The media could not be loaded.  I made the best video I could in a dark scenario with a smartphone. While everything looks black, the room actually had a nice glow as I tried to show by filming the flickering on the ceiling.I first encountered this style of Flameless Candle from a company called Luminara. They are beautiful, really look like a real candle with a flame, but are also VERY expensive. There has been a recent wave of competition, and this candle by far is the best price of all brands for a substantial 7" X 3 1/2" (approximate) with a remote. This version is also scented with a pleasant Vanilla scent.This is a great candle.All versions are real wax, and have a battery compartment underneath, and some type of internal magnet system inside that causes the "flame" to flicker. This model uses 2 AA batteries, and yet gives off the same brightness as the other models I own which all use 2 D batteries. The flame color is an amber/yellow. Some models have a whitish/blue. Because it uses AA, it may not last as long as the D battery version (which lasts for 500 hours), but may save money since D are so expensive.My one minor problem is with design, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. It is only an ON/OFF model (using either a switch underneath or the remote). All the competition now has a TIMER option, so you can set it on TIMER and it will stay on for 4-5 hours, then shut off automatically. Then repeat at same time next day.I feel it is important as I usually use these at night as I relax and have a habit of falling asleep. Without timer, I have to be alert to shut off before dozing off, or I will be wasting a lot of batteries. Other than that, no complaints on style, brightness, scent or size. Inside was instructions, Remote wrapped in plastic, and Candle wrapped in Styrofoam sheeting.Also, as you can see in the video, I was able to turn both candles off with ONE remote which is a handy plus.

My husband purchased this candle for me and I absolutely love it!I had been researching this type of flameless candle for a while, checking reviews as well as prices. When this candle went on sale for approximately $20 I decided to get it. To compare prices, I found a similar candle at Pottery Barn for almost $60.This candle looks real from a distance and has a remote control with an on / off feature. I never thought I'd care about a remote control for a candle but it is so convenient to turn off without lifting the candle up, turning it upside down and clicking it off.I only noticed the vanilla smell faintly when opening the box and I haven't noticed it since; however I didn't purchase the candle for the aroma. I only wanted the aesthetic aspect of this candle, as well as always having the ambience of a candle around when I run out of real wax candles.I would highly recommend this candle as long as it's on sale, as I feel $40-$60 for a single candle isn't a value.

I just received this candle yesterday and it's so much like a 'real' candle! You will never know the difference aside from the fact you don't have to worry about going to bed and forgetting to extinguish it or worry about wax melting all over your furniture. I've been looking for a flameless candle with a remote at local stores, but the prices were just crazy high. The vanilla scent is a nice addition and isn't at all overpowering. The remote has dimmer settings and you can also set it so the flame and candle 'flicker' like a real candle and you can turn it on low so it has a softer glow. You can't beat it for the price! I'm considering purchasing a couple more. My husband loves it, too! I love the flicker flame. It looks so real. There are 4 timer settings-2 hour, 4 hour, 6 hour and 8 hour. I like this even better than some other flameless candles I purchased from a popular company and paid so much more for. The 'flame' makes it a winner and I love the remote and having so many timer settings. It's a win in my book!

This candle is fantastic. Last year at Disney World was the first time I saw these new style electric candles and I had to get right up to them to tell they weren't real. I said I need to get one since I have the other led type that don't show a flame (just flicker below the wax line) and I can't use real candles due to being born with asthma. In my research (mainly here on Amazon) I came across this Gideon candle and since the reviews were so good and the price was way below most of the others I took the chance and snagged it up. As I said, this candle is fantastic. It looks incredibly real when on, the scent of vanilla is nice and subtle, battery life is great and even though I wouldn't have thought it the remote comes in handy. If you're looking for a good electric candle then look no further.Highly recommended.

I've had this only a few days and I hope it continues to work just as it has been since I got it set up - it's honestly just great. It looks authentic and smells nice. I decided to try this charming and realistic fake because whenever I burn candles my husband worries that they are depositing residue on the surfaces of his oil paintings. I didn't tell him about this Gideon candle, just lit it up where I usually burn candles and he was amazed when I told him it wasn't real. He had to walk right up to it before he could see that the flame was not burning. So this is the answer to keeping us both happy as we do enjoy the ambience of candle light.One warning - it comes wrapped in a protective plastic sleeve, and as I was removing it my finger slipped and my nail gouged the real wax. Be very careful...

Bought this because we wanted to make use of a giant prosecco glass that was given as a gag gift and thought having a candle set in decorative glass stones would look quite effective. I have to say I wasn't expecting much as previous fake candles I've seen looked awful, however this one looks, feels and smells like a real candle. The flame is created from a warm led light reflecting off a piece of plastic which lightly rocks, so you don't see the bulb. The flickering effect it creates is hugely effective and bounces patterns of light off the fireplace like a real candle would. We have real tea light candles on occasionally as well and unless you point it out people don't realise one is fake. The remote is very useful so we don't have to disturb the display each time we use it and the timer means you can just forget about it and let it 'burn out' at the end of the night. You can also use it to set the brightness of the flame but we prefer to have it set on random candle mode for added flickering.

Really pleased with this LED / fake candle. It looks amazingly realistic and although more expensive than some others it is worth it as it looks and feels much better quality than most and not at all utilitarian. Part of the difference is that the 'wick' is a moving part rather than just an LED bulb which gives a better 'flame' effect. If you want a fake candle, this is a good one to go for.

It isn't that surprising this item is really good because of the reviews.The flame effect is so simple but really effective. The real wax and scent are good too, once it settles down after first opening.I've no idea what the remote control is all about for a candle! Maybe it can control several simultaneously to save switching round them all by hand. It seems to even have a timer setting to come on by itself each day. Nuts.

These are the most realistic candles I have ever seen. They have the most wonderful scent of vanilla as you enter the room. I have bought loads for my drawing room and bedrooms. They make wonderful Christmas presents too!

These don't look anywhere as realistic as others on the market but if you don't look at the 'flame' too closely, they do the job
