Dying for a Dude (Laurel McKay Mysteries Book 4)

Way Out Western Antics!
This fourth book in the Laurel McKay Mysteries was a lot of fun! Skeletons in the closet, buried treasure, murder, and Laurel right in the middle of everything, as usual!!

Lol!!
This really makes you laugh! Laurel, Tom and Hank! What a trio! In any divorce, the spouses will always be connected if there are children from the marriage! But I'm not sure I'd go to the lengths Laurel did! Can t wait for book five to see how Laurels Dude is going to be around her! Lol!! Great book!

Awesome mystery
This is the second book in this series that I've read and I will read more. This book is very well written. Excellent mystery! I couldn't solve the murder myself. I love that! The characters are realistic and I can envision them as I read! If you like a good mystery, you'll truly enjoy this series!

Gold Country local color in an entertaining cozy mystery
Cindy is at her best in this latest in the series. First of all, it is an entertaining story (which is the whole point). The story showcases a lot of local places and lore, plus fun characters. You do not need to have read the preceding books in the series to enjoy this one, as essential background is worked into the narrative. Several things contribute to a readable story, and Cindy does all of them well -- believable dialogue, effective use of scene and setting, a sense that yes, this *could* happen, likeable protagonist and supporting characters, use of historical background (which, if not strictly factual -- that I do not know -- certainly is believable). Local folks or readers visiting the area might be motivated to go to Placerville for themselves to look around, see some of the places mentioned, and get the flavor of the place. Readers who cannot get there will at least feel that they are reading a story set in a real (quirky, but real) place, because they are. I read the book with appreciation for the effective use of the mechanics (cannot help myself there) and while enjoying the story for itself. Nice work.

Another great book in this fun, entertaining series.
Cindy Sample is one of those writers who improves with every book. Not that you shouldn't read her earlier work, but this one just roped me in from the start. I like that Laurel, the protagonist, is about as complex a character as you'll find in a cozy mystery. Her emotions and motivations seem genuine and not just there for the convenience of the plot. I love her mom and her grandmother and how different those two women are. And I appreciate that Laurel's teenage daughter is just a nice kid. There really ARE some nice teenagers out there and finally we've got one in a book. This is just a fun read in a fun series, this time with a western theme as the town of Placerville celebrates Wagon Train days. Yee-haw!

Can't go wrong with this book!
Very entertaining read. This is the 4th in the series and just as good as the first 3. Cindy writes charming characters that you want to be friends with and live in the same town they do. Mystery is always smart and creative. A lot of hurmor, historical info and a little romance thrown into the mix. You'll also enjoy the 4 generations of women and how they relate to one another. Also a little self discovery which I always enjoy as I can usually relate. This is a must read as well as the first three books in this series. A good cozy afternoon read with a cup of your favorite coffee or tea. I think you will enjoy these books like I do.

Another excellent book. I am confused as to why Gran suddenly shows up in book 4 though. She is quite the character
