Husband is impressed
I ordered this for my husband's shop. They do some machine work on engines and other custom work. Business has been extremely slow economically in our area the last few years. We have to watch every penny. Not to mention, Murphy's Law. Our equipment and tools seem to either break, wear out, get out dated, or some special request that needs a particular tool.I mentioned I could research prices. I keyed in what he was looking for and he selected this item. The main reason he picked this item was because of the price. He saw a well known name one that looked almost identical to this one and it was twice the price. His regular supplier catalog listed an even higher price. He said to order this one item as long as it got him thru the job it did not matter if it was a piece of junk. He would deal with getting a better bench block later. (He gets a little cranky when he is under pressure.)It arrived much quicker than we thought. My husband opened the box and took it out. He rolled it in his hands, lifted it up and down, and rolled it around some more. My husband's exact words, "I'm impressed. This block is much better than I thought it was going to be. I would have liked it to be solid but it has a good weight. I have to use it to make sure." He measured the holes and "V" depth and angle. Again, he was impressed. Our guys and that includes my husband, are very rough on tools and equipment. They use unconventional methods of making things happen. What ever it takes to get the job done and make things as professional as possible. We have had this bench block for over a week and used it several times. It has a few scratches but looks like it will be around for quite some time.Thank you Amazon and the seller. We will be back looking for more items.

Its smaller than I thought it was going to be.
Are you looking at getting into some light to moderate gunsmithing? Thinking about installing a new trigger kit into your pistol, maybe taking your [insert AK variant name here] bolt apart to properly clean it because you never cleaned it in the 11 years you've owned the rifle? This little bench block will save you HOURS of headache. I've tried using everything from cutting boards to pieces of 2x4 with holes drilled into them to help me push pins out but this is better than all of that. Its pretty small, a drivers license will almost completely cover it, so it doesn't take up much space but it is very dense so it won't move around on you while your trying to drive that stubborn pin out of its home. Its hollow so when you do finally get that teeny tiny pin to pop out, you just pick up the block and grab it before it rolls off your table and disappears forever. The base is really flat so as long as your working on a flat surface the pins will stay inside until your ready to lift it up. The top of it is actually pretty tough, but it hasn't left any marks on anything I've used it on yet. I love mine, and if I ever do somehow manage to break it, which I seriously doubt but hey, could happen, I will probably buy another one of these.

Decent little bench block, hundreds of uses.
Good bench block! It's hollow in the inner core, but still solid and has a decent heft to it.Mine is very level, no complaints. Finish quality is good, a few blemishes, but all cosmetic.I use this for clamping odd pieces, punching out drift pins, fixing 100-year-old scissors, punching out old leather rivets, banging new rivets, clamping at my drill press, and a jillion other things. Great to have.

I have just received my MAY-BB37 Bench Block. I purchased the bench block to work on guns, and not in a machine shop. The picture looked like the top was covered with a thick nylon or plastic top. Also a comment in "ask a question" mention that it was made of steel and nylon. Actually this is one solid piece of steel. It is very well made, so no complaint there, and it is heavy....1.6 lbs. This is the reason for only two stars, the misleading information. As I said I just received it and I will make an attempt to use it after covering the top with tape, so as not to scratch anything. I hate to be negative on something that I haven't as of yet tried, but I do have some doubts.

Well worth the chips!
This is worth the chips! While it is a simple device that could easily be made in the shop, you couldn't do it in time alone for what this cost. Having the proper backing for pushing out pins is a real time and frustration saver. Well made, heavy and a very good buy.

good small block.
I used it once to drive out a roll pin from a small shaft, and then clamped into a drill press vice to cross-drill another small shaft. It's handy to have and has a spot in my machinist chest.

I haven't used it yet. But this tool has many potentials for technicians with the skill to compromise when necessary. I didn't but this tool a particular task, I bought it for future tasks that I may need it for. I'd rather have the toll and not need it. Than need the tool and not have it!

Nice Rock Solid Bench Block
I got this bench block to do some minor gunsmithing work and it works like a charm. You get a nice solid heavy chunk of metal and it seems to be of good quality. I've been banging away on this thing and it does the job. No issues no complaints. For 17 bucks you really can't go wrong.
