Minn Kota 1854125 Cable & Handle/MKA-49

If you are tired of breaking pull ropes/cords on the Minn Kota Edge trolling motor this little guy is for you. The install is easy and you don't have to worry about when the next rope is going to break again.

Another brand pull cable on trolling motor had broken at the end opposite handle. The fastener at end of Minnkota cable is sturdier.

I own a Skeeter Boat with a Minn Kota Edge 70 lbs. thrust trolling motor. If was difficult for me to find out whether this cable was going to fit my trolling motor. So I’m posting for your information to let you know that it does fit this particular motor. The cable is of very high quality and should last for several years. I purchased my boat new and the trolling motor came with a nylon rope. Recently the rope was becoming frayed so I ordered this cable. As you can see from the photos you have very little room (tight space) to install the small clevis, pin and locking nut. It took me about 15 minutes for the complete install with the majority of the time trying to get the clevis, pin and locking nut in place. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you’re needing a new trolling motor cable.

Great product so far, but has only been installed for 1 month. Extremely difficult to install; lining up the parts just right and manipulating them carefully with a needle nose pliers took quite a few tries. You have very little space to work in, and its even harder to do if you don't trailer the boat, and are doing it while perched on the bow of the boat in the water.

Tight fit on minn Kota edge, but works well. Replaced original rope, minn Kota should use cable on all trolling motors.

While it works great, easy to install, etc. it's wildly overpriced. I should have just went to the hardware store and bought a coated steel cable and replaced it myself using my factory Minn Kota handle. Rod Saver also makes a cable replacement to use your factory handle. Again, this is a great product but you're paying for convenience with this mostly assembled easy installation product.

Over priced but it is the only show in town if you want a OEM cable/handle. The instructions for the MK Fortrexx install are a joke. Follow these YouTube instructions instead and it is about a 10 minute job: [...]3 stars for overpricing and lousy intructions.

Installed on 80 lb thrust Maxxum, raised motor well.
