IT IS WORTH THE MONEY TO KEEP BIRDS AWAY
I bought this to keep birds off of my balcony and stopping them from building their nests up there and pooping. When we would sit out on our balcony it was as though the birds were attacking us. I guess they were protecting their babies from us. I did some research and found out fake owls could be used to scare off birds plus, one of my neighbors has one on her balcony. I decided to give it a try. Well, when I first put it out everything was going good, until I came home one day and my owl had fallen. From my second floor balcony on the ground. All 3 batteries fell out and the battery door broke. I used Velcro tabs to hold it down. The Velcro said it hold up to 10 pounds so I said this bird is not 10 pounds so it should hold it. (NOT) I tried glueing the Velcro strips down with super glue. (NOT) Finally I used an entire toll of gorilla tape to secure it to the bannister. So far so good. I will see if it holds once the sun comes out and heats the tape up. I can screw anything in because I live in an apartment. Other than me trying to find ways to secure it to my bannister, it is working well at keeping birds off of my balcony.

NON-FUNCTIONAL
It only worked for 1 day, it doesn't turn on or make any sound.

Meh...
It's hard to verify if it truly works to keep birds away from where I have it positioned. I'm not saying it doesn't, but I haven't owned it long enough to observe less birds. I've had it installed for a bit more than a week outside.Other thoughts:it worked just fine out of the box, but the solar panel on top was completed dislodged and hanging by it's wires when it arrived. Instead of gluing it back on, I chose to use caulk on the outside edge of the solar panel, thus holding it in place, keeping water out, and also making it easier to remove in the future should I need access to the wires for whatever reason.I don't like the placement of the switch on the underside because if you have the owl screwed into something below, which you probably will, then you have to unscrew it to get at the switch.I do like the option of the screws holding it in place, but I wish that it had another option of some sort (such as the dowel through the middle hole that some have). Moving the owl from place to place would be a whole lot more convenient if it was held in place by just a dowel.

Scary Owl Safe Critter Repellant*Loud and scary! But>>>
We live on the corner lot with lots of bushes and trees behind us, while the rest of the neighborhood is more city like with small yards and no bushes. We also have a retaining wall made of large boulders, a perfect place for critters to hide. We've seen rabbits, one rat, a weasel, squirrels, moles, voles....you get it.I can't call gramps over to kill critters because he is up in the great hunting ground in the sky. So I want to repel things. This thing works! It's loud, solar powered (even in dark old Seattle), and the motion detection is great! It's very lightweight, almost too light. You might have to put something against it to keep it up. I use some rocks.Requires no technology set up and has an on off button and battery backup. I LOVE it. Fun motion activated thing for Halloween too!Just to add onto this. It doesn't ALWAYS work, not all the time. It's also very light and will tip over so plan on some screwing in of these screws or weighting it down. I took that plastic wrap that you use for packaging, the kind on a roll and wrapped it around the owl and a rock. It looks really bad, really tacky, but he stays up.

Not worth the money
I have a pool and all the birds want a drink of water but the Grackles are a real pain they drop food bread bugs into the pool ! The owl worked for a couple of days and after that they just ignored it ! So if you are trying to scare birds away don’t waste your money .

Not the best option
The owl arrived and I set it around the back deck to keep the birds from nesting. It worked good the first week then it stopped making the sound.
