Great tool!
My evaluation of this device isn't complete but from what I have seen so far this is fantastic! I had to send the first one back because the battery wouldn't charge. That would be my one complaint is this needs to have a battery that can be replaced. Also, there should be the capability to plug an external power source into the device to gain longer use. But I'm only starting to find out all the information that can be obtained using this radar device. It seems flawless in its tracking the target and shot string. The info feedback is very helpful in determining where the shot is going compared to where the target is going. I look forward to using this to help train students.

Nice toy
Before I bought this unit I have read some reviewsSome said that the unit is slow updating and you are correct in this participant worldIt takes about 10 seconds to update between shots, a life time LOLI personal like that idea it makes me slow down in between shots, which in turn makes me shoot betterThe information I get helps me out a lotI load my own shot-shell and relay on recipes from load dataBy using this unit I just found out that load data is not always correctThe shot I was loading to be 1235 FPS as per load data turned out to be 1340 FPS WOW just a bit offI like this Garmin Xero S1 and I'm glad I bought it, as for me money well spent

interesting and useful
This is a good tool for trap shooters at all levels, but it has a poor instruction manual and is not explained well in online FAQs. It has a tight window for best use and you will likely end up needing Garmin customer support as I did. The good news: they are great. Engineer on the phone sorted it out for me in the context of my usage case, and it works well about 95% of the time now. It is kind of slow to state the shot analysis, and kind of labor intensive to set up and move from station to station. Some things are not intuitive and not clearly stated in the manual. That said, it is a unique and interesting teaching and learning tool if you are patient, persistent, and can live with the price. I do not always shoot with it because it is a little slow. Still, I am keeping mine, and shooting better since I got it. YMMV. Probably best use case is for a club or a coach who can offer usage time to several shooters and distribute costs across that user base.

Identified my shooting problem
I shoot competitive trap 16-27 yards & some games from 29 yards (not very well)Until I got this... What a cool tool/toy this is !!I set it up at 29 yards... yes, 29 yards and got results. It showed me I was shooting 27" low & left as an average shot location.I adjusted my trap gun accordingly and I went from breaking an occasional piece @ 29 to now a majority of solid breaks. It still shows 11" low left @ 29 yds now after 2 gun adjustments. Hopefully I can adjust it even closer next trip to the range. I'm not sure how accurate it is exactly, but it sure got me back in the game. Some really useful info in the app also... pretty friggin cool setup all in all IMO.Got the Amazon Basic tripod for it , works great also.

Don't buy it, get a shotgun camera instead
I was so excited to get this. It does work. However, the processor is too slow to make it useful. It's annoying. You have to wait before every shot and if you're shooting with other people, forget it. This is a lot cheaper now and I really wanted a training tool. This is not a bad training tool, everything is easy to use and works when you have TIME! But, the amount of time you have to wait for this stupid device to do what you want it to do is a non starter. I wish they spent the 20 bucks more on a processor to make this worthwhile for a sport that's time sensitive. I will have a bunch of mad people if I ask them for an additional 30 seconds while the computer "does its thing". Bottom line, bad purchase and buying a top of the line shotgun cam gave me the answer to how/why/when I miss. Ultimately that's what I'm after. Though it keeping score is pretty damn cool! This thing could be great, they just stopped and it simply offers no realized value.

Very good for beginners
If you are a beginner at trap shooting this will help you more than anything. When you miss without this you have no idea why or how you missed. If you shoot alone very hard to keep score, this will do it. Just very impressed with it but very expensive!!!

Amazing!
This device is absolutely ground breaking and does everything they claim. Mind blown. Couple tips... get a tripod and set up the S1 to be 36" tall. It will be much easier to use and view at that height. Also, if you plan on getting a case for it, the Pelican 1400 fits perfectly and has a nice cushion on all sides.

App is broken
The device is unique and has great potential. Too bad Garmin appears to have dropped the ball wrt the Xero S1 IOS app. I’ve attempted to pair 3 different Xeros to multiple IOS devices running iOS 16 to no avail. In each case the pairing fails with the “something went wrong” error.
