If you’re interested in tuning your studio acoustically, buy this book.
This book saved me a lot of money. Instead of purchasing a plethora of bass traps, wall diffusers, etc. for my studio, I learned how to prepare my rooms with the instructions in this book. It’s concise and the author gets to the point from the start. It’s an easy read. Thanks to this book, I have a great sounding studio for much less than it would cost if I used commercial treatment components.

improve the sound of your rooms for cheap
I was very surprised that this book went right into the construction of the simplest panels using materials that I actually scrounged from my house. I have 2 rooms that have old surround sound systems that still work, but even on low volume the sound carries everywhere. The tools needed to make the panels are basically a saw, drill, and screwdriver. If you're into DIY then you probably have much better than that.So about the book - right off the bat it goes into construction methods. You get a good, better and best approach throughout. The science and theory starts getting mixed in a bit as you read past the construction methods. My only criticism is that the measurements are all metric which makes it difficult to visualize what lumber is being used. I suggest having a notepad with the conversions from millimeters to fractional inches. Roughly for the first frames you'll be working with 1x2 and 1x4 lumber that you'll use to make the frames. The technical details about how and why the methods work are very easy to understand. I immediately tried a simple fabric curtain with the many folds in one room and it made a tremendous difference. This book is more like the old school DIY books that would come as a subscription once a month for a few years. The next project I plan to try after making ceiling panels is the corner pieces that deal with the low frequencies. You can't beat this book for the money. The techniques are so easy and cheap to do that anyone can do them. You will need to go on a scavenger hunt to find the various types of mostly insulation products - but any hardware store or lumber yard will have what you need. I personally plan to bring back some orange, yellow and rust colored burlap panels into my house.I wanted to know what to do and how to do it and no search engine provided a decent answer. This book tells you what to do and how to do it right away and then gets more technical later. Well worth it.

Not useful for one who wants to get understand.
If you simply want to "make", follow those steps in this book then. But if you wish to know, to design, to create, this book is useless.

...vibes...
As a self taught musician, producer, & live sound studio tech - this was a fun read, as well as an excellent way to learn how to better work with the sound available in any given space I may work. For Americans buyers bare in mind; it's written in metric measure ( which...makes things a lot easier, honestly 🤫.) - that's really the only slightly tedious part of this small book; as a maker...you can do as you please using the literature as reference. Fun....also practical not only for musicians but all who, like myself, have some issues with sound requires intensive focus & presence.🤯

Great for beginners
Very good book for beginners. Just know you can find this info online for free. Nonetheless i commend the author for his excellent presentation of the plans and how to make the panels.

Very simplistic
I was looking for ways to treat a large bar/restaurant venue. This book was useless for me. Nothing I didn't know, and nothing very useful at that.I'd pass on this one.

Book looks useful but cover is dented and has a greasy stain
Can I get a partial refund on this book? It has a bent cover and grease stains on it. It is supposed to be new.
