Ya Otta Pinata Shark Pinata

I was expecting a little, dinky sized piñata and was happily surprised that it was way bigger. Could fit two big bags of candy along with prizes in it. Built tough. A zip tie is used as a loop on the dorsal fin on top. It only lasted a couple kids before breaking off, so we had to improvise to keep going. Was a great purchase and the kids had tons of fun.

After one reviewer said the top fin came off very quickly, I reinforced it with two zip ties on either side of the fin and then attached those to the rope holding the whole thing and it worked really well! It did break open and spill some candy but not all the way, so more turns hitting it and more fun to be had......lasted longer than expected but again, lots of fun! It was a big hit!!

The shark pinata was cute and not too scary for the 4 year-olds at the party. And it was extremely sturdy. We didn't do the blindfold but let each child have several whacks with the decorated whacking stick. That little blue shark held up through 6 children having multiple turns and finally we brought in an 11 year-old big brother who plays baseball. He didn't break it so a Mom grabbed the stick and gave it a powerful hit to break it. (And the little ones selected one piece of candy - we had to convince them they were allowed to fill up their treat bag.) Then the kids had fun wearing the shark as a hat.

This shark held plenty of candy and was fun at my boy's 4th birthday party. The hanging "hook" was on the fin, and the fin broke off before the pinata really broke open to let candy fall, so I would suggest to others that they hang it from the body of the shark instead. All in all, a good purchase.

All the kids got to swing and hit this pinata twice at my son's party and the last kid was able to break it. Just five kids at the party. It was perfect.

This is a cute pinata, but I noticed that the zip tie that was attached to the cardboard dorsal fin, from which it is intended to hang, didn't look like it would hold up well. I even contemplated trying to rig something else. Wouldn't you know, at a birthday party full of excited 4 year olds it broke at the dorsal fin after the first hit. At least the birthday boy took the first hit, but no one else got a turn. Super disappointed. Would not recommend.

I guess you get what you pay for. Unfortunately shark pinatas are not found locally in my area, so I had to purchase online. I knew from the description that the pinata wasn't large - but it only took one bag of mixed candy from Costco and it was packed to the max after some creative shifting and shoving. We had to reinforce the loop to hang it from because the loop was located on the fin -- extremely stupid in my opinion because the fin is a thin piece of cardboard stapled to the rest of the body - no way it's going to hold up four pounds of candy.We fixed the issue by wrapping several layers of heavy duty fishing line around the body of the shark and connected that to the rope so the weight was evening distributed.Regardless, the kids got a kick out of smacking around Jaws, and whether it was the pinata or the reinforcement of fishing line it did hold up through nearly eleven 5-9 year old boys before finally cracking open.

If you are looking for a shark piñata, this is it. The piñata arrived exactly as pictured and described... Totally awesome! My 5 and 7 year old sons loved it and then it was a big hit at the party. It wasn't too hard or too easy to break but sturdy enough to hold a ton of candy. The size is perfect, probably like a medium-sized one, which we used for a party of 15 kids. I definitely recommend,
