I want something harder, not too soft, how does this hold up? currently using those kids eva mats. using for edema. how far does it compress?

If you are simply resting your feet on the foot rest or gently moving them from place to place I would guess it compresses less than an inch. It feels very soft under your feet, but also supportive. It gives nicely, but bounces back quickly.

can you remove the cover and wash it?
