Almost great cordless phone
This system was replacing another Panasonic Cordless system that had been left out in the rain. We use voice mail from the cable provider. In the old system there was a light and a button that you could push to access your voice mail via the base speaker phone. There is no easy way to access VM with this system. We now have to access VM through the phonebook which requires 3 button pushes rather than just 1. As far as I could tell, Panasonic has dropped that feature from all of its phones. The other negative is that the "on" button is a bit small. Other than that, the phone works great. I like the big caller ID screen and the voice quality is excellent.

Call blocking alone makes this worth the cost.
We are all sick of those robo-calls numerous times a day and the national "Do not call" registry is a joke. This phone will block up to 250 numbers. I have cut way way down on those agggravating calls by blocking each one as it comes in. I wish the process of blocking did not take so many steps, not difficult to do, but just seems it could have been simplified. I will do whatever it takes though to stop the nuisance calls. The phone has other nice features - a nice large display that is easy to read, talking caller ID, the ability to set different ring tones for incoming calls from individuals, speed dial buttons, etc. it is a nice phone, the battery lasts a long time off the hook, has a long range from the base, and you can add more handsets. I am very pleased with the phone.

AWESOME PHONE SYSTEM
GREAT PHONE SYSTEM. WE LOVE THE FACT THAT YOU CAN BLOCK UP TO 250 NUMBERS FROM CALLING. YES, 250. THE PHONE BOOK WILL STORE 100 NUMBERS. WHEN A BLOCKED NUMBER CALLS YOU CAN CHOOSE TO HAVE IT RING ONCE, OR NOT AT ALL. EITHER WAY IT WILL SHOW ON CALLER ID, SO YOU CAN SEE WHO CALLED. YOU NEED TO HAVE CALLER ID FOR CALL BLOCK TO WORK. I HAVE SAVED OVER 50 NUMBERS TO BLOCK SO FAR, AND THE QUIET IS GREAT. WE LOVE THIS PHONE. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE IS SOME PROGRAMING STEPS TAKE MULTIPLE BUTTON PUSHES, BUT IF YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE MANUAL, YOU CAN DO IT. WE DOWNLOADED THE MANUAL FROM THE PANASONIC WEB SITE, SO WE CAN SEE IT IN BIGGER PRINT ON THE COMPUTER. THE MANUAL THAT COMES WITH IT IS SMALL PRINT. WE LOVE THE INTERCOM FEATURE WHERE YOU CAN CALL FROM ONE HANDSET TO ANOTHER. YOU CAN TALK TO SOMEONE WHO CALLS ON ALL THREE HANDSETS AT THE SAME TIME. SPEAKER PHONE IS NICE. SOUND QUALITY IS GOOD. BATTERY LIFE AND RANGE IS VERY GOOD. YOU'LL LOVE THIS SYSTEM !

Not what I was expecting
I bought this system to replace an old Uniden TRU-9465. I use the base as a speakerphone for conference calls and other customer support functions and to be honest the speaker in the base is horrible. If I could send this thing back I would. The sound is muddy and unclear so I have to resort to the handset speaker, which is much better. Next phone, back to Uniden. Pros: Good clarity on handset and handset speakerphone operation Good battery life especially on standby off charger Range of handset OK, nothing special Cons: No flashing Voicemail light on base Base speaker quality so bad it's not usable Many Configuration options are not menu driven, but are key codes Base of handset not completely flat, easy tip-over if used as speakerphone Display very primitive looking, large pixels

Programming on base unit...thanks for the heads up in the instructions.
The instructions that accompanied this phone were such that I was about to hire a 12 year old to program it for me. After a great deal of frustration trying to understand how to get it programmed, I happened on an entry that said that some programming must be made with the handset, and not on the base unit. They should write that phrase in 2 inch high letters on the very first page of the instructions. Otherwise, a very good product, and I would have given it 4 or 5 stars if I hadn't had so much problems programming it.

Great phone system, good quality, can block alot of numbers
I set this up the day I got it. Works great over 2 different floors. Liked the ability to block over 300 numbers since these days every call is a robocall, political call or a scammer who got a hold of your phone number. Too bad the do not call list is useless, and unwanted political calls cant be blocked and are made almost on a weekly basis. Heaven help us when the midterm elections gets near, the I might have to unplug it when the next presidential election in 2016.If politicians spent the money they waste on calls and taking money from lobbyists, they might have to listen to the average person one day. *Term Limits* Lobbying is legal bribery.* Sorry for the rant. Phone works great, good speaker quality and recordings are clear.

Okay, but ....
~~~~~~UPDATE, 10 October ~~~~~~~~ Regarding the CALL BLOCK ... I was disappointed to find that the phone will still ring (albeit only once) even when you block a number. My husband is disabled, and sometimes we need a "quiet time" ... there seems to be no way to stop these dang auto calls. As I said in my original review, I believe nowadays you could use all 250 spots on one business. I know I can quiet the ringer altogether, but that has a few too many steps for my liking on this phone .. that's one other thing I don't like about this phone. But, at least it can be done. Still happy overall with this Panasonic KX-TG6843B DECT 6.0 3-Handset Cordless Telephone OH, still the VERY BEST thing about this phone has GOT to be the AUDIBLE caller id !! It is just too funny. :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +(1) LOVE the White Screen and Large Text. +(2) Love the (always fun!) audible caller id ... you never know what you are going to get! You can have fun with programming your phone book :) -(3) DON'T like ONLY 9 Speed Dial Numbers, plus they don't dial that person when you press the appropriate number ... you still have to press 'send'. Nor do they copy to all the other phones, like the phone book entries do; That was a pleasant surprise! +(4) The phone is comfortable to hold, it's lightweight. It seems to recharge pretty quickly. We are still using the batteries that came with it (Ni-MH AA batteries). +(5) The phone will stand up on the desktop sturdily. +(6) LOVE THE DATE AND TIME on the screen ... I've never seen that on a home phone before. +/-(7) My husband and I used the 'intercom' feature yesterday. He was at one end of our one-story house and me at the other. Phones worked okay for a few minutes then all of a sudden he started breaking up, really bad. Maybe it was on my end, but I couldn't hear him at all for a minute then he came back. Then he said he couldn't hear me ... that went on the rest of the time we talked, about 30 minutes. No idea why this happened. Pretty aggravating, but I don't suspect we will use that feature much. +/-(8) As for the NUMBER BLOCK feature, so far we have one number blocked, it's a sales call for "FREE CRUISE" My husband and I agree that blocking these 800 numbers is pointless because these companies have dozens of phone lines ... blocking one number will just have them call from another. You could use up all 250 spaces on one company almost. +(9) The SPEAKER volume is excellent, we think. The VOLUME on that INTERCOM is almost too loud (for me, anyway) Even all the way down it is very loud/clear. +(10) Guess this should have been number one, but overall it was easy to set up, out of the box. +(11) Seems to keep charged up for a long time ... several days. For us anyway. +(12) We've had it since the 22nd of September or so, and so far so good.
This is worth almost any price for a single feature alone
I owned a previous generation Panasonic DECT 6.0 coreless phone / answering machine set, and never had any problems with it. When my wife saw this new set, she asked what was wrong with the old one - absolutely nothing. But this one claimed to have a feature that I wanted to try out, and it works as advertised. This phone will BLOCK any calls whose identity / phone number is masked. Prior to connecting this phone, we would get 30-40 calls a day from "caller unknown / unknown number," despite being on the useless "Do Not Call" registry. The calls would stay connected until the point that the answerer would prompt to leave a message, at which point they would hang up. If we were out for the day / weekend, we'd get dozens and dozens of hang-ups on the answering machine. This phone automatically blocks such calls. Calls with spoofed numbers will still get through, but you also have the option of manually adding specific numbers (250, I think) to the phone's internal number blocking list. The effect has been amazing. We went from getting 30-40 unwanted calls a day, to maybe 3-4. This feature alone is worth the price - our phone carrier levies a monthly charge for call blocking; this phone would pay for itself in less than a year at the rates our carrier charges. A couple of upgrades from our previous Panasonic phone - lighted keypad, ability to make speakerphone calls directly from the base station, and belt clips for the handsets are nice additions. It is a little unintuitive to program, and it doesn't play the outgoing message from the answering machine when it is taking a call, so it is a little disconcerting to hear 20 seconds of silence before the phone stops ringing and an actual caller starts to leave a message. But these are minor quirks. If you are tired of getting unwanted anonymous robo-calls, BUY THIS PHONE!!!
These are the worst I've ever had
I've use Panasonic phones for twenty years. These are the worst I've ever had. Keeps losing connection to the base even when right next to it. Sound quality is low. We have other Panasonics on another line and they are great. They are a little older so maybe the quality was better then. Very, very disappointed with this model. I've had them for two years.
Déception linguistique
Ce téléphone que j'ai commandé par AMAZONE.CA en janvier 2015, mais que je viens d'installer dans ma maison (2 novembre 2015), ne contient aucune instructions en Français. Il n'offre que ENGLISH et SPANISH. J'ai acheté un produit qui m'a trompé et si on m'avait indiqué qu'une vente par AMAZONE.CA ne respectait pas les lois canadiennes sur la langue d'affichage des produits, je n'aurais pas conclu cette transaction. Très déçu de cet achat chez Amazone.ca.
