Wonderful, exhilarating for reader, enjoyable for parents to re-read
Pros:The main character is fearless Dory in five (5) books. A four- now five-year old girl was enthralled and excited every time her parents read any of the books. She's anxious to read the sixth Dory book.I'm waiting notice from her mother. How did her daughter respond to Abby Hanlon's latest book, "Ralph Tells a Story." She inhaled five Dory books. How did she respond to the female protagonist Dory vs. Ralph. I hope it wasn't an issue.Cons:None

Great fun!
My daughter absolutely LOVES this series. She finds Junie B, Fancy Nancy & Kenna Ford too boring about real life. She loves that Dory has such a wild imagination and fictional characters. Book 1 was her first ever chapter book she read on her own in kindergarten and she has flown through books 2 and 3 from the library. She was was so excited to finally see book 4, she read the whole thing in two sittings! I wish I could find another series interesting enough for her to read as independently as Dory! She laughs and exclaims with incredulity through each chapter!

Motivated my daughter to read
I read the three earlier books a couple of years ago with my daughter. She just got number four for Christmas. My daughter is nine and not a big reader, so I am amazed and thrilled she devoured this one in two days. She giggled and shared silly parts with me and I’m thrilled. I know Dory can be a little mouthy and naughty, but she’s real and funny. My daughter is reading and laughing- and I’m thankful. Now to buy #5.

Exciting book for 7 year old
We have struggled to find books that my 7 year old daughter wants to read. When she found the Dory series she willingly read to finish the book and always asked for the next book. All of her friends read it too. Highly recommend to get the into reading for fun 😀

My son’s favorite series!
Another great story about Dory! This is a series that my son begs to read, and one that’s so funny and creative that I never mind reading “just one more chapter.” The favorite characters are back and up to their shenanigans, along with some magical new ones! Abby Hanlon never disappoints, and we are ready for another installment from her...hint, hint...

A hysterical character full of endless imagination!
@kidlitexchange #partner —— All opinions are my own. This is book # 4 in the Dory Fantasmagory early chapter series. Dory (aka Rascal) is quite the character who definitely has her head in the clouds. The story begins with Dory having to wear her sister’s hand me down coat to school. It’s a bunchy coat and not something she is very happy about at all. We follow her to school and watch as she makes one bad decision after another. At the same time, Dory has her very first loose tooth. Her siblings tell her that the tooth fairy only brings money to good kids and eggs to the ones who are bad!!!This is such a fun book. Dory’s actions and witty comments are absolutely hysterical. I loved her imagination as well. At one point, she declares that the tooth fairy no longer wear wings, but instead parades around in a bathing suit. Having a very spirited daughter myself, I could relate to many of her actions and outbursts! I also loved the little friend who comes over the play. She’s incredibly sensitive and loves to clean. This is the first book that we have read in the series. We had absolutely no problem jumping right in and sorting out the characters. Dory’s nemesis is an imaginary lady named Mrs. Gobble Gracker who causes her own sort of trouble. She reminded me of Jack Frost in the Rainbow Magic Series - a bad character, but it’s handled in such a humorous way that it’s not scary. The illustrations are fantastic!! This would be a great book for readers ready to make the transition to chapter books or as a read aloud for grades K-3. Be prepared for many laugh out loud moments!
