Ballistic SG MAXX for Samsung Galaxy SIII/S3 Black
***S
Screen cover sucks - otherwise good
Pros:1. Inexpensive full protective case.2. Easy to put on and take off (lay the screen shield on the S3. Then slip into the silicone rubber part of the case one end at a time. Finally slip the polycarb part over the volume keys then power button side). Easier if you leave off the screen cover which I do (see cons).3. The belt clip is easy to use and seems like it will last awhile. The belt clip portion is click rotate-able (0, 30, 60, 90...to 180 degrees - default position is in portrait 90 degrees).4. The cutouts for the buttons, camera etc. are well done. The buttons are all fully functional and are not too stiff etc.5. There are silicone covers for both the headphone jack and microUSB. They work well and you can fit a regular headphone jack in without needing to cut the polycarb or the silicone.Cons:1. The screen cover, while fitting nicely, isn't that clear. It has a iridescent grainy look which is very distracting. Pictures look horrible and you have to zoom into websites more to be able to read the text. You can forget about looking at reminders on the full page calendar widget - you'll need to open up the day/week to be able to read it. The cover being plastic I knew was not going to be as easy to glide your finger over as the phones gorilla glass, but it is not as smooth as the Zagg screen protector I have on my other phone. You also need to push harder than Zagg and of course the phone glass...Edit: Kept this protector on while waiting for a screen protector and browsing the Internet is a major pain...2. The dimpled polymor backing on the back of the polycarb shell is too similar to the polycarb touch vs the silicone layer. It is okay to the touch, but while not being quite as slippery as the polycarb, it is much more slippery than the silicone. Don't think about putting it on your car dash and expecting it to stay put on a 5mph turn. I wish it was made out of the same silicone that first goes around the phone, but that also may be less impact resistant vs the polymor if the phone is dropped. Also, the polycarb looks and feels like plastic.3. There are some mold lines on the sides of the polycarb, not bad enough that you have to file them down (very minor),but you may want to. There are also some heat marks above the flash/camera area. Not enough to get rid of the case, but looks a little cheap.4. No kick stand. I miss this on my old phone and some other S3 cases have this built in (see below for brand).Overall thoughts:If you don't care about the belt clip, get the non MAXX version instead (no belt clip or plastic screen protector).Or if you rarely plan on taking the case off the phone, then the Seidio Active Case (they have models with belt clip and kickstands or without) is a good choice. If you take the case off a fair amount, the corner tabs will break off and don't buy white on the Seidio as the color will change over time.I will keep this case and just buy one of the screen protectors (below). May also get a rubber dash mat.Screen protectors: Skinomi, Zagg, or ArmorSuit (All supposedly very similar though I have only used a Zagg before).Edit: I am getting the Skinomi screen protector as my friend did on his S2 and it is quite nice and only $9 instead of Zagg's way overpriced full body one (Zagg's non full body doesn't even cover all the front glass).

Great Case, Highly Recommended
I purchased this Ballistic case a couple of months ago and it has been great! The Rearth Ringbo Screen Protectors I purchased at the same time, on the other hand, were worthless. You can see my comments about the worthless Rearth Ringbo Screen Protectors under that disappointing product's reviews.I was looking for a case to preserve my very fine Galaxy S3 for the two years remaining on my contract. It Is a fabulous phone, but its beautiful, thin, slippery design was regularly slipping out of anything that was holding it, including any pocket or my hands. For Android phones, it appeared the toughest cases where the Ballistic and the OtterBox Defender. I chose the Ballistic because it was clear from from several video demonstrations this case protected the phone from all kinds of mayhem, and I thought the design concept was superior to the OtterBox. Having the more shock absorbent silicone layer next to the phone, inside the sturdy polycarbonate layer, made more sense to me. Impact from a sharp point would be distributed by the poly carbonate layer across the silicone inside. The extra protection at the corners just made even more sense.A few summary bullet points:1. While this case makes the phone larger, it is an excellent vehicle for holding on to the phone! I no longer drop it. The corner protectors are great for my thumb and second finger to hold and control the phone and the polycarbonate back has just enough tactile feel to stay in my hand. In addition, while the volume and on/off buttons work easily through the case, I am no longer accidentally pushing them as I try to hold onto the slippery art object. I think the feel of the phone is great in the case, and it makes using the phone a pleasure instead of an adventure.2. I am using the screen protector that came with the case, and it is perfectly satisfactory. After the utter fail by the Rearth Ringbo screen protectors I just assembled the phone in the Ballistic case. It is true the screen protector creates a very small amount of graininess, but functionally it is no issue and touch control is fine. Since my goal was to have this phone last two years, I had always intended to use the Ballistic screen cover on top of the failed Rearth Ringbo screen protectors. For the added protection that it provides, I am a big fan. (It is a separate piece so it can be left off the case.)3. The holster seems to be sturdy and the clamp has room for a belt, so it can slide along the belt. Access to all buttons and insertion points is preserved.4. The only con I have is that the return button at the lower right hand corner of the screen sometimes is a little difficult to use on the first push because of the silicone knob from the corner protector. It is never impossible to use, however, and I love knowing the phone is not going to break when I drop it, anywhere.

Very good protective gel case and back plate - rigid plastic screen protector
This product gets a full 5 stars.I have bought several different gel phone protector cases while having my Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone, and found this one to be by far the best - and which I have now permanently on the phone. The gel protector case is very sturdy and from the months I have had the protector case on the phone it has not shown any signs of wear. Also there is a solid back plate which fits round the back of the gel protector case to give it extra protection from impacts. The side buttons on the phone can be easily operated and the holes for the ear-phone jack and USB ports have flaps which protect them.I particularly like the solid plastic screen protector. Unlike stick-on plastic sheet protectors this is a solid protector for the screen and is held in place by the gel protector case and does not require messy stick-on adhesive to hold it in place. The phone screen is responsive even with the screen protector on.Recently, I had to remove the gel case to fit a wireless (QI) power charger receiver to the phone to allow wireless charging (so don't have to plug USB power cable in to charge). After a quick dust, the phone had been well protected by the case and looked like new. I saw that the phone was able to wirelessly (QI) charge without the case, I then replaced the gel case and the phone was able to wirelessly (QI) power charge with the case on.I do not generally write reviews or recommendations, but I would fully recommend this product, and have written this recommendation in the hope that rigid plastic screen protectors and this type of armoured case do become mainstream.

At last, a protective case that really means it
At last a protective case that really means it. My mobiles do take a lot of punishment and I am always trashing covers/cases with most of them only lasting a couple of months. My Galaxy S3 was looking very shabby and on its second cover after only 6 months (I really do work them hard). Now nearly a month into having this case the whole thing still looks like new with the tatty G S3 inside. The touch screen works fine as do all the buttons. The power/usb socket is easily accessible and protected by a silicone flap/plug. The audio jack socket takes the lead to the car radio whereas the previous Samsung case required a slimline jack plug body to fit. This case makes a big phone a bit bigger, but I do not find it a problem at all, in fact while taking photos you get a good grip, whereas before I always had the feeling the phone could easily slip out of my hands - not any more.Unless you never go out, this is THE case to protect your G S3.

Great purchase.
It's a bit bulky and makes your phone look like it's been working out at the gym, but after damaging two phones in a matter of months at work I was really pleased I bought this. The screen is not as clear as it should be as the cover has a sort of opaque effect, but you can see the screen reasonably clearly with the cover on. The cover doesn't affect the functionality of the touch screen but it does on occasion make it difficult to click "back" on the bottom right of the handset. After a few month I got fed up with the dust covers coming out of their respective holes and I cut the rubber away. The belt clip works really well and I'm certain that this case has saved my phone on more than one occasion. Also, I put the case onto the phone when they were both brand new and I think I've only removed the case a couple of times to clear dust from under the screen cover. Because of this there isn't a mark on the handset itself, the phone still looks brand new (unlike my friend who got his Galaxy S3 at the same time and has covered the phone in scratches and has had his handset repaired twice) I'll definitely buy a Ballistic cover for my next handset. Very pleased.

Pretty good.
The screen protector was rubbish, but optional. However without it the case is a tiny weeny bit loose around the corners.I really recommend the product based on it's ability to protect. It survived a fall of 3 metres when I was sitting on a wall ( don't ask).It has survived frequent drops out of my pocket, and it was hit with a rubber bullet ( thrown, not fired).Excellent product, recommending to my friends... if i make any.

Ballistic Shell Gel Maxx Case for Samsung Galaxy S3 - Black
This is a solidly built case for the galaxy S3.My mobile feels safe and well protected in it.Materials used are of good quality. The only problem stopping me fromgiving it a 5 star is the screen protector which is a bit hard and fails to make good contact with the screen. You have to press a bit harder. But overall good product.
