Leslie Vernick, a counselor, writes amazing books for use in going deep into your heart to assist with resolving stress, anxiety, upsets and relationship issues by learning to deal with your thoughts and beliefs. You won't find excuses or places to hide in these pages but you may well uncover the real cause of deep hurts, and a way to healing and a more Godly life. Her definitions of self-esteem, self-love and self-image are very helpful. (If I hear one more person claim an exemption for bad behavior because they have low self-esteem...)If you are a Biblical counselor or in a position to counsel others informally, this would be an excellent reference book for your library, after a thorough reading.The marriage book (How to Act Right...) is also excellent. Several women and I went through that together and it was life-changing. What made the book even more valuable was to cut and paste all the scriptures she references in the chapter (it will be several pages) for review throughout the week because, after all, it is the Word of God that she is illuminating. Again, in this book she helps the reader focus on their own behavior despite how someone else is behaving.

This was a very timely book for me. Humility is such a gift from God and lived out daily through the life of Christ as our example and through the Holy Spirit living in us we can live a life of humility. I am so thankful for this books road map to that life.

Everyone needs to read this book! So well laid out with such valid points. It gives you lots to think about and apply to be a better person and love God as He wants us to.

Outstanding book! If you heart's cry is to serve the Lord, then you would well to read this book. Serving God we must empty ourselves and allow God to fill us. The book offers great guidance with plenty of supporting scripture.
