What a relief!!! Good piece of equipment!
After running around with 1-2 gallon tanks and having my arm almost falling off (on a relatively averaged size lawn, 10,000 sq ft) I thought about backpack sprayer and was compelled to buy this one, thanks to other positive reviews. I used it once so far, but - BOY - does it make a difference!!!? First of all - it had adjustable straps and the back of it is profiled so it does not hurt your back. The pump is strong and couple strokes is enough to have a strong spray. In fact, spray is very strong and attached brass nozzle does distribute liquid very efficiently. In fact, I had my lawn done in 10-15 minutes and it was actually fun and pleasure! I enjoyed the speed of doing it so much that rather than spot treating, I walked the lawn systematically and sprayed the whole thing (which used the 6 gallons, by the way), but at least I know I covered all of the bad and potentially bad spots. The advantage over the concentrate hose sprayer is when you (like me) have a veggie garden or ornamental/fruit plants and bushes and you don't want to cover them by accident (which is easy using hose), you control it in this case. The advantage over hand-held 2 gallon tank sprayer is self-explanatory - you save yourself a lot of fatigue, do job faster and more efficiently and in an ergonomic fashion. This tanks sprayer does the job like a pro!!!

Sturdy; easy to use
Purchased this to apply herbicide to a quarter of an acre of cattails. Easy to fill and use. The side pump is easily accessed and effective; you won't need to pump much for the pressure you need. The lid is easy on and easy off, something I have found to be a problem on sprayers. There is a great filter for filling so you don't let debris into the tank that might shut the system down. 4 gallons is 32 lbs of liquid, a hefty weight on your back. The straps do fine and I spent most of a day filling and refilling, off and on. For the money this is great product.

1. Lousy padding of straps/back 2. Repair tip for piston collar
Update: Don't buy this sprayer!!! At least don't buy it if you have over 5 minutes of spraying to do. I finally bought the Chapin pro model 6200 of this sprayer - it has a padded harness that is incredibly more comfortable than having the hard plastic of this Stanley sprayer against your back. Spend the little extra money and give your back a break by buying either the Chapin Pro 6200 (brass wand) or the 6190 Pro (stainless steel wand). [Water weighs 8.3 pounds per gallon, so walking around with 24 pounds of liquid + the 9 pound weight of this sprayer on your back is too heavy not to get the better backpack harness in the Chapin 6200 or 6190 sprayers.] Twice I've had to replace the rubber piston collar (really the rubber cylinder head) after very extensive use. So if you have this sprayer and notice that despite pumping that no internal pressure is produced, then you may have to replace this worn rubber part. (It makes sense that it eventually wears out, as this collar sits on the end of the piston, and rubs on the side of the piston cylinder every time you pump.) Indeed, I would recommend you order part Chapin 6-8180 Piston Pump Repair Kit, available on Amazon, at the same time you order this sprayer, as it is likely you will need the part, and it is convenient to have it on hand. (You have to order the kit that also contains some gaskets, although it seems likely the it is the rubber cylinder collar that is most likely to eventually wear out. Replacement is fairly easy - see my comments for the Chapin 6-8180 Piston Pump Repair Kit.

Great item
I have 600 plantain plant in my 2 acre field in Puerto Rico. The straps this backpack brings makes fertilizing them much easier as it distributes the weight in a way that does not hurt my back and the shoulder straps are thinker then other back packs so I do not get shoulder whipped. Sprayer works like its supposed to. great item to have when you don't have much help.

After two years of use, it is leaking out the bottom of the sprayer. So, I have to replace it. but different brand.
This is the second backpack sprayer I have owned. The first one I had I used on 10 acres almost everyday. It was a different brand and only lasted about a year. I moved several years ago to town and got tired using a 3 gallon carry tank type to spray weeds with around the house. I did some research before I went to buy a new one and found that Stanley made one and all the reviews I read were very good versus the brand that I had before, so I chose the Stanley over one similar to what I had before. I have ran about 4 tanks full through it and love it. Instead of pressurizing the whole tank, it only does a cylinder at the bottom, it's very quiet to use and has instant response by pumping the handle. I love it. Makes it nice to spray for weeds now. I recommend this sprayer to anyone who has a large amount of hand spraying to do. I rate it 10 out of 10.

Stanley Backpack Sprayer
Great product. Easy to use. Saves time vs handheld pump sprayer. Less expensive than comparable units. My sprayer arrived with missing parts; contacted seller (Name Brand Liquidations) who sent out a replacement sprayer immediately. Name Brand Liquidations is customer focused. I will definitely do business with them again. Since they only had one sprayer when I originally ordered, they actually went to Amazon to send out a replacement. I "tip my hat" to Name Brand Liquidations.

Very unhappy with performance
Two weeks after purchase, trigger would not work without tapping it. Sometimes tapping worked, sometimes you have to disassemble. After constant tapping, handle broke. Tempted not to recommend this sprayer. Works fine when it's working, but few and far between.

good sprayer
I have been using this to spray fertilizer on all my plants and fruits (foliar feed) 3-4 gallons once a week for a couple of months. The pumping action is good although it loses pressure quickly so you have to keep at it, but it's not tiring. It could deliver a very strong spray at the highest pressure, more powerful than the 1 gallon handheld sprayers so it gets the job done quicker, plus need to refill every gallon now. I looked at the solo sprayers some of them do not look like rebuild is easy or even possible. This stanley made by chaplin has all parts you can order for repair and is all listed in the manual. The only mishap that caused a 4 star instead of 5 is that there was a leak by the hose one day, the hose clamp is plastic and cheap, even when tightened fully it leaked, down the back of my legs! Good thing I was only using harmless organic liquid and not pesticide.. I found a metal screw drive hose clamp in my parts bin and it has been working perfectly. I suggest anyone who buy this to replace the clamp like I do to prevent this problem.
