Amazing book with awesome advice.
I read this book in its entirety in one sitting. I have read many books on Bipolar Disorder in the past two decades. This book is unique in that it focuses on preventing relapse. Dr. White is a professional who has the disorder herself and it is evident through the helpful tips she gives in order to prevent a relapse. Other books I have read have focused on just taking medication and going to therapy, which most people already know. This book focuses on the most critical components of staying healthy and out of either mania or depression. Sleep, eating a proper diet, activity and having supportive people in your life. The book has a link to charts that are printable to begin using right away. I have found them to be very useful in my own recovery and it is very easy to track your progress. Just to note that this is not just a book that can be used for Bipolar Disorder, my adult daughter saw the book and skimmed through it and asked to borrow it, she has Depression and Social Anxiety Disorder, and she called it a "lifestyle management book" and it is. It is by far one of the best books I have read about Bipolar Disorder and one that I am able to keep using over and over with the charts. Thank you, Dr. White, for an amazing tool that actually works.

Excellent information - written by a professional with BPD
There is a large amount of good advice, excellent information, and ideas in this well-planned and well-written book on bipolar disorder. The information is practical and compassionate. It was written by a professional with bipolar disorder. It is recommended reading. The only issue with the book is that the first main chapter is a sales pitch for the medical model, with the cliche mantra, in summary, take your medication! It is an oft-repeated theme that is overdone here, with sympathies for Big-pharm. Other than that... it is a great book and a great read! and helpful for anyone with bipolar disorder.

Preventing Bipolar Relapse
This is a well thought out and informative book about Bipolar episodes. There is a wealth of information and some really great tips. My only two qualms are that I feel like much of the information is basic and just plain old common sense and in this age of information many people with mental illness are well read up on their disorder, and this book doesn't really add anything new. Another issue is that with so many link to websites and charts I feel like this book would have worked better as a journal with all the charts and recording sheets included in the book.Overall I do think that this book is a good starter guide for people recently diagnosed as Bipolar and I would recommend this book in that context.Note: I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Accurate and Informative
Accurate and InformativeSometimes I review a book out of interest. This book I reviewed out of desperation and urgent need of help. On the verge of a family crisis I reviewed this book before attending our first meeting with a psychiatrist. The doctor was amazed and impressed at the knowledge I shared (specifically the charts that we had completed in the two weeks since the initial pre-diagnosis). The information is given in an easy to understand method. The charts focus on specific tasks that the person diagnosed and their family can understand. Words cannot express the gratitude that I feel towards Ms. White and her information. Factual yet simple. Information given to a hungry family wanting to help prevent a relapse. Hope offered to those who felt left behind. NetGalley and Newharbinger Publications, Inc. provided an advanced review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A reasonable self help book
Good book. For the most part about general healthy living though with bipolar bits added in. A reasonable self help book for those unsure how to live healthily with bipolar disorder.

As Advertised
Received this book as advertised and in great shape. It is a discarded library book. Very pleased that I was able to buy used instead of having to buy new.
