As the parent of a child who battles addiction I was struggling to find information specific to my journey. A friend of mine led me to the Hope for Hurting website where I began to receive the daily blog. When the Hope for Hurting Parents Support Group Manuals became available I immediately ordered one of each (facilitator & parent version). What an amazing resource! The Hope for Hurting Parents support guides provide information, scripture and guidance on parenting a prodigal from a Christian living perspective - exactly what I, and so many other parents like me need. It is my goal to start a support group using these materials in the near future.

The parent notebook and facilitator guide are Wonderful guides for leading a support group for hurting parents! Our group has been using the book since January 2018, we are so grateful for this material!!

This is a wonderful springboard to facilitating a support group for us parents of prodigals - as we were experiencing (and still are) the struggles of our teens and hearing from other hurting parents - it was natural to (borrowing from Yohe's) turn our pain into hope for others; to journey through with people also in the trenches has been an answer to prayer - refreshing and encouraging. The manual is not a fix all but full of icebreakers, wisdom and love. Every chapter is a gift and offers incredible insights. Personally I'm not aware of another program out there that addresses these needs for the believing parent. Even if I wasn't a believer the information is relevant and practical. Thank you Tom and Dena may this ministry save lives, souls and restore broken relationships.

This book is Bible and religious based. There are also homophobic and anti-gay comments and references to utilization of this book in conversion-therapy type situation. I am sorry I bought it and am returning it.

Being my first time facilitating Hope for Hurting Parents, it was a great learning experience for me . Each topic was relevant to hurting parents. I also liked how easy it was to work through each session. I am excited about the next time I will be involved with facilitating our next group. You do not have to have extensive training to facilitate. Just be there to stimulate conversation which is provided in the book. I also liked all of the scriptures that went along with each session.

We began a Hope for Hurting Parents group in our church about 3 years ago. This is an important resource for people looking for hope in the midst of their storm. The Yohes have a compelling story, so they understand where you've been, and they want to use their learnings and research to help others survive. Many people don't want to deal with the "shame" of having children who struggle with issues like addiction or mental health challenges but it is reality, and these resources find the best way to combine good practices, important topics along with scripture to lead them through the darkest hours to find light.

We facilitate a support group using this manual and we love it! The material is very well organized and easy to adapt to various situations we may be experiencing with our loved ones. The lessons are full of encouraging truth and each person in our group is growing in strength and hope for their journey. Definitely recommend using this to lead a group of hurting parents!

This material is perfect and easy to follow. Our support group meets twice monthly and each meeting we discuss a topic, each of which are very relevant to struggling parents of troubled children, whether teen or adult. Easy to follow with provocative questions to help stimulate sharing. Such truth.
