This gable mount fan works great so far
This gable mount fan works great so far. It was Easy to install. Makes a bit of a humming noise, but nothing too bad. Cools my house off by at least 10-20 degrees on hot days.

Lasted less than four months.
this system lasted less than 4 months. Do not flush your money As I have. The fan motor is no longer working. the solar panel is fine. I trouble shot with a 12 volt battery. The Fan motor is bad . Surely I can expect a $315.00 dollar solar fan system to last longer than four months. I did plan on purchasing several more before this problem came up. Go another route? It was mounted in the roof of a greenhouse exhausting up. I still have three other units still functioning as they have for over 4 years. Those units only cost $160.00. from another Manufaturer. Those I would purchase again if I could find them.

Very easy install
I bought this product to help cool the attic of our home (about 1300 sq ft). I know the product is not made to cool something with that much open space but, I have a plan on purchasing additional hardware (another fan and panel combo and two more panels).I layed everything out on my porch and connected it up to test the hardware before installing it, literally is was only two wires to plug in. With the panel laying out in the full sun and the fan on my table, it turned right on. It was good to be able to see the fan working. It also gave me the opportunity to check a couple of things:1. See how much air flow the fan does put out2. Check for noises, etcThe only time the fan assembly makes noises is when there is not enough power (i.e. not enough direct sun on the solar panel). The noise is noticable, but not overbearing. I have installed my fan assembly on the gable over my bedroom and do not hear the whining noise at all inside the house. I hear it slightly when standing directly underneath of the gable outside, but only barely.Installation: I made my framing for the fan itself and mounted it before even climbing into the attic. I also installed the mounts onto the solar panel frame. I literally was able to climb on the roof, drill a hole for the cable, mount the solar panel to the roof and caulk the holes in less than a half hour (includes putting up and taking down the ladder and hauling the tools - cordless drill/screwdriver, caulk, screws and solar panel). I also was finished in the attic in under a half hour, I do confess I had my wife climb up with me, hold the fan and mount in place and hand me tools. It was a very easy install and the included nail in mounts to hold the wire, were very helpful.Cons:Shipping: The package did show up beat up and I could hear the parts knocking against each other when I slightly shook the package. I thought the solar panel would be broken, but it made it in one piece. The fan assembly, mounts and screw packages were poorly packed for shipping.Directions: I only have one minor issue with the directions that were sent with the equipment. The directions were obviously for an older model with different mounting points. It was easy to figure it out, but could confuse people. All in all I am happy with the product, and will be purchasing more soon to more thoroughly cool the attic.

do research
The fan was packaged well with no dings on the box, but one of the fan blades had a chunk sheared up, about half the size of a dime, how their q/a missed that and still sent it is puzzling. But there is more; it is supposed to ship with 8 screws to mount the fan housing posts, I only got 4, and the 8 screws used to mount the roof clamps to the solar panel were too small, I ended up using pop rivets instead. All this after I ordered 2 day delivery to arrive according to amazon on Saturday, it did not arrive until the following business day. This company sells extra solar panels at $136, so this means the fan costs $90??? Save yourself money and buy a 12v fan, you can get a good one for around $50-$60 and a 40w solar panel, not a 12w, for less than $150. The fan works good but this set up is way overpriced. For the same money you can get a more powerful solar panel and fan. I have over 15 years as an aircraft mechanic (lots of sheet metal work) and a couple years working on electronics with an electronics degree. I have noticed only about a 5 degree drop in my attic temp, which is 1000 sq ft with a 4 ft center height.
