Exactly what I wanted/needed
I purchased a home a few years ago. I had never had a home or been in a home that had a remote control for the ceiling fan before. I know basic electrical house wiring and found that whoever did the wall mount ceiling fan/lighting fixture wiring for the main bedroom wasn't very knowledgeable. After I shared pictures of the wall mount switch in the office; someone told me it was a remote. After searching the ceiling fan model and brand on the internet, I was able to determine that the ceiling fan/light fixture also would operate via a hand held remote. This device operates fine, no issues at all. It turns on and off, and dims both upper and lower lamps; turns on and off, as well as adjust speed and rotational direction of the fan. Totally operates the entire fixture flawlessly. It comes with a wall covering; in case you want to make it a wall mount switch, and it also comes with a handheld case for remote operation.

You assemble yourself
One remote only but all the pieces needed to have it as handheld device or put on the wall (white and off-white options). Easy to assemble one way or the other. There are four dip switches that need to be set to match the ones in the fan. I had no clue what the fan was set to, so I had to try out different settings until I got it to work. I had no instructions, so it took some work to find how to program it. You need to hold down the fan off button for 5 secs within a couple of minutes of powering the fan. If you need to try a different set, the fan must be off for 1 min before trying again.

Easy replacement
I really just needed the receiver (part that installs inside fan) but the extra transmitter allows me to have a remote, in addition to the original switch that came the fan. I have had to replace the receiver in another similar fan so it seems they last about 7-10 years based on my experience. The switch transmitters do last longer (still working for both of my fans).

A Must Have for Ceiling Fans
I purchased the Monte Carlo CT100 remote and receiver to be installed in Monte Carlo 4VG42/28TBD-L Villager 42-Inch ceiling fan. CT100 allows us to control fan speed as well as light dimming from hand remote or wall switch. Since both are from Monte Carlo I wish they would make the remote receivers to mount with something other that wire ties, but with that said I was able to make it work without much trouble. Comes with both with and beige covers.I have installed the CT100 on two ceiling fans. One is mounted on a landing with a that use to be controlled with a 3-way switch. I was able to install two remotes, one at the top of the stairs and the other at the bottom. Just remember that if you have other fan remotes in your home you will need to change the codes on remote and receivers so they don't turn on other fans and lights.

Versatile, works well
The remote is reasonably attractive and works as advertised. I particularly like the wide selection of faceplates and installation options. There's nothing hard about installing it, but the instructions were poorly printed and, even after you deciphered them, were confusing. One particular point to note: The "on" direction of the DIP switches on the transmitter is opposite that of the receiver; on one you push the switch up for "on", on the other you push it down for "on". They are labeled in tiny print, but that's easy to overlook. I had bought a used unit, and the transmitter switches were set to the inverse of the receiver code. It was pretty clear that the previous owner had reversed them and returned the unit because it wouldn't work. Once I reset the switches it worked fine.

Image is deceiving
You get a battery switch that can go in the wall OR in the remote. It is ONE or the OTHER. It works great but not what was expected.

Title and photo are misleading. Dim button seems to throw it into self destruct.
The title is quite misleading, as is the photo. The term "interchangeable" would fit nicely in there. But when I bought it, I already knew there was only one in the box. The product works (mostly) as expected. For some reason, if I push the dim down button it has no effect on the light but rather causes the fan to go in reverse at a speed I was not aware it could even reach. Turning it off either needs a different remote or some odd series of button presses while panicking that it will go flying off the ceiling. Up, down, left, left, down, A, B, start, I believe is the secret code.

Bada Bing!
Immediately out of the package it worked. Pure luck I suppose, as the switches weren’t all aligned, they just happened to match our fan.The fan was installed by a previous hike owner, and the remote they had was a wall switch, encased in a homemade wood box. This remote included both a wall mount and handheld option, we opted for the handheld and haven’t looked back.
