Creative Converting 240-Count Touch of Color Paper Lunch Napkins, White

I really like these napkins. The material is thinner than paper napkins like Vanity Fair but very strong and durable. They feel soft on the mouth but are very utilitarian. You have to work to tear them. The size is perfect for our napkin holder (the bottom shelf of a fruit basket), and I've found that a napkin I used for dinner can be reused the next morning to wipe down my non-stick egg sandwich maker and even a few coffee spills before I toss it. The only thing weird is that these napkins are wrapped individually in plastic in stacks about half an inch thick. Meaning more plastic and also we'll have to keep opening packages as we go through them. I'd prefer to get them in a bulk pack that has maybe 120 napkins in each of two wrapped packages.

I ordered these with the hope that they would tide me over until my favorite Vanity Fair napkins were back in stock. Not even a little bit close in comparison! These are not soft nor pliable. They're stiff and not very absorbent. When wet, they begin to fall apart. But the odd scent of them is what turned me off most. You don't really notice it until you bring the napkin up to wipe your mouth. The odor is almost like popcorn! Not an offensive smell, but also not what you want in your dinner napkin. My husband has worked in the paper making and converting industries his entire adult life. His opinion is that the scent was probably acquired during the paper-making process. He bought my favorite Vanity Fair napkins when he went to the store and now I have 200+ of these sitting here without a purpose for them. Any suggestions?
