A tribute to a model of world wide collaboration
Of the many books I've read about CERN and particle physics, Pauline's book is a readable masterpiece that speaks to the incredible collaboration that has been fundamental to CERN. She tackles the particle "Zoo" with a clarity that the lay person like me can comprehend and brings fundamental research into the realm of applied science, telling us how CERN has enriched our lives. I was heartened by her treatment of minorities in the world of physics including women who have been and remain under represented. A beautiful book.

Excellent book
This is a great book except for one thing, all the graphics are in black and white but described as if they are in colour. When she tells me something is represented by the red line and something else by the purple line, the graphic is useless. I expect better from Oxford University Press.

An amazing must read!
This is an amazing book, one that anyone who is interested in the development of the cosmos must read. It particularly addresses what CERN does and how it operates. Dr Gagnon makes the difficult to understand very understandable. Each chapter is layed out with a logical progression, utilizing reinforcement and summary of ideas. Practical examples are given to make cosmic actualities more understandable. In the final chapters of the book, Dr Gagnon discusses the difficulties in science that minorities (and other groups) experience and how CERN’s intrinsic organization tries to overcome these problems.

Good book!
A lengthy, but fairly absorbing description of the Large Hadron Collider. Not much particle physics here, but enjoyable.
