The Best Infant Toy!
UPDATE: For those concerned about washing the toy. I've seen a few reviews stating you cannot wash it. I always washed mine on delicate cycle with Dreft and air dried it. Washed up real nice. No issues.Mortimer the Moose was a hit with my daughter who is only 3 months old but VERY active and attentive. The moose has so many nice colors to attract my daughter's attention. In fact, as soon as she saw the moose, she smiled and kicked.Given the size of the moose (fairly large), it is not a problem for her to handle it since there are so many places she can hold on to. She is easily able to grip onto the mooses legs and/or "ring" tail (the tail of the moose is 2 textured rings, which makes for easier handling with little ones that have such small fingers). The ears are gummy and great for teething babies. But for my 3 month old who has no teeth just yet, she is content to suck on the mouth of the moose which is soft, instead. The nice thing about this is I don't have to worry about the fur coming off and her choking on it.This moose is wonderful for her motor skills. I like the fact that it is all-in-one--a chew toy (ears are gummy); a rattle (2 hoofs rattle), a crinkler (two hoofs crinkle when squeezed); has play rings (tail is made up of 2 colorful, textured rings); a stuffed animal (something to hold that's soft and cuddly); the scarf crinkles; the body of the moose has a squeak toy inside, so when you press the body it makes a squeaking noise; and last but not least, it even has a hook (ring shaped with opening) to allow you to hang the moose any where you'd like. For the price, it's a wonderful gift, a great deal and will sure to be a hit with the infants! (BTW, even my 3 year old loved it!)

Fantastic baby toy and cheerful lamp ornament
A friend had one . . . we then bought one for another friend . . . fell in love . . . kept THAT one hanging around our home . . . bought another for the one-year-old friend! We aren't sure how we all made it through babyhood without Mortimer. He's everything you could ask. Cheerful beyond belief, with big soulful eyes--a Moose of many moods--and a happy smile; and he crunches, squeaks, rattles . . . you name it, plus offers opportunities for grown-ups to make conversation by naming colors, shapes, patterns. He also has a cute round body, silky fur, and antlers you can chew on. Well, we HAVEN'T, but you CAN. Also, no offensive new product smells, which can't be taken for granted. And a very reasonable price. He's hanging from my husband's desk lamp, and fine companion for paying the bills. And when the next baby visits, we are ready!

Moose vs. Peacock --> MOOSE WINS!
We bought this for our baby and also received the Lamaze peacock as a gift. Our baby definitely prefers the moose. We started him off with the peacock since it's a little smaller, but he never played with it much. At first we thought he was too young to appreciate it so kept placing the peacock in his lap and shaking it encouragingly at him. But he continued to ignore it. Finally, spurred by my friend (who told me her baby was reaching for toys that have a ring on one end), I busted out the moose, which has rings on its butt, and offered it encouragingly to our little boy. He still won't reach for it, but he definitely loves it, grabs onto it when we put it in his lap, and stares at it intently when it's not in his lap. He will play with it and wrestle it, and my husband told me that our nanny goes to the bedroom to find it for him all the time because she also noticed that he likes it.In hindsight, we think he likes the moose better because it's easier for him to handle. The spindly legs are easy for small hands to wrap around, and he likes hanging onto the scarf. He chews on the antlers, and the nose, and yes, the butt. The two rings on the butt make a clinking sound that he also likes and he hangs onto that part as well. The peacock is a little too bulky we think and doesn't have any easy-to-grab parts besides the ring, which now that I think about it is the only part he ever played with. He'd grab the ring and put his mouth on it. Perhaps we will revisit the peacock when he's older to play with the different parts of the tail, but for any kid who likes noisy toys and has basic motor skills of grabbing things and putting it in his/her mouth, this moose is a hit.Note: this toy is MACHINE WASHABLE(!!!). It says so on the tag and makes me very happy. Our peacock says "surface wash only." We haven't machine-washed him yet (but we plan to). I did rinse him under the sink and let him air dry before handing him to our kid and he fared beautifully.

Very fun and cute teether
Our baby has a camping themed room so it only felt right to get him a moose teether. This toy has a great variety of textures and sounds that our little boy loves exploring. He is particularly fond of the antlers. I'm not sure if it is the texture or the shape, but he will go for this over any of his other teethers he has.

Mortimer is Perfect!
When my grandson was three months old, my daughter said he had really started to be aware of some of his "toys." Time to do some shopping! I read the reviews and description of Mortimer the Moose and purchased TWO; we have another baby in our circle due soon, need to "stock up." Mortimer and his twin arrived and I couldn't have been more pleased. Mortimer's bright colors, varied textures and lovability were just perfect! I wanted to keep him, but I sent him off to his new caregiver. And Parker is thrilled! I'm looking at a picture of him right now on my computer monitor desktop, he has a death grip on one of Mortimer's ears and half of Mortimer's face in his mouth! This is a perfect gift for 3+ months, an age that can be challenging to "shop for." Mortimer is well constructed and has lots of features to capture the attention of a baby starting to become aware of things around him/her. I have also purchased Jacques the Peacock and can't wait to send him off to Parker, to add to the menagerie! I highly recommend this product.
