Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core, 12-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor with Wraith Stealth Cooler

This CPU has been the heart of my main desktop for years and it's still going without a single issue. It handles everything I throw at it and I've never felt like it was the bottleneck in my setup. The part that surprised me most is that I'm still on the included Wraith Stealth cooler. I expected to replace it within the first few months like everyone says you should, but temps have stayed fine under normal load and I never had a reason to upgrade. For a stock cooler that comes free in the box, it punches well above its price. If you're building or upgrading on a budget, this is one of those parts that just quietly does its job for years. Easily one of the best value purchases I've made for a PC.

The AMD Ryzen 5 3600 is hands down one of the best processors for its price range. With 6 cores and 12 threads, it handles everything I throw at it with ease, from gaming to productivity tasks like video editing and 3D rendering. The Zen 2 architecture provides excellent performance per watt, and I’ve noticed significant improvements in both speed and efficiency compared to my older CPU. Even under load, the included Wraith Stealth cooler does a good job of keeping temperatures in check, and it runs relatively quietly, though you could always upgrade to a more robust cooler if you're planning to overclock. Speaking of overclocking, the unlocked multiplier makes it easy to squeeze out extra performance if needed, though it performs impressively well at stock speeds. The Ryzen 5 3600 also shines in gaming, with excellent single-core performance, ensuring smooth frame rates even in demanding titles. It’s also future-proofed with AM4 socket compatibility, so you can pair it with a wide range of motherboards. I built a custom rig around 9-10 years ago i running Windows 7 with GIGABYTE motherboard, stock cooler, 8 gigs of mediocre RAM, Cooler Master mid tower, Corsair 850W power supply and 4 hard drives in the inside bays PLUS 3 other external drives and a MSI R6870 video card. I got the free upgrade to Windows 10 pro and little by little my rig started failing. I did my research for a new custom build but not rich. I read all the positive reviews on this new CPU so started saving money to build a new rig. I bought a new MSI Unify motherboard (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YWF1G9S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), 16 gigs of Rip Jaws memory, www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07X8DVDZZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1, bought an Adata 1TB M,2 NVME drive, for my OS, (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K1J3C23/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), bought a new video card (MSI Gaming Radeon RX 5600 XT Boost Clock: 1600 MHz 192-bit 6GB GDDR6 DP/HDMI Dual Torx 3.0 Fans Freesync DirectX 12 Ready Graphics Card (RX 5600 XT MECH OC) and went to work. I addeda 3TB and 2TB hard drive to this rig for storage and I can't say how happy I am. This CPU is FAST and for the price, you cant beat it. I'm not a gamer but do music and video editing and this CPU flies through everything I throw at it. My old system used to take about 4 minutes to boot. NOW, my system boots in less than 20 seconds. I didn't add all this new fancy, smancy water cooling stuff and my temps stay at around 90 degrees fahrenheit. I'm VERY happy with this CPU and even let the kid play a couple of games now and then online. If you are on a budget, as I, get this CPU as your center piece and build around it. Remember, it is an AMD 4 CPU so you may have to upgrade to DDR4 RAM and save your money for a X570 Chipset motherboard so you get the most bang for your buck. Don't forget to get an M.2 NVME Gen 4 SSD for super fast loading of programs. I'm not into overclocking but you can overclock this CPU if you wish.

Disclaimer: This is recent tech as of the writing of this review so if you're unfamiliar with BIOS flashing or Chipset updates, you may want to read up on that first. As time goes on, the drivers and hardware will be built in and it will become more plug-and-play. This CPU is an absolute steal for the price. With performance comparable to higher-end Intel CPUs at half the cost, this is the solution for anyone who uses a computer for gaming and other applications. While Intel might pull ahead slightly in a strictly gaming sense, this CPU keeps up and absolutely excels when you add in other programs running at the same time. Paired with a GeForce 1070, this CPU is running modern games at 1080p 144fps without breaking a sweat. It's a nice bonus that I don't have to close out of the other apps running on my PC, such as streaming software, since the CPU welcomes the challenge of multiple applications. Pair it with some high speed (3000mhz+) RAM and an SSD to really see how fast your PC can go. For $200, this CPU is a no-brainer if you get your hands on a motherboard with an AM4+ socket. The included cooler is decent if you won't be overclocking but I chose to use an aftermarket cooler to optimize temps. There's not much to say for ease of installation: you lift the retention arm on your motherboard and match up the triangle corners on the CPU and motherboard and then gently place it into the slot. It'll "drop" in and then you'll be good to go.

Great CPU for the price.

This is a great CPU, fast, easily overclocked, very forgiving, you can really push this CPU and it will just take it and keep going. Overclocking is easy and games run like greased lightning with this processor. If you run VMs, it will do that with ease as well. I only take a star off because frankly, the included CPU cooler is garbage. It immediately let my CPU get up to the thermal limit of 95C on any serious load. If you buy this CPU (and I do recommend it), get another heat sink and use that instead of the included one from AMD. The included one in the package is NOT able to keep this processor cool enough to keep it safe under use. It would be better if they didn't include this junk cooler at all and told you to just go get your own, because at least they wouldn't insinuate that this cooler is enough, which it isn't. People probably have fried their CPUs thinking they could use this cooler and didn't understand why their brand new PC build kept shutting off on them. Pair this purchase with a 3rd party heat sink/cooler.

This is basically the 97 Corolla of CPUs. It's older technology but really cheap, well supported, and good for most mid-range and under scenarios. You won't find better value for consumer grade hardware outside of the used market. This typically beats the 5500 in real-world scenarios thanks to having double the chache and better connectivity support.

Great CPU. It has definitely been an upgrade over what was is in my system before (Intel i7 860). Plus, the packaging was not only clean and without breaks. But (and I didn't know this), a layer of thermal paste was already on the CPU coolers bottom, which helped because I had forgotten to order some. Would recommend this CPU for someone wanting to build a medium-budget computer as not only does the CPU perform well but is still cheap for the performance you get.

初自作です。コストパフォーマンスが良いとネットで見て 初心者ながら色々情報を集めた結果、このCPUにしました。相性の問題も起こらず起動できています。 あらゆる動作がきびきびしていて非常に快適です。 流石6コア/12スレッド、ブラウジングやゲーム、ペイントソフトや動画鑑賞などのマルチタスクでも 私の使用環境では処理が遅くなることなく使うことができています。暖かさは、付属のクーラーで十分に冷やせてとても良い。しかも、そのクーラーのデザインもかなりかっこいいのでオーバークロックしないならわざわざ別のクーラーを買う必要はないだろう。ただ、値段が少し張るのがたまにきずだ。最近は、インテルのcpuの値段もかなり下がってきている。amdはコスパがウリだったけど、少しそこは薄れたかも。まとめると、とてもいいcpuだが、インテルのcpuにコスパでは負けるといったところ。自分はとても気に入っているのでおすすめではある。
