ORIENT Kamasu/Mako III Men's Automatic Manual Winding Sports Steel or Silicone Divers' Watch with Screw Crown and Sapphire Crystal

As a fan of Seiko watches, I've been looking to expand my collection and came across Orient and their catalogue of great looking pieces. At half the price of the RRP who could resist? I wasn't looking for over flashy design so decided on a black dial. The specs for this model speak for themselves. 200m water resistance, Sapphire crystal and "in-house" automatic movement with great looks and build quality. It is comfortable on the wrist once adjusted.. the clasp has 4 micro adjusents. Some reviews say that they think the bracelet is of lesser quality but I think it's fine.. certainly better than on my Seiko 5. This watch really is great value for under or around £200. I am so pleased I decided to buy it.

Beautiful watch. Bought for my 19 year old son as his first quality watch. He adores it. Accurate time keeping. Watch looks and feels much more expensive than it was. Bracelet is smooth and strong. Clasp is easy to use, Face is sooooo pretty and the watch stays comfy after wearing it all day. Vetmry versatile too as goes with most outfits he wesrs and different occasions. A great introduction to quality watches for my son. He will keep this watch and build his collection from it.

If you are in the marked for at a budget friendly automatic diver watch, this is one of the very best there is. If not the best (of course subjective opinion). This watch is stunning to look at, easy to read and precise. In-house movement. Manual wind and second-hand hacking. Sapphire crystal is NOT the norm in this price range so the fact that this watch also has that is amazing. Some points to note: 1. The bezel clicks are not as tight as on more expensive watches. Although it has 120 ticks. 2. The metal band is rattles alot and does not have solid end-links. Again, not expecting this at this price so I can't call it a con really. Swap out the band to something else and you are good to go. I must once again stress that this watch blows my mind when it comes to bang for you buck! Look no further. The king of budget automatic diver, the Seiko SKX, has in my opinion just been knocked of the throne. Go check out some videos on Youtube. The green/blue/teal color on the dial is beautiful! I have wanted to upgrade my watch to a proper automatic watch for a while and found this to be a decent price point. It is stylish and wears well. Comping from only fashion watches this is a great start to having an automatic movement watch without going for one of the big brands. I wear this as my workday watch as an IT tech and had picked up a few scratches here and there on the bracelet but that is to be expected. The face of the watch has held up well and has had no marking to it at all. Wear it daily or it will run out of wind after about 2 days sat on the side but this is the expectation of an automatic. All in all, I can't fault it one bit for what I use it for.

EDIT: I absolutely recommend a leather strap on this particular watch, any complaints i had about this watch with the stock bracelet, completely disappeared after trying a decent leather strap on it. Love the dial colour, goes from almost black in low light conditions to green and even blueish in the sun. Very accurate, maybe I was lucky, it gained 35s in two weeks, that brings it down to an average of 2.5/s fast per day. The watch wears small thanks to it's sleek case, it is on the bigger size on my 6 inch wrist but it fits well. I accidentally changed the date on the watch between 8PM and 4AM once, the movement was not affected or damaged and continues to operate fine. The brushed finishing on the case does not match the one on the bracelet, the bracelet has hollow end links and a pressed clasp, the hollow end links are quite thick so I wouldn't worry about their durability, they do however squeak for the first 3 days of wear, after the squeaking goes away just the mild rattling remains which I don't dislike. My biggest gripe would be the clasp, it is very rattly and prone to stretching, I replaced mine with a milled clasp I found on ebay for £6. The bracelet pulls hairs sometimes but it is comfortable, I wear mine slightly loose. Overall happy with the watch, I do not expect £1000 watch quality in a £200 watch. You may be able to get better value for the money with some microbrands, specifically chinese ones but it is up to you to decide if that is watch you seek.

This watch is just amazing if an automatic is what you are looking for. It looks gorgeous and you can really feel the quality in this product. The dial colour is very difficult to get on camera, or looks much more impressive in reality. The bezel is a tiny bit unaligned with the chapter ring but that doesn't bother me that much. I did have to ask a replacement as the first unit had a small almost really unnoticeable scratch in the dial. I don't like the bracelet, but then I prefer rubber straps. It is quite accurate and precise. In 12 day test it ran faster 4 seconds a day, quite decent for an automatic. The other detail I didn't quite like it's the crown, it felt a bit too small for this watch. But even then, amazing lumen, gorgeous look, quality movement and an almost unscratchable sapphire glass. Quite a bang for the buck. No regrets. This is something that can make quite a long last meaningful gift for someone special, easily. Just a wonderful timepiece, I just can't stop checking the time. :)

Overall, after a couple of weeks, I can report I am extremely satisfied with this watch, my first automatic. It has many features not typically found at this price point on similar Seikos, for example, sapphire crystal, screw-down crown, hacking and hand winding, the lume is great, and so offers industry-leading value for money. This stands as easily one of the best sub-300 USD / 200 GBP watches out there. I was debating between this great red Kamasu and the gun metal grey so-called "Dress-KX" from Seiko. Design wise, I would prefer a less busy face with a simpler logo and less text, but that's my personal preference. The crown is small. It can be a bit of a fiddle to unscrew/screw back in given its small size, and I would have prefered something more substantial (Seiko 5s typically seem to have quite fat crowns). Also the bezel is polished with indentations only on the top angle, making it fairly slippery. Great once you have set it, but a bit awkward if you like to twist your bezel. I bought via Amazon US and got English and Spanish on the day wheel, though I am told from the European marketplace you will get a seconday-language as French.

The Orient Kamasu is a top quality watch with top quality features (sapphire crystal, hand backing, etc) at a affordable price; thus being the perfect watch for someone looking to dive into the expensive hobby of watch collection. The design is also very interesting and isn't just a straight homage of a submariner; the colours are especially beautiful when out in the sun but are otherwise tame. The only gripe I have is with the bracelet which I do find lacking and noisy but I plan on replacing it with a jubilee bracelet once I properly wear it down.

Great looking watch with plenty of lume. The red on this watch dial is another level, absolutely stunning. The watch has great accuracy too, variation of 3 seconds in a 24 hour period. Your mileage may differ. Wears smaller than a 42mm.

Volvería a comprar este Orient Kamasu sin dudarlo,el precio está bien por lo que ofrece,cristal zafiro,200m,un movimiento fiable ,fecha,día y que es Orient marca con tradición relojera y buen hacer. Personalmente para que fuera aun más de mi agrado yo le pondría una corona más grande,un bisel de cerámica y lo haría en 44mm de caja mínimo.La correa es básica aunque para mi no ha sido un problema pues ya tenía en mente cambiarla por una nato...

Exceptional value for your money! I absolutely love this watch. Mine is extremely accurate. I have the blue, red, and green models. By far my most worn watches.
