Actually works!
As noted by others, you need 2 of these for them to be useful. My situation was a 6' privacy fence that rotted out at the cement base due to the footing being covered in soil. When I received the items and looked at the instructions, I was cynical that they'd work since I'd be hammering them into the concrete footing and they start off by going in at a bit of an angle, but the wedge part half way up straightens them up once you get them in deep enough. Took about an hour, but your milage will vary depending on the material you are hammering into.PRO* TIP: Use 2 sledges! Place one sledge on the unit's target area and strike it with the other. Much easier, quicker and less damaging than trying to hit the E-Z Mender directly. I recommend the smaller hand sledges, not the big boy. EDIT: It has been brought to my attention that striking one hardened surface on another is not safe. While the Mythbusters beg to differ, I think it is safe to say that you should exercise caution when swinging a sledgehammer at anything. /EDITAlso, the instructions don't mention using the larger hole towards the top, but when I had pounded them in as far as I could they were still a bit separated from the post. Drilling a hole through the post, from one hole to the other (be sure they are aligned) and tightening the E-Z Menders to the post with a 5" bolt took care of that.* I am by no means a "Pro"

Whack it hard, whack it good...whack like you know you should
Quick, easy to install (assuming you have the proper type of mallet -- I had to buy one). Has been keeping my mailbox straight for weeks now, and I don't have to worry about replacing the (costly) post.I do wish the metal was a little firmer -- a few good whacks with the mallet deformed the "lip" where you're supposed to strike, and made it more difficult near the end to get a proper footing. it's also a little wider than a standard mailbox post so there was about a 1/4" gap between the edge and the post. Not a "problem", but if you're a perfectionist then it might be annoying.Whack it in, throw some screws in it and then continue onto the next thing on your list of "to do's".

Great way to save your fencepost
I have a post and rail fence, and have needed to replace several leaning posts over the last couple of years, especially right after the winter. This can be very expensive when a professional does the repair. Then I found out about this item, the EZ Mender, which allows you to easily reinforce an existing fencepost, even one that has begun to rot below the surface. The two steel frames are hammered into place on either side of the post, and then securely screwed to the post. Your post is now upright again and firmly reinforced at the base of the post below ground. I can't believe how easy and inexpensive this repair is.

Fence repair made easy
This fence repair spike made the job of repairing a 4"x4" fence post that had broken in the wind an easy fix. I borrowed my father's sledgehammer and did the repair myself. I am a woman in my 60's. The fence is now sturdy and plumb.

Just what I needed!
This product absolutely works as advertised. I had a few fence posts that went bad after about 10 years in the ground - one was actually sheared in half below ground during a wicked wind storm. The Simpson Strong Tie was very effective at strengthening both posts after installed. I will warn you - it does take quite a bit of effort with the sledge to hammer the tie between the post and the concrete (gave myself a headache). However, if you stick with it the results are amazing. After I got the first Simpson tie hammered and screwed in the post felt more secure; once I got the second tie in on the other side it was rock solid. The two posts I repaired are now the strongest posts on my entire fence by far. I also poured a bag of concrete into each hole for added strength as recommended in the instructions. We have had several extreme storms where I live in NJ the last few months and the posts have not budged at all. Great product!!

Leaning fence post partially straightened
I only installed one of these fence menders. It partially straightened a severely leaning 4x4 fence post. I only used one fence mender on one side of post (didn't have access to other side of fence). Was able to hammer fence mender into existing concrete footing, which was only a half to 3/4 inch thick, without splitting the footing. Footing was angled and shed pushing on opposite side of fence limited how much the post could be returned to vertical. Added more concrete to footing.

Excellent in every way
Had a leaning fence post that was causing two sections of my privacy fence to sag. I kept putting the repairs off because of cost, the fence is really still in good condition and I'm not much of a carpenter. Anyway, saw this product through Youtube demos and they came highly recommended in my online research. I can't begin to say how great these EZ fence menders are...they were exactly as described and installation was the easiest part of fixing the fence. My post was indeed rotted a bit at the bottom when I dug around it. I took a small sledge hammer and hammered them in the ground on the front and back of the post. A simple screw on each side to secure it and then I was pouring quik-crete in that hole and I was done. There are several Youtube video clips that demonstrate better than I can write about it. The quik-crete hardened in less than an hour and I proceeded to put the fence back together. If, like myself, you just want to perform a quick repair of a fence post and save yourself some cash, I can highly recommend these. My local retailer had a similar product, but it wasn't as long and they were twice the price.

Shipping and free returns
The product would not work on my fence post. Very disappointed with Amazon and your policy of charging for return of this the shadow. I'm. A long standing Amazon prime customer and feel I shouldn't pay the return charge for this..
