These have a water- and air-tight cover, which is perfect to prevent spills and keep smells out of the ice. An important step to take with silicone molds is to wash them with soap and water, then bake them (empty) at 350° for at least an hour. I did mine for 2 hours and it still seemed like they had a smell when they were hot, but the smell was gone when they cooled off and the ice has been perfect. These trays are rigid enough that they don’t flop around when you fill them with water, but it’s still easy to remove the ice cubes.

Just love these!!!! Lid ensures that ice cubes are protected from smells and small particles. Lid easy to remove and replace - just start in one corner and work your way to the opposite side. Ice cubes easy to remove and does not require any thawing to ensure ease of use = gently push individual cube up from beneath and it releases right away. My 11-year old twins use it with ease. Compact and takes up little freezer space. Mid size cubes - not too small and not too big. What's not to love? Planning on getting another set. Feedback is based on daily use for > 2 months.

I loved that you could seal them with a very easy lid! Did not. Like how hard it was to remove the ice cubes. However!!! After using them several times they were easy to remove and I would recommend them to everyone!!!! Just be patient in breaking them in!

These ice trays are just what I was looking for---a bit smaller than regular trays, and if you leave them sit for a minute on your counter, the ice pops right out when you use a finger to push on individual cubes, so you can just use what you need at the time. Best of all, the covers prevent the freezer's defrost feature from making the ice disappear over time. They appear to be made of durable, good quality silicone.

Really love these trays for making ice for cocktails, though certainly they could be used to make delightful frozen cubes of anything. There is a bit of a learning curve to getting the cubes out of the trays. I've found that twisting them lengthwise in both directions and then bending the short ends a bit so the middle cubes pop a bit helps a lot. They do smell funny when they arrive, but we have never noticed any transfer to the ice.

Love these ice trays. Just don't overfill. Lids fit securely and are easy to put on and remove with no (except when I overfill) spillage. I go all around the lid lip, pressing as I go, to make sure it is on. Ice cubes are easy to remove. Let them sit for a minute, flip over, press on each cube indentation and they pop out. Mine had no odor as reported by others. I would definitely recommend and buy them again.

I purchased these ice trays for use in my motorhome refrigerator which won't support regular full-size ice trays. Overall, I like them. The cubes are a very generous size without being too large. As others have noted removing the cubes is easier if you let them sit a couple of minutes on the counter to thaw a bit. The top is very flexible, which is one of the properties of Silicon, and that makes it a bit of a challenge to put the top on. The biggest problem is filling the trays. Most ice trays have high outside rims and passages between the cube dividers so the water can flow freely between the individual cube compartments. This makes it easier to fill the trays without making a mess. This tray has neither making it very hard to fill without creating a mess...particularly when you try to put the lid on. I found using a water bottle works best for filling the trays since it allows you to fill each individual cell to the desired height. I would probably purchase a different ice tray if I had to do it over again.

I can't believe I didn't buy these sooner. I thought there was no way to use ice trays with a drawer freezer. These work great. They don't leak. The ice cubes are large. I haven't needed to wait or run them underwater to get the cubes out. They pop out easily. You press the bottom of each square and out it comes. The weirdest thing is the optical illusion when you fill them up. The black silicone makes it hard to see if they are full. Looking from above, they appear full. Look from an angle, surprise, a few are not. Not a big deal. Excellent purchase. *UPDATE 90 DAYS IN* They are still working great. Still holds the seal well.
