Works, special note on the dip switches
The battery ran out on my old chunky remote, so I figured it was a good time to upgrade to a slimmer keychain remote (especially since I couldn't find any A23 batteries that were not in a 20 pack: I only need one!)So I verified this should be the correct one for my Sears Craftsman door opener. When I got it, I was very frustrated for a while as it seemed not to work. I set the dip switches EXACTLY as they are on the old remote and it would not work (I even tried reversing the order, something I saw in a review of another remote, still didnt work). Finally, just as I was about to give up, I noticed the first Dip switch says "40" on it while the others say nothing, and my original remote said nothing on the first switch. So on a whim, I tried the first dip switch in a different position and bam! it worked. So if you set the dips and it doesn't work, try changing the first switch.(the little instruction pamphlet said nothing about this)The range seems very limited compared to the original remote. The old remote would seem to open the door from several houses down, while this remote only seems to work within the driveway and I have to point a specific way directly to the garage door. But it works, so I don't think thats a big deal really.

FOR SEARS CRAFTSMAN OPENERS ONLY.
I purchased this to add to the one I already was using at my home.I didn't read closely enough. Thinking it was a universal remote I ordered. This comes from a third party vendor shipped through agreement with Amazon. Shipping was so very slow that when received I had forgotten about the order. It had no directions. Through Amazon directions were requested but nine were ever received.I had a handyman try to program because I assumed he would be able to figue it out which he was not.I requested a refund and for the first time ever I was disappointed with Amazon because no refund was issued by Amazon nor was the vendor forced to refund. Not being able to make work I have two observations to share. First nothing in the unit or packaging states it is for Sears Craftsman and second it is very small and cute.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS!!! Read Me to make yours work!
I have a 1993 sears 1/2 HP garage door opener (motor) with a green "learn" button, model 139.53629SRTI thought you had to get the dip switches a certain way- you don't. And I'll teach you how to make it work on yours. First, you aren't programming the REMOTE when fiddling with programming, you are programming the DOOR OPENER (motor). So, you can set the dip switches to WHATEVER YOU WANT. It doesn't have to match another remote's dip switch settings - in fact, if your door is using rolling codes, it can mess up BOTH remotes.1. Open the little remote and set the dip switches to something complicated. Take a picture of it or write it down somewhere if you like.2. Push on the LEARN button on your door opener until it blinks, hold it for a moment while you do the next step.3. Push the REMOTE button while still pushing the LEARN button on the door opener (motor), watch the light for a change in blinking. It should go solid, or turn off.4. Try out the remote, it should open/close the door! You're done with that remote!5. Try out your other remotes to make sure nothing happened to them, and reprogram them if you have to (not likely). Most of these old door openers can hold quite a few remotes in their memory.I looked around for more than two hours for this, and eventually had to figure it out myself. It doesn't look like any manual online covers this, so just be glad I posted it. If it doesn't work on your door opener, do your own research and try your own way! Good luck!

works great with a little fiddling
To get it to work, I had set all the dips to match my other opener EXCEPT I had to fiddle with the very 1st dip. If you don't get it working the first time:- Try all 3 combos of the first dip- hold the remote with the LED light closest to you. Yes, basically hold it backwards. For some reason it's SUPER SUPER sensitive to how you hold it. i've tried rotating my thumb in all different directions, holding it away from my body, etc. Nothing works except just pointing the corner where the keyring is out away from your hand.Besides those quirks, it works great and from a pretty decent distance.

Decent
I used these to get access to my apartment complex gate. The "clicker" they gave me with fell apart often and I hated having to carry that bulky one around. This one easily fits on my key chain and has a range better than the gate opener provided by my complex. These are cheap and were easy to program. The signal range over time seems to weaken (this is why I gave a 4 rating), but I have still never had an issue. When I drive up to my gate, I don't even have to remove this item from my key chain (my keys are still in the ignition) and they work fine. Not sure how they would work in the cold, but definitely have had no problem with them down here in Houston. I have had several other friends purchase these as well and they enjoy them.

Sensitive to orientation
We have a Sears Craftsman garage door from the days when President Reagan was imploring Mr. Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall. The original remote take up too much space in the car, so I wanted to buy a much smaller one. This one with 9 dip switches, each with 3 spots (-1, 0, +1) fits the bill and it was the cheapest I could find. Opening the plastic cover to program the switches required long finger nails and some wrestling, but afterwards it was easy set it up. This remote works OK, but it is a lot more sensitive to how I hold it compared to the original giant remotes. Quite picky. I got used to it now, but on my first day with it I almost gave up thinking it was not compatible with my door opener.

Cheap But Breaks Frequently
I like that it's small and I can keep it on my keychain and in my pocket.I went through 3 of these before finally getting one that seems to work reliably. The first 2 stopped working within a week and I exchanged them on Amazon. The 3rd one got wet (my fault) and stopped working a few days later. The 4th one has held up really well - I've had it for a year now and have had no issues. Given that it's only about $12 and that Amazon lets you return within 30 days if it stops working, it's not a bad deal.
