flooded basement
We had one before and the motor went out on it. We were getting water in basement from all the heavy rains and eventually we were getting wet. Looked it up and found one. Ordered it and was ready to clean the basement again. It worked great and we were so thankful we could find one that could replace what we had for the past 20+ years. Thanks again

Great Little Pump
I use this pump to let water out of our pool when the main pump is winterized. This is the third one I have had in approximately 30 years. They last a long time and perform as advertised.

Utility Pump
The pump looks to be of good quality. I use it for pumping water of my pool cover. May not be the best use of the pump but it works for me. The pump is a little loud but it pumps well. The pump comes with an inlet hose and several attachments.

Review of Mini-Vac utility Pump Kit
I used this pump to empty a water bed. I was in another room when I smelled something burning.I was the pump. It burned itself out before finishing the job. I don't know what it was designed to do but it was not up for this job.

VERY HIGH REPLACEMENT PARTS
This pump is a very small pump and it drains slowly but it does the job. I like it very much. I had one of these pumps for several years and the brushes in the motor went out. I called Simer and the parts and handling costs for a brush set are very high ($25-35) for this small part. This is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 4 stars. You might be better off buying a pump locally where the parts are sold cheaper. It seems Simer is trying to sell parts at a very high price and I don't like this part of the company at all. This probably is my last Simer pump.

Works quite well
This pump has enough suction to self-prime from 2 or 3 feet up. I always squirt a bit of WD-40 into the input just keep to wear on the impeller to a minimum. Good flow rate for a little guy.

Faulty and Dangerous
BLUF: This unit was a complete failure from the assembly line, starting on the drawing board. My father purchase this item to drain his flooded basement, and asked me to take a look at it when it would not pump (I'm a mechanical engineer and machinist). He had tried their customer service line, and they told him to put oil in the pump section. I tore it down, and lo and behold, the internal area is filled with epoxy and the entire inlet-to-outlet path is blacked on both ends. The impeller itself is also chewed up by the rough epoxy chunks hitting it when it spins. This drag caused the coupling to chew itself out of the impeller, and the whole thing is a mess. I've worked on assembly and manufacturing lines of similar products, and have a hard time accepting this as simply a single bad apple. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, was paying attention as this pump was assembled, and who ever filled the pump with epoxy should be sacked. As should who ever was in charge of making a final quality check. In addition: -This unit has no ON/OFF switch and must be manually un/plugged to start and stop. -The motor is a brushed unit and you are advised to throw the whole thing out when that dies. -The UL and CSA listings are not appropriate. This is not rated for use in wet environments, exactly the environment it is designed and intended to be used in. -Replacement parts are expensive. -Call the customer service line 15-minutes before "normal business hours" and you're told to call back without an option to leave a message. This is the sort of thing you would expect to find at Harbor Freight for $20, not Amazon for $76-110.
