OX Pro Sealant Gun 400ml

Mediocre. Not awful, just annoyingly mediocre.
The media could not be loaded. I bought first the S&R 18:1 ratio gun which was excellent, but only took 310ml cartridges, and in my view it would be silly to pay the same £20 price but get a good gun that only works with some stuff but not the other. The Ox gun is inferiour in most ways, most importantly the engineering. It has these two separate metal thumbs joined together, whereas the really good ones, like the S&R, have a cylinder which fits much more snugly around the rod. You can feel the smoothness there which is very satisfying, but with the Ox you get the squeaks.Secondly, while the dipped handles are a good idea, they are too big. A tiny bit, to be sure, but just enough to annoy you. And very possibly tire your hand more with lengthy work.Thirdly, and this is tricky to explain, but very important, like most of the guns out there, the top rivet on the handle, i.e. the one that pushes, is behind the pivot rivet. On the good (higher ratio) ones, it is slightly ahead. This means that with the latter, the pushing rod is alrready travelling away (downwards) from the piston, so the push is tangential, making for a smoother and powerful (but shorter) push. On this one, as with most others, the push is straight along the piston axis, which which gives a lower ratio and makes work harder.Ox pretend to have offered value added with the addition of a screw which controls the contact point and in a way tries to offer a higher ratio. But it's a half-baked job. The screw is too short and they have deliberately made the hole at the back too small, so that to replace the screw you have to dismantle the whole gun... But this is where the poor/cheap engineering becomes obvious: if you were to use a longer screw to make the handle begin to push the two metal plates later, you just introduce more play in the handle and this is because the plates are too loose around the main rod. In the video, this is visible even with the original screw fully tightened: see how much the handle moves without the rod budging, simply the plates swing back and forth....I would not recommend this gun. If you are happy to spend this money ona 310mml-only gun, get the S&R. Otherwise look elsewhere.

Great - Easy to Use and Pull - Even easier to replace. With good even pressure and spread of silicon
I like how easy this gun is to get a nice constant flow going. Although I do recommend id your doing a shower or bath, to buy some nononse silicon tools. Or for wooden floors between the floor and skirting boards where you want a nice flat finish look for square tool with a sharp point. Those 2 oieves of kit can do it all with this gun. Easy to open, and replace the tubes, nice even pressure too. Just remember ehen you want the silicon to stop coming out - especially when it is not empty, you have to click the pin at the back and the silicon will stop coming out. Simple - Easy and I am hapoy I choose this more expensive gun. I make ovc doors for my job, and they have lots of "Ox" brand Tools which is what made me search for this type of gun to begin with.

Good, but not thee best!
I'm primary a double glazing fitter by trade so use these things daily, and while these are far superior to the original skeleton guns, they are not thee best. I much prefer the Screwfix own brand as I feel it has the most control along with ease of use on my not so young wrists.

Top quality!!
Where has this been all my life!! Can't believe I've gone this long buying cheap silicone guns only for them to break half way through a job. This is top quality and makes life so much easier especially if it's a cold day amd your using something like grip fill.

Nice to use
Had several silicone guns in the past, but this does what its supposed to and effortlessly pumps from the tube. Easy twisting enables you to angle the nozzle to follow contours. Solidly built allowing for a lot of pressure to be applied without the thought of snapping the gun.

Genuine, lovely gun
Will use it for the next 120+ doors, this week. It’s a replacement for another branded name gun which disappointed me. Would like to add that I am great full to Amazon customer service which offers the possibility of returning and swapping items. Thank you.

It did the job and is sturdy
I have used cheaper versions and hated them. This was an easy one to use and I feel worth the money, as long as it lasts ... then I am pretty happy with it. Used it for sealing up a shed and it worked.

Well worth the money.
Feels and handles like a more expensive unit. Mechanism is sturdy and works very evenly. Very recommendable.
