Pops Bass Rosin

Quality product that works and does the job it's supposed to do.

This stuff is the Beyoncé of bass rosin—iconic, reliable, and a little bit dramatic. Pops Rosin grabs those strings like it’s got something to prove. My bow went from politely whispering to belting out solos like it was auditioning for a Broadway show. Smooth grip, perfect pull, and just the right amount of stickiness—without turning your bow into a lint roller. It’s like bass confidence in a tiny tub. My husband doesn’t get it. He thinks it’s just “that gooey stuff you rub on your stick.” But I know better. This is magic in a cup. The moment I crack open that lid, it’s like my bass says, “Let’s do this.” Warning: it can melt in warm weather, so treat it like a diva—store it somewhere cool and shaded. You don’t want your rosin becoming a tragic puddle of ambition. Bottom line: If you want your bow to hug those strings like a long-lost friend, this is your rosin. Pops doesn’t play around—unless it’s on a double bass.

Pops rosin, nice and soft and tacky -grabs the strings. I'm not an expert on bowing, just get by enough to saw away at some jazz solos. I'm assuming my technique is awful but Pops and some coarse hair do the work for me.

My daughter's bass teacher is very particular. He only recommends this Rosin and it was worth it. My daughter immediately noticed the difference when she switched to this brand.

Great product. My only wish is to return to the foil cup instead of the paper cup.

The classic stuff. Nice and sticky for my not expensive bow to crank on my electric standup bass. (It’s a zeta crossover. Anyone know where I could find a tripod stand for one? Zeta is gone.)

You get what you buy. Remember that all bass rosin is soft and will melt in warmer weather, so be careful. This rosin isn't any different and does it's job for my public school bass players. I recommend it for school use. I would buy a more quality rosin for the professional or semi-pro player. Remember that different climates may require different rosin. (humidity makes a big difference)

I've been using Pop's for many years and I know how a fresh cake is supposed to look and feel. The one I received was not fresh.

Better than most bass rosins, stickier. But all brands dry out over time. I rejuvenate mine by putting them in the airing cupboard for a few days. None of the "basschat" websites have cottoned on to this. Give it a try!
