Wonderful food for thought
The book provides a thorough theoretical introduction to some great areas of thought and care provision -- it will open your eyes to new ways of thinking about yourself, your family, your community, and those you care for. The text is at times dense and repetitive, and there are some typos peppered throughout, but the value of the ground being covered and the short length of the book make these things easy to look beyond. Helpful too is the summary chapter in the middle that helps crystallize the theoretical components laid out before that point. Note that if you are looking for a manualized therapy system, you'll want to read elsewhere -- the section on practical applications is not very structured, and is meant more to begin giving examples of how to apply the theory that occupies most of the text.

Strongly disliked, poor writing and over complicated
The writing style of this book and the complex theories presented were a poor combination or theoretical confusion for me; didn’t enjoy it and wouldn’t have ever purchased it if I wasn’t forced to have bought it for my graduate course. It’s outdated in my opinion

Good for me
I'm a social work student and I was taking a class on system theory. This was good for definitions. Since it's under 200 pages you can find what you're looking for fast.
