order the larger size. I was later able to exchange the uncomfortable chair for an invacare 9000 xt which I prefer over the Tracer EX2 as I found the revised way of removing the arm rests virtually impossible to use and resulted in considerably less stability compared to the 9000 xt. Since I have no way of packing and returning the Tracer EX2 now sits in the garage unused and unwanted. Any one living in the San Francisco Bay area, do I have a deal for you!'
