His conversion story reads like a modern St
One of the most Christ-like figures of the 20th Century, Sundar Singh has sadly been forgotten--if he was ever known--among American Christians under 40 years of age. In his time, particularly in the first quarter of the 20th century, he was rightly looked upon as a modern St. Francis of Assisi as he walked the length and breadth of the Indian sub-continent in an effort to present Jesus to them. His conversion story reads like a modern St. Paul, and the life he lead subsequent to that conversion was nothing short of phenomenal. Western Christian leaders had difficulty understanding him, as he donned the sadhu's robe and presented Christianity to his Hindu, Sikh, and Muslim neighbors in a way they could understand--and that left Western believers somewhat bemused. His strident stance against materialism, the shallowness of European and American Christianity did not win him friends among the religious leaders of the West, but the average Christian reader understood.

his teachings represent a unique perspective
the author--represented by the character "Sadhu"--was an ascetic Christian wise man who dedicated his life to the pursuit of the wisdom of God in India. and who used allegories and interpretation to convey such wisdom through conversations with the character "Seeker". who inquires with the wise man for knowledge and truth. the seeker seems to support eastern religion--including pantheism and the teachings of Confucius.the Hindi word "sadhu" generally means "wise man"--its etymology can be traced back to Sanskrit.the quality of the translation is very good--which helps make this book a quick read. add to that the comprehensive nature of the author's teachings. the reader could finish the book in a day to receive a dose of godly wisdom.instead of walking through the realm of western rationalism, the author's theology learned to walk through a realm of eastern mysticism, so his teachings represent a unique perspective and nature.Wisdom of the Sadhu: Teachings of Sundar Singh and nature.

Excellent summary of this unique Christian from India
Inspiring and informative. Sundar Singh has a fascinating story. He had a rich spiritual life and remained positive in pointing to Christmwhile living on little. The bit of criticism he does offer is quite helpful not hurtful. Highly recommend. Thanks to the author for putting this together!

Lovely prose that is not only insightful but charming as well
This book is written with a Seeker asking questions of the wise Sadhu Sandar Singh. I love the simplicity of both the questions and the answers. Examples given to clarify a question are so down to earth. The book seems almost to have the flow of poetry at times. I would recommend this to anyone, any age. It is lovely!

I really loved the book
I read this years ago but never got a chance to finish it. Bought it again and just kind of lost interest in it about 3/4 through. I really loved the book. Can't explain why I lost interest.
