Funny movie
Would rate it more like 4.5 stars, but it's just one of those funny and somewhat thought provoking movies I find entertaining to watch. There is depth to this movie without dragging it down. I have my doubts a movie like this would be made today simply because for this sort of theme modern writers would prefer to go darker and gloomy.I realize this sort of movie is not for everyone and no doubt even in its heyday people likely thought it was silly. But as a film to entertain its overall production scores in my book.

Check it out!
This review is about the 2016 DVD release from Kino Lorber specifically. While it's a no-frills release only having a theatrical trailer and subtitle options, the quality of the transfer is absolutely stunning. They put considerable effort into cleaning up the source material. Colors are vivid, black levels and brightness are good, and the picture is sharp and crisp. If you're a fan of the film this is the best looking version of it to date. The Manhattan Project falls into the same category as movies such as WarGames and Real Genius so if you enjoyed those movies you'll like this one too. While it doesn't distinguish itself in any particular way, it's a solid entry into that genre and the performances by Lithgow, Collet, and Nixon are quite good.

R/C truck gets in and out
Cool movie, Kids do a good job in it.It's why I watched it, because of there version of the story. When it gets to the night they start, it really draws you in, until the end.Thriller meter 3/3High energy meter 3/3Suspense meter 3/3Story meter 3/3Only in a movie. How does a simple home and family spawn such a child. Capable of knowledge that doesn't exist in real life. The era it takes place, showed signs of Departments ability to track activity, With video surveillance today, really shuts this behavior down, unless they live on a farm in the middle of no where.

A decent Cold War film
Most people today may scoff at the idea of a high school kid developing a nuclear weapon for a science fair, all to make a point about the evils of said weapon. However, this movie does a good job of capturing the zeitgeist of the mid-80s. This is also one of the first movies I remember seeing John Lithgow in and he does a respectable job in this film. This movie may not appeal to younger viewers, but for children of the 80s and older, this will be a good reminder of the paranoia and concern during the Cold War. War Games with Matthew Broderick is also another film in this genre that I would recommend for a double-feature.

This movie still holds up after 20 years
I have fond memories of watching this movie in the mid-80s. I liked it then, and I still like it now. If you can get past the cheesy plot, it is a very enjoyable adventure, with a few valid messages about the dangers of secrecy and nuclear technology. The quality of the video and audio is excellent, but I was disappointed that there were no extras included on this DVD. Regardless, this movie was out of print for quite some time, so it's nice to see it released on DVD. Watch it for the characters and their interaction, but don't expect the plot to be terribly plausible.

Manhattan project
DVD received quickly and was in good condition. However, it wasn't the film I was expecting (though that is my fault, not the seller's. I was thinking of another film - which I later found out to be called The Philidelphia Expeiment). Was Ok though, but a bit far-fetched.
