I can't say enough good about this camera
I can't say enough good about this camera. It arrived on time and in perfect condition. In my opinion I got a great deal for what I paid. This D2xs will serve me well for many years to come.

My Bad Older Camera Was Hoping For The Best
Very Dirty Inside, Tried To Clean However Nikons Repair Quote Was About 300 dollars For Clean And Minimum Service, A lot Of Cropping and Editing Still See Flecks On Digital Prints.

Megapixels don't matter.
As an enthusiast, i was really impressed with the image & build quality of the D7000. I still own this camera & still love to use it for indoor work, low light performance is still impressive. The D2XS was a choice for it's speed of handling, although the megapixel count is now ancient, the image quality is truly a beautiful thing & only shooting with it can relay it's images on a personal choice level. The build quality, function structure, performance, focus speed, battery life, viewfinder are all reason enough to pick up this machine & enjoy photography. For the used price of around $1000 (with 5K shutter count) i feel lucky to have encountered such a deal. Between the D2XS & D7000, my investment was minimal to continue taking pictures with some decent gear.

Great Digital Camera
This camera was a great camera for me. It was my first Nikon camera and I liked it. I moved on to another Nikon camera. And I got a great deal from Amazon.

Great camera, novice photographer
The camera is fine, but I have to learn quite a bit about the operation of it as I am used to shooting in an auto mode.

Amazing machine
An amazing construction - the D2Xs is a paradox in itself. Strong as an ox and yet as delicate as a butterfly - this camera is control and power in one rock hard package. Simply the finest Pro camera you can buy without needing a 2nd mortgage. In the words of a Mr F. Bueller "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up." Every feature you can think of in a camera is present - and many you can't think of. Many a night I'd reading the manual - commenting to myself 'I wonder....oh - they already did' I would write a longer review - but the beast is calling me again...quietly ...from its bag... I must obey! I must heed that slumbering monster's will. I must go out and capture the world in digital form. I'll finish off with another Ferris quote. "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it". Well - he obviously DIDN'T know about the D2Xs speed-framing mode...

Nice full sensor camera
It is literally just the camera body. The hand strap would have been nice to have but for the price I paid I wont complain too much. It is a great back up system for me to use as a second camera or for second shooter when I need two photographers.

A good well built user even in 2019..
It's old tech? Yes.. But i find the camera to be usable even today. I also use a D700 mainly for landscape use the D2 cameras for everything that will not get me to upset if i dropped it in a lake. I own the D2H, three D2X and now the D2Xs that just came delivered today.. All have fairly high shutter counts and in different states of cosmetic condition. Funny thing my D2Xs looks new but has almost 280k on the shutter, the highest of all of them. Bought from KEH $52.00 as parts or repair when all it needed was a little electrical contact spray on the switches and the lens contacts cleaned. The image quality is what is to be expected from a 2006 model but with PRO results with a little post processing is good, I'm not printing posters. The Dynamics are lacking in low light but i bracket three frames and exposure stack when i need that extra shadow detail. As far as ergonomics, it's heavy and i like heavy cameras with manual non VR lenses. It balances well and with your body still or against a solid object you can shoot at some low shutter speeds. The viewfinder is what sold me on the pro models seeing your focus for me is important. Peripheral view is stunning through a 100% field of view. The menu is easy to understand (READ THE MANUAL), the LCD screen is only 2.5" but i just need to see exposure results histogram and how the white balance turned out. Battery life is that of a Turtle, auto focus is quick and responsive and 98% spot on. In short if you shop you can get these cheap i would recommend to a friend. A little PP required but you will be surprised in the end.
