First. The sound... This head unit has outstanding sound reproduction and the 9 band equalizer is outstanding to dial your system in. It has frequency cut-offs, and wave adjustability. The subwoofer control is the first option when you hit the music note. That is nice as that is the only thing I adjust after the equalizer is set. The phone/mic sounds outstanding. Just like talking right into the phone. Layout is fine, but will take a little time to get familiar with, just like any unit with many features. FM sounds like a CD even with my antenna extension disabled for looks. I still get every channel is perfect sound. My Android connected very fast and with ease. One mild frustration...It auto plays Google playback when the phone is selected as a sound source. Makes it take longer to get Pandora running. The shine on this unit does make it difficult to see in the sun in my convertible and the color on the buttons are only visible when the sun is down or stereo in shade. Otherwise the buttons look like a glass color even if set on bright gold/yellow. The display is not affected as much by the sun. I love the brushed aluminum on the bottom half. Looks really nice. Finding files on my USB drive is very quick and easy. I would not chose any other deck with the similar options. Alpine did a great job on this with quality of sound being top notch IMHO. One thing that would be great. Make the whole deck brushed aluminum to decrease the super shine which reflects light too much. Overall, I have to give this 5 stars as I can't think of any other unit I like better in the same category of receivers.

This is an excellent product, one of the best auto stereos Alpine has released on it's medium range of products. So easy to install, with crisp, powerful audio. It has a very clean design which I love, functional and great bluetooth conectivity. This stereo gave my Camry new life. I've been an Alpine fan since the 1980's, when they used Lamborghini in their ads, this is the best I've bought from them.

pretty easy installation. make sure you get the right trim kit that fits your vehicle. lots of options. the hands free bt calling works great. I used this unit with an mrvf300 so can't comment on the 18w rms to normal speakers. Takes a few days to figure out all the different controls but you could just read the manual as well. I did not have to cut away any brace material in my car like fitment sites said. very happy with it.

Let me first state that I am in no way an audio expert. The installation was simple. Everything just plug in and go. The screws weren't long enough to mount into my dash kit, so I just had to visit the local hardware store for some longer screws. The head unit looks great. I really like the different color choices for the lighting. Visually, I kind of wish the font on the display screen was smaller. It really can't fit many characters horizontally across, which is odd considering how big the screen in. Having 2 lines helps though. The head unit has way more settings for sound than I would ever use. At first I tried some custom tuning, then I went with a built in EQ setting, and finally I ended up with one of the Bass Engine SQ settings. The Bass Engine SQ settings are really simple and sounds great, although I'm sure more of a real expert would know how to manually set it and make it sound better. Bluetooth works great. My phones calls sound great through it, and media streaming is easy and sounds good. Hands free calling is so convenient and much safer to drive, especially since I have a stick-shift. The Pandora function is a little frustrating. It has trouble connecting to my phone. Once you get it connected, it works great, being able to thumbs up and thumbs down right from buttons on the head unit. The trouble is just getting connected. I would say it only actually connects 1 of every 5 attempts, if that. I can't tell if it is an issue with my phone or the head unit. I simply could just stream by bluetooth input, but I'd like to be able to use the built in features if possible. Along with the head unit I also purchased a new XM satellite tuning kit. It allows a lot of new features over my older tuning kit. Most notably, you can pause live radio, and fast forward/rewind within some time limitations. This is great for when you receive a call, or run through the drive-through, etc. All the features are accessible through buttons on the head unit, and work well. In general I'm very happy with this head unit. It has a ton of built in features, and all sorts of sound settings for both experts and novices.

I can't say enough good things about this head unit! It is amazing. I have this unit powering 4 speakers. Then running to a 4 channel amp bridging one side of it for the sub and the other side of it for 2 additional speakers for my car. (4 doors and rear deck). The crossover setting makes this super easy! The customization on it is amazing as well. You can set the display whatever color you want, and the keys whatever color you want. Literally! Amazing head unit overall.

Installed in my 2006 Mazda Miata, looks great, sounds great, bluetooth works very well with my iphone, Siri commands not as good as my other unit seems the microphone with the top down dosent pick up as well as my Pioneer HU i had, still trying to figure that out to make it better. Screen color can be set to close match of the factory dash color for a seemless look. Yes the font on the screen is huge and its bright, a plus for a convertible when your top is down and the sun is out, my last HU was to dim to see in the sun, not this one! Tons of settings to dial in everything , 9 band eq, sub, presets, with the alpine app you can save and share your setting as well as try others. I added the KTP-445A Alpine 4 channel 45W RMSx4 plug and play amp , love it. Update 7/17, left front channel intermittently cuts out at low volume, increase to 12 and plays normal?

This product reaaally surpassed my expectations!! Looks great, works AMAZING with my iphone 6s, calls over Bluetooth are excellent and the microphone works great! One of its amazing features is the alpine tune it app, which allows you to tune your stereo via your phone usb cable and you can safe up to 100 direrents tunes and also you can share them or look for tunes online. Works fantastic. And last but not least important, it have a built inn cross over for front, rear and subwoofer speakers, you can choose which db ( decibels) you want in those three sections loudnes, ect. This radio is a MUST!!!!!! I if you are looking to buy this unit i do recommend you to get also the Alpine KTP-445A. The KTP-445A is a plug and play amplifier for alpine car stereos, it provides 4 channel 45 watts RMS per speaker @ 4ohms. I do recommend this combination to anyone!

Very pleased with this stereo. Fit the bill perfectly for me. Was looking for a non-dvd/screen, double din head unit w/ Bluetooth to replace my failed factory cd player. Made my factory speakers sound a lot better too. Also at $199 Amazon has the best price around.
