*** LONG TERM USE UPDATE (4/13/2019): So I've had a chance to test this heater out long term, and I will say that it's stood up quite well! I originally purchased it back in 2011 and 8 years later it's still going just as strong as the day I received it. The heating element doesn't seem to degrade over time, which was what I was most curious about with Mica Panels since they were quite new when I purchased it. I can happily say that there is no degradation in heat output like my other aging heaters. I actually had purchased an oil radiator heater by DeLonghi about 4 years ago and it's already degraded at least 50% in performance for whatever reason. Furthermore, I've not had any issues from the heater in functionality and all of the knobs still turn perfectly. No broken parts, even on the parts that have been handled the most. All in all, 9 years after purchasing this unit I can still say that I give it 5 stars and I still highly recommend it to anyone looking to heat a room safely and efficiently! ----- Initial Review (from back in 2011, build quality could have changed since then) ----- Intro... Upon researching various types of heaters for the past week, I came to the conclusion that this heater would be a good pick for a bedroom. I ended up purchasing a Lasko heater for the living room and this DeLonghi Mica Panel Heater for the bedroom. The reason I chose this brand over other mica panels is due to my experience with their products in the past. I've owned a DeLonghi Magnifica Espresso machine, which has worked flawlessly for over 4 years along with a DeLonghi Radiator Heater which has worked just as great. If you dont know much about DeLonghi, they are a European-based company that makes quality appliances, specifically utilizing German-engineering. Overall Thoughts... Upon testing out this new technology heater, I noticed that it had all of the great features that a radiator heater had. To add to the conventional radiator heater, it also features instant-on heat while maintaining a low-profile size. Due to the thin profile, this heater can be wall-mounted like a picture frame. However, I'd recommend keeping the heater as low as possible since heat tends to rise, pushing the cold air down. Another great feature about this heater is the quietness during use. Because there are no fans or moving parts, there are no constant noises. A conventional radiator heater makes a considerable amount of noise from the oil dripping inside. So how is the heat output from this new Mica Thermic technology? To put it short, it provides an ample amount of heat similar to an oil radiator heater, but has the advantage of instant heat. This gives you instant warmth when you stand in front of the heater immediately after you turn it on. This is something that you cannot obtain with a conventional radiator heater. Final Thoughts... Overall, I'm very surprised at this new technology for heating. It provides all of the great radiation type heat which maintains the temperature of the room quite well, without having to wait. Also, the low profile gives many options on where to put the heater. Lastly, the device is VERY safe. The cage around the heater provides 100% security from being burned, and the front panel can be touched comfortably without ever being burned. However, upon checking the temperature of heat output with an IR thermometer, it provided 300-400 degrees F of heat. Its quite surprising to see those types of numbers, as you can touch the front panel stays considerably cooler than the heat output. The heater also has an auto-off feature if it tips over. A great heater for an enclosed room, however, be sure that the room is around 150 sq. feet or less. Any larger, and this heater will not provide an ample amount of heat. For larger spaces, take a look at the Lasco Space Heater.

UPDATE: As my 5 Star Review reported, below, I was going to get more of these, and I did place an order for two more, for my office space and for another office area and they arrived a few days ago. WORK GREAT!!!! This truly is a new kind of heater in how it pours out consistent warmth, and gives an overall even feeling of heat better than any heater I've used (and I've used a lot over the years). I think what I like most is that it doesn't dry the air as much or ever make things stiflingly hot, like can happen with forced air space heaters. My Vornado, for example, is a proper heater, but I can wake up sometimes and it's just gotten way too hot in the room, even with the thermostat it has, but this one, WOW, once things get warm, adjust it to stay that way, and even by morning the place is just incredibly pleasant, no more chill but no stuffy overheating issues either. LOVE THIS HEATER!!! Oh, and as others have noted, pets love it too -- I have a stray cat at work that has adopted the place, and she often hangs out when I'm working late. She's skittish (not with me anymore -- will climb up on my chest to nap, never mind that I have work to do, haha) so new things are always scary, and she was really leery of this when I unboxed it and set it up, looking at it like it was not to be trusted, but, once I had it set up, she first slept a good ten feet away from it, where she could keep an eye on it, haha, but an hour later I found her sprawled out upside down next to it, happy as can be! ORIGINAL FIVE STAR REVIEW: So, my apartment has a useless little gas heater I don't use, but, with winter's chill now settling in, I am always on the lookout for something better than the space heaters I use now. The ones I have are pretty great -- the best one is a Vornado, and the other is an Optimus, and both are tops compared to any space heaters I've ever owned in the past -- but with a serious cold snap they have been pretty challenged to turn icy air into much of a warm breeze. Honestly, it's a little daunting, trying to heat your place with something other than a true forced air furnace of some sort, because almost no heater, whether ceramic, oil radiated, glorified hair dryer, whatever, seems to really get consistent reviews as a "good" solution for patched together heating strategies. For all of our great progress in America, it's amazing how many of us don't have warm homes, or just sound solutions for the chilly places in which we live. Even this one seems to have mixed reviews, but I was just honestly intrigued with the "new idea" concept of it, this flat panel that is light and portable and can even be hung on a wall, wow! It seemed worth a try, especially with the excellent return policies Amazon provides. My first impression? Bigger than I thought, and lighter than I imagined. You look at it and think...hmmm, really? This is a heater?? It more resembles a radiator pulled out of a truck or something, or, more accurately looks like a flat screen tv of some kind, and is, in fact, about the size of a 32" LCD television, more or less. It looks very modern, although, as I say, it is big (I assumed it to be much smaller, more like the usual floor space heater in size) and do be aware that, because it is light, it does roll around if you bump into it, at least on hardwood flooring. It does have a tip over safety switch, so that's good. It's totally stable, and I don't mean it tips over easily, but it rolls really well on a smooth flat surface, is all I'm saying. Assembly was super simple -- pre-installed screws in the bottom accommodate the feet, one at each end, and the feet have great little rollers. Long cord too, which is a bonus. Operation is by simple dials at the side -- Off, and then Minimum and Maximum on the top dial. The lower dial is temp control, from 1 though 6, plus a "frost" mode (will explain). It is thermostat controlled as well as able to be just turned on or off, so, crank it up to 6, let the room get to the temperature you want, then dial back the lower dial until you hear a click, and the heater will cycle on and off to maintain the temperature you've set. This is kind of a manual thermostat, in that you do not set a temperature setting, of like 65 degrees or something -- you let the room get to where you like it, then rotate back the dial to that point (which is when you hear the click) and basically you and the heater agree now on how warm you like the room. I actually prefer this because many space heater temp thermostats are not accurate, in my experience, so, setting it at 73 or whatever is not really reliable in terms of the room staying at that temperature. With this one, it goes by feel, so however you like the room on that day, which you then "set" on the lower dial, is how much heat it will try to maintain. The "frost" setting is very cool. Turn it to Max and set it on Frost (the little frost symbol on the dial) and the heater will never let the room drop below 41 degrees, it claims, or, in other words, won't let things get cold to the point of freezing. This setting is designed to accomplish this with minimal power usage, and I can see where this would come in useful for specific situations. The heat itself is fantastic. I can see why there are so many pics of pets snuggled to this -- it is a very pleasant radiation of heat that is, for lack of a better word, cozy. What you feel is a bubble of heat around and above (but not behind -- the back does not radiate heat) the heater, and, at first, it can seem like it is only warming a localized area, but leave it on, and warmth accumulates in the overall greater area. Because heating is concentrated most, nearest the unit, and takes a while to start heating up the room on a larger scale, I will say that I can agree with those on here who have had complaints, since this definitely seems more suited to a smaller, confined space than an open environment. Without any forced air to spread the emanated heat, this is much like a non-ducted fireplace, with the "most" heat felt, obviously, being in the area nearest the fire and it does take a few hours before the rest of the area starts to benefit from all of the wonderful heat pouring out. So, this is not something, in my opinion, that would do well if one expected to heat much of any space beyond the range of the unit itself... What is that range? Well, basically, the smaller the enclosed area, and the more enclosed it is, the better. A 250 square foot area, open on many sides, is not going to heat up as well as a 250 square foot room with just one entry, for example. I'm not sure at what point this heater is overwhelmed by the space it's trying to heat, but if you have any kind of larger, open, drafty real estate you're trying to warm up, just consider that (like any space heater, of course) effectiveness dims in proportion to the open square footage of your space. That being said, this performs "better" than the usual space heaters, for an area that is small and enclosed --the heat is more evenly distributed as time goes on and the "toasty warmth" zone is much larger than any fan heater. Like my Vornado, a fan heater is really only nicely warm in front of the very narrow spot where the heat is blowing and the further you are away from it, the more it's just a breeze you are feeling -- a not so warm breeze. That can be improved somewhat with oscillating heaters (like my Optimus) that help push heat around somewhat, but then the trade off is that you only get warmed directly when the heated air washes your way on its way past you -- and then you turn the oscillation off, in frustration, tired of waiting for your turn for heat as it sweeps left and right. With this version, this big space of radiation is certainly an improvement -- and I can see the wisdom of pets who want to steal a spot right in front -- because you have a "heat zone" that you can certainly feel, directly, extending out past the already larger dimensions of the heater itself (compared to most space heaters). That zone is about three feet wide, side to side, about two and half feet deep (meaning, 2.5 ft in front of the heater itself) and a good five feet high (in other words, three feet above the heater itself). As I said earlier, it's like a big heat bubble and, while you can't feel direct heat the further you get away from that bubble, the general room temperature starts to go up as time goes by. In that respect, it borrows some of what those oil-filled radiator heaters provide, as a heat source that takes more time to make heat in a bigger area, but, as the hours go by, is pretty effective at that task. With this one, after about five hours I find myself turning it down, when I've left it fixed at its highest setting, because the room is actually getting too warm. I like this heater enough that I am getting two more, for two offices at work that aren't well heated by the old central air system down there (it's an old building with poor duct work). Because they are somewhat small and very enclosed, I think this style of heater will prove more effective than the current "fan" style space heaters being used now, which are somewhat challenged to create a workable warmth. Like any heating unit, don't expect miracles from this. It's not a ducted system for whole home heating. My living room, for example, gets very nice with this heater, but step into the kitchen or dining area and that heat doesn't go around corners. On very cold days, I still rely on more than this unit, also turning on the oven, boiling a large pot of water without a lid (humidity is heat's best friend!) and I actually switch between this heater and my Vornado, kind of letting this one create the pleasant heat, then using the Vornado to distribute that heat around, then back to this one (I can't have them both on at once, since this is an older apartment and the fuses will blow if I have any two big draw appliances on the same circuit). So, it's a great tool to have in the war against the cold. Plus, it has the huge benefit of being silent in operation, so no more annoying fan noise if binge watching on the weekend or whatever, haha. Regarding complaints about the smell, yes, when first used, like, the very first time, it emanated an obvious odor, which I can assume is the burning off of whatever is on there from the factory. It was not stifling or overwhelming, and I didn't even need to open a window. It dissipated within hours and, for every use after, there has been no smell at all. So, that odor issue is a one time, first use thing only. Overall, I really think they are onto something with this fresh design, and it seems to combine a lot of the best aspects of good space heaters, and eliminates known drawbacks. Radiation heat is more even, it is a well-dispersed heat, it is highly portable, noiseless and is probably one of the most pleasant feeling warmths of any space heater in the heat it provides. I'm very pleased with this purchase, and confidently recommend it, if it suits the need you have. I hope this has helped -- thanks for reading!

Update: We are going on our 5th winter with this heater and it's still working great! Best money ever spent on a heater! Before buying this heater I went and did a LOT of looking for heaters.. I spent about a month reading reviews and looking at different products. In the end I settled on this one. There were a lot of reasons why I picked this over 100's of others but here are the big ones: 1. Cost - This price is not overly crazy high. So many heaters seemed to be well over the 100$ range and this one was under that when we got it. 2. I wanted a NO fan heater. Heaters with fans can be SO drying of the air in the room! With 3 of the 4 members of my household having Asthma we needed the air to not be too dry. 3. The heating settings! With the 600 wat and 1200 wat it seemed like a very cost effective way to heat the living room. Now I want to make it clear that I was blown away with just how well this heater worked for us so far. We live in a 2 bedroom small apartment (800sf). We have old electric base board heating and each unit using about 1200wats an hour. There are 3 in the living room alone.. The cost to run the heating adds up FAST. From Nov-March we tend to have power bills that are from 200$-250$ each month from the extra heating bills. We received this heater on Nov 25 and have been using it as needed till now Feb 15th. Our heating bills have been: $58.02 for Nov (Note we did not need to use the heater but for a few hours at night for a few days that month) $113.18 Dec (We used the heater every day for a few hours - 4-6 a day) $126.03 Jan (We used the heater for the better part of the day daily. - 10-16 hours a day) I think the numbers speak for themselves! Keep in mind that we only need to use the heater in our home when it drops below 50F outside. We have a very easy to heat/cool apartment. But we do have a rather large window in our living room and sliding glass doors by the dinning room. I checked the temps daily to see how well it was heating the apartment. In the main room (living room) with the heater in it it stayed at around 63-66 depending on how cold it was outside. The temps this winter were VERY cold in Jan and we had a few weeks of 25-30F being our daily highs. Even then the heater kept the living room, dinning room and kitchen in the mid 60's. I should also add that we did use two smaller heaters both 600 wats in our bedrooms on the bitterly cold nights for a little extra heat. But when it was 40F+ We didn't really need them even to stay warm at night. Now we do also use common sense like wear a warm sweater and use thick heavy down blankets in the winter. Over all however we were more then happy with how the heater has done this far. I can't yet say if it will last to next year but I will update this review then if it does. Also wanted to note that the backside/sides of the heater stays relatively cool to the touch. I can see how mounting it on a wall would work really well. We however use it on the wheel base it came with. It seems fairly sturdy but we have not dropped it or knocked it over so no clue how well it could take a beating. I have 2 small boys age 2-4 and both have done just fine with it. I would think if you have pets or small kids one would want to keep a close eye on it. The heater panel does get VERY hot and would burn anything touching it. We keep it in front of our fireplace that is centered in the room. Also should be noted that even if it only lasts a year I would still buy a new one without batting an eye next year if the price was the same!

Ok. This micathermic heater has pros and cons. Pros: if you get a good one, it will do a great job of hearing up your medium to large size room. I use it in an office and within 2 hours.... It's too hot in there and I need to turn it off or down. Another pro is it is quieter than a ceramic heater. It is also more energy efficient as it heats up a room faster than ceramic or heaters. It is also very light, and surprisingly the frame does not get as hot as you would imagine... No scolding with short touches. Cons: it has a buzzing electric noise. The first one I ordered had a buzz that although still more quiet than a fan... I could hear it and it bothered me while I worked. I asked for an exchange from Amazon. The second one also has a buzzing noise but really faint. You need to be a couple of feet from the second one to slightly hear it. So much better. Another negative is the smell when you use It for the first few times. There must be oils or production chemicals that burn off the first few used. The first one I ordered made me nauseous as I used it in my office new out of box. The second one I had it heat in my garage for 6 hours to burn off the chemicals... The smell will go away but it will take hours and hours... Another con is it has no remote, no digital display, no real temperature setting. It's pretty much manual with manual max, manual half/min, or a more where it can try to click on and off at variables.... But you have to remember the trick to get it in that mode as it's not user friendly. (Turn the second nob until it just makes a click sound then immediately stop and then it will cycle on and off to keep the room at the desired temp.) I purchased a small digital thermometer to place on my desk so I can see when the room is getting too toasty or to a temp I like... I wish there was some modern digital features built into this device... Especially for over 100 dollars..... Even with these cons, and the trouble of having to exchange and return one... I would still recommend this space heater. It honestly does an really efficient job at heating a room. More efficiently than any other space heater technology I have tried before.

Like that I can put it on the wall and or close to the wall on casters, I had a oil filled radiatior that was hot in all directions and that was not going to work for me in my motor home and in my bedroom back home. It looks safe to me to mount on the wall, This space heater comes with a 7 ft. cord. the cord and plug only feels slightly warmer than my hand when running on high heat for a couple of hours. If you are running this on high (. 1500 watts for an extended time, you want to make sure your outlets are in good shape and not loose when you plug them in. Some of the photos here on other reviews with burned up wall sockets are most likely due to poorly maintained outlets with poor connections or loose wires behind the plugin. If your running 1500 watts constanly with a bad connection the outlet could get hot. Air flows mostly as convection from the bottom through the top, It is hot near the top on the top and front and warm on the top on the back. Hot on the top near the top on the front, but not so hot that you would get burned by touching it. The back has a 1 inch spacer if you mount to the wall so your wall should stay fairly cool with convection. Just do not block the air flow of this or any other heater. I did do a watt check with my kilowatt meter. There are 2 settings Low, 750 watts setting which I recorded 683 watts at 116 Volts at 5.87 amps, and on high 1500 watt setting I recorded 1307 watts at 113.8 volts, 11.5 amps. I think if my voltage was near 120 volts I would have got close to 1400 watts out. So will say this is a 700 watt heater on low and a 1400 watt heater on high, about what I expected. The unit does make a slight buzzing sound and is a little louder at the high heat setting. If you have this unit across the room in your bedroom it would be hard to hear at night. Next to the side of your bed at night may be heard when all is quiet in the house. Otherwise your not going to hear it in your daily life in living areas. I plan on using 3 of these for off peak heat times. One in each of our 2 bedrooms on the low heat ( 700 watt setting) and one in the main living area, running on 700 watts and or 1400 watts when the cold weater in Minnestoa kicks in. Update, I have now bought 5 of these bad boys, They are all very consistent in quality, packaging, power output, etc! I use these for Time of Day heat, ( our elecrice rates are only $.05 from 9 pm to 9 am, plus we turn the main gas furnace down 5 degrees and use these heaters to warm the room extra in the room we are in, I have one in each of our 2 bedrooms, 2 in our open grear room / dining room, and one in our family room. These work great for me.

2-28-2017 UPDATE: I've been using this heater about a year now. In the last month, this heater has over-heated twice and given me a loud buzzer sound. During the coldest months of December and January, it was necessary to run at 1500 watts to heat my entire condo (except one bedroom), and d my electric bill was as high as $120. I moved this heater to a bedroom and let it run at 750 watts, mostly at the "1" or "2" setting. This heater easily warms my smaller bedroom with 750 watt setting at the "1" setting. In the larger bedroom, it takes only a bit longer to warm the bedroom, then I need to turn it off as it is already on the lowest setting. Bottom line: The ideal space for this heater is a medium-large to large room, about 300 to 400 square feet max. Beyond that the heater can overheat and sound the annoying buzzer. It easily overwhelms small bedrooms. I also have a 1200 watt oil radiator heater with 3-heat setting (500, 700, 1200 watts). That heater easily manages my smaller bedroom on the lower setting. Avoid heaters with two heat setting controls; buy heaters with three heat setting controls + the variable temperature. This Delonghi Mica Panel heater is deficient because it overheats on the 1500 watt setting (twice now) but in a bedroom it overwhelms the smaller space even on the 750 watt setting. The controls on this heater have always been difficult to see and use. This Delonghi Mica Panel heater I would not buy again. ORIGINAL REVIEW: My two-bedroom condo has a small central hallway between the two bedrooms and the living room. I placed the heater in the hallway with the bedroom doors open, and it heats my entire condo. I use the 750 watt setting when outside temperatures stay above 55 degrees or so. In the early morning I boost the heat to the 1500 watt setting and the heat disseminates throughout the condo.and warms the entire place with a pleasant heat. When I first took it out of the box and turned it on, I got a foul manufacturing smell that lasted maybe 40 minutes then dissipated. I would have rated this thing 5 stars but for the temp controls. The person or team who designed two settings knobs for wattage and temperature assumed everyone has perfect vision. The controls have white characters on grey knobs set low and on the side. The control knobs are hard to see even with my glasses but I don't sleep with my glasses on. During the night, if I want to adjust the heat, I can't see a thing on the heater controls. The controls need to be plainly visible on the FRONT of the heater, and characters need to be enlarged and contrasted sharply. The wattage knob should be Roman numerals: I, II or even better, simple dot series. The temperature knob should be a swirl strip that widens corresponding with higher temp setting or use a tactile knob. Otherwise, it is a perfectly fine heater that makes no noise and disseminates heat nicely.

So far this has been a godsend. I am in a very small and very cold apartment. I was hoping this (actually I have two now) could be used in the middle of the living room I am spending most of my time in as opposed to watching the heat literally go up the windows away from me and sweat the windows all up. The current electric baseboards are under the windows. This is supposedly a normal layout but combine the drafty windows with the old built-in baseboard heater units and you don't have very efficient heating. The heat blows the curtains up and all the heat climbs the cold windows making water come down all the time. I have tried tying curtains back and removing them but the way the baseboards are shaped, the heat does not go into rooms, period. It goes up in front of the window and that is that. Addressing the smell issue others have noted: I noticed very little with either of the two I bought. I ran them in the hallway on high for a few minutes and have never had the stink again. I have not had need to use them on high again. Keeping them on the lower power has been sufficient for me so not sure if stink would return if I cranked them. If need be they can go out in the hall again for another burn off. I would not be concerned about it. The cord is just long enough for me to keep mine in the middle of the living room not far from where I sit to watch TV. The heat is more than ample on low power and 2 to 4 temp knob to keep me comfortable with the baseboard hardly ever coming on since this heater lies between the baseboard and the thermostat. After living with the first unit a few days I decided to get a second for the kitchen which does not have any heat at all. No windows/no baseboard. No heat. I have one circuit I can use for it when not using like the microwave or coffeemaker, etc. And the living room is on another circuit so there are no tripped breakers. I have read a lot of people complaining the unit gets hot enough to burn. Well, the back of it stays cold, the grate on the front can get uncomfortably warm to touch and only the very top is the hottest. Since I have not run it on highest in the apartment I cannot tell you what the top or grate gets like if you crank it. I used to heat with a woodstove in my old house, now that is hot and that burns. As for this I would say you wouldn't want your skin or something flimsy to make contact with it long. Unlike the glowing red ones I don't fear accidentally brushing it with my pants leg and bursting into flames. You wouldn't want to put this under a window where drapes/curtains could hang over hot top and you would not want to be drying your clothes on it, otherwise I feel pretty safe. I don't run it when I am not home or sleeping. There is a bunch of safety literature that comes with it and you should read it but mostly you need common sense. Mounted halfway up a wall with all clear above it might work for people with crawlers/toddlers. That could be a compromise, keeping the hottest part of it away from their reach but you would take a hit on efficiency. I wish I had a wall where I could low mount the living room one, it doesn't need to be in the middle of the room since it is a pretty small room but I don't have any lower wall space where shelving would not be above it and ruin the efficiency. I would not mount this high on the wall, most definitely the heat comes out the top the most and the top as I said will get pretty hot. I will update this review when I get the electric bill in a few weeks. It is really hard to tell, we don't get any kind of easily read bill and no published rates from this town utility, it is mostly comprised of surcharges that we really can't tell how much a kilowatt hour costs. And we did get an early cold spell so figure everything else, like my bathroom heat which I keep on steady from October to May will have been working harder too. But I will update. Beware I have an all electric apartment which has electric company that is town-run not a real utility and subject to many surcharges. I wouldn't trade these for gas/oil but if they are more efficient than current electric (old toasters under drafty old windows) it should be better. UPDATE: got the electric bill and it was not really any worse than I would expect this time of year. The period caught just the beginning of the arctic blast and sub zero temps but still this was way better than the fifty year old toasters under the drafty leaking windows would do for the same price. I think it is foolish to expect any electric heater to replace oil or gas unless you have some incredible high gas or oil rates and likewise incredibly low electric rates. But to supplement and/or partially replace very inefficient old electric baseboards, this seems worthwhile. The first one is my main heater and runs all day in the living room. The second is for the kitchen when I am going to be in there a lot or when it is this cold and I need to supplement in the bath. The baseboard in there cannot do it when it gets much lower outside than say the teens and I needed the panel today so I could take a shower. I am still happy with them and now will come the test for longevity.

I've tried several types of electric space heaters - radiant heater with resistive wire ribbon, oil-filled radiator, quartz, and now this. This is by far the best. The ribbon and quartz heaters glowed bright orange, lighting up the entire room. The Sunbeam/Holmes quartz tower heater made a rattling noise from the heating elements and also had a fan which was really loud and quite startling when half asleep. I nearly had a heart attack when it came on a couple of times when I was half asleep. It lasted less than 2 seasons due to an unbelievably primitive thermostat which stuttered and turned on/off every few seconds for as long as a few minutes before it stuck in either the on or off mode. The oil filled heater worked OK for a few years until the heat broke the perimeter weld and it began to leak oil on the floor. This heater is absolutely fantastic so far. It's not absolutely silent like an oil-filled radiator. You can hear a very quiet hum which sounds like a transformer when the thermostat turns the heater on. You only hear it at night when everything is absolutely silent in the room, and it's barely audible. The hum is louder on the high setting, but still quiet. The unit heats up fully within a minute or two and heats up a room as fast as any other type of space heater. It emits no light. The heating element appears to be a heavy paper or fabric sheet which is suspended in the middle of the housing. There's no fan. The upper knob is the off/low/high switch. The lower knob is the thermostat, which reads 1 through 6. I only use it on the low setting with the thermostat set at 2. It heats up a 250 sq. ft. room with a 10-foot ceiling like nothing when it's 40 degrees F outside. It has a recess on the back side in the middle of the upper edge which serves as a handle. It's very light and can be moved very easily by lifting. It has 4 rollers for feet which not only makes it easy to roll around, but keeps it from tipping over if it's bumped, since it will roll out of the way instead of tipping over. It has a tip-over switch which turns it off if it's tilted too much, not that it ever gets hot enough to ignite anything. The tip-over switch makes a rattling noise like something is loose inside if you shake the heater - it's not a broken part inside. Unlike an oil-filled radiator heater, it only emits heat from one side which allows you to move it out of the way and use it without fear of heating whatever is behind it. The back side is so cool that it comes with a plastic bracket which allows you to hang the heater on a wall. So far this heater is fantastic. I've used it for one season without any issues. I recently bought 2 more and to see if they will allow me to stop using propane central heat altogether. I placed two of them in the living room, plugged them both in and set them to full blast. 10 minutes later, they tripped the living room breaker, so I tried one on full blast for a couple of hours. It took 2 hours to go from 60 degrees to 62 degrees inside. It's obvious that one isn't powerful enough to heat most of the house, and going by the paltry increase in temperature, I'm now sure 2 of them wouldn't cut it either. These work great in a closed bedroom to heat up the whole room. If using on in a large space like a living room, it'll only warm people who are close enough to feel the warmth coming off of it. UPDATE 8/25/2017: I've discovered that this heater is causing me problems. During the night and especially in the morning my heart rate is elevated, my heart is pounding hard, I feel jittery and nervous and my body is vibrating. I seem to be sensitive to electromagnetic radiation or something that this unit is giving off. If you don't experience these issues, this is a great heater.

Tengo varios días usándolo y probándolo en diferentes habitaciones, en todos los casos ha resultado excelente, emite un calor uniforme que rápidamente abarca desde habitaciones pequeñas cerradas hasta áreas grandes y que no pueden estar cerradas, como el área de sala-comedor-cocina. El olor que muchos comentan solo se produjo el primer día, pero si sigues las instrucciones y lo conectas por primera vez a todo poder en un cuarto ventilado, con eso se quita para los siguientes usos. En cuanto a ruido, no siento que emita ninguno. Tal vez un muy pequeño zumbido cuando lo usas en el modo máximo, pero si lo usas en el mínimo no emite ningún ruido. Lo recomiendo mucho.

This is a fantastic heater for many reasons. It is very thin so it does not take up a lot of room. It emits heat quickly and efficiently. The heater is lightweight and easy to take room to room or up/down stairs. The best thing about it is that is is completely silent. It won't affect your sleep or interfere with hearing the TV. It heats up instantly with easy to use switches. Because it is a large panel surface the heat is coming from a larger surface area as opposed to small portable heaters which take a lot of time to heat a large room. I love the safety features, especially having an active dog running around. I would recommend this heater. It arrived very quickly, sooner than expected. I purchased this myself and was not influenced in any way to give a positive review.

I bought this after asking the question “are you still happy with this heater?” The answers were yes. I live in Edmonton and bought this to supplement heat in our finished walkout basement. I have an office down there that is open to the family room. After trying a few heaters from Canadian Tire and Homedepot that I was not happy with, I bought this one. It’s quiet and perfect for what I need. I have the wheels on it so I can move it around. You set it by heating the area to what you feel is comfortable and then turning the dial until you hear a click. Then the heater will continue to heat the area to that temperature. There is no fan and it doesn’t seem to need one. It’s only the end of October though, so ask me again in January. But so far so good, I would recommend this for supplemental heat. My area is approximately 15 x 30 feet with the office at one end and I am comfortably warm downstairs now.

This is a surprisingly lightwheight appliance, with a nice and clean design, but at the same time, the heat radiance is quite impressive. You can expect some temporary plastic scent during its first uses, but nothing disturbing. This is the best heater I ever tried.

Silent, Efficient, and Portable this heating panel is very modern appearing and produces RADIANT heat much like the sun. There were no odd smells or off-gassing when I first fired up this heater. The thermostat has great control and accuracy where each number represents about a 2-degree C increment. The pilot light is on as long as the main switch is on either high-setting 1400W or low 700W. I am in mid winter here in Canada and I have not needed the Hi setting yet. I would recommend this heater for any space around 350 sq ft. like my one bedroom apartment. Thank you!
