a must for the Rammstein fanatic
My order was delayed as Universal fixed the problems other reviews have discussed, but now that it's here it was well worth the wait. I've been listening to Rammstein since the age of 16. I am now 31 years old, and I am still amazed and appreciative of how this band evolves with each album release. The box set is a great time capsule for long-time fans, and even though I briefly hesitated at purchasing (the usual thoughts: "so expensive! and don't I have most of this anyway?") I suspected Rammstein would come through again in making this a worthwhile purchase. The presentation: Everything is nestled in a metal case with the Rammstein logo printed on top. My box even has a little discoloration from rust starting to form, so I suspect each box has a little variance to make it unique. The contents of the box are wrapped in a white cloth which unfolds into a cross, bearing the Rammstein logo and the years the set covers. The CDs: Another reviewer has discussed the engineering and remastering of the songs, so I will simply say that the remixes are a nice addition, especially since I'm usually not too interested in their appearances on singles. These are the "best of the best" remixes. The DVDs: This is what makes the box set for me. Every video has a 'making of' special. Of primary interest to me was the "Stripped" documentary, as I just turned in a college final on Rammstein's utilization of Leni Riefenstahl's footage a week ago. The 'making of' for this particular video features recent interviews with the video's director and members of the band. The candidness of the band offers a great deal of insight into how they approach videos for their songs. The videos are strong enough to stand on their own; however, the documentaries only add to how I appreciate the videos. This makes for literally hours of Rammstein viewing. The book: I own the original Rammstein book from 2001, and the Volkerball limited edition book. The images in the box set book have very little overlap with either of these books, so I'm satisfied that these are overall truly never-before-seen images. My only complaint is that the book for this collection is sized just as a CD. The images would have benefited from a larger presentation. However, it is a thoughtful addition and very well-done, with a hard cover and bookmark ribbon. The book also comes cased in another metal sleeve, with rice paper to wrap your book so that it does not get scratched from placing it in and out of the metal. If you're a dedicated Rammstein fan, this box set is certainly worth your money.

Majority of Rammstein popular songs.
Got this as a birthday present for my husband who's a fan. I can always tell when its been a bad day at work for him when I hear this blasting from the driveway so I appreciate the heads up lol! And I like how it has most of the songs I'm familiar with despite not speaking a word of German (husband can). Only down side I have is it doesn't have ich tu dir weh (yes i know what that songs about, but I love the beat and Till's growly voice). It's a great cd otherwise.

I Like this Release a lot especially with the second disc of Remixes which I enjoy very much so if you’re interested in buying I would Recommend the Two Disc version.

Very Nice Set If Price Is Right
I recieved mine from amazon a pre-order without a hitch, and at a really good price from where it is now. I knew there were some issues occuring in the manufacturing (see other reviews and Rammstien's website), and was very pleased when this shipped on time. Arrived in great shape, no dents. All of the CD's were in place and correctly sorted, printing appears intact on otter tin shell, and on book sleeve. Binding on book is very good. The only thing I noted was a few grey stains on white covering cloth that would be consistent with an unwashed sanded metal case. Not a big deal. So for the content. This has the new track Mein Land, very cool, along with a good selection of songs from each Rammstien album on disc one. Second disc has the "best of" remixes compiled from the many rammstien singles. I'm not impressed with remixes, but i like the idea rammstien decided to pull some of these together to get more of their scope of work in this box. The part that is the best is the final 3 dvd's of this set. Spread across them are all of the Rammstien videos and the makings of. Very cool, and fills in where Lichtspielhaus left off. The book (240 pages) is very cool and comes nicely bound in a hardcover that fits into a metal slipcase that's all the size of a cd and as thick as about 3-4 digipacks, with some great pictures that remind me why they are such a great live show (saw them on the Mutter tour, the last time they fully toured the USA). For the money I paid for it (50% of the cost) than going price, very worth it. If you didn't catch the break I did, and due to the problems and now very limited quality, the two disc deluxe version set and Lichtspielhaus would likely due fine unless you are very hardcore and want the dvd's. The current price is the only reason I would not give this set a 5 star review and say all fans should run out and get this. Should it fall, I would say great value and get it.

RAMMSTEIN
I HAVE SEVERAL CDS BY RAMMSTEIN AND HAVE ENJOYED ALL OF THEM. NOT ONE OF THEM WERE LESS THAN EXPECTED. AS FAR AS HEAVY METAL IS CONCERNED, RAMMSTEIN IS TOP SHELF. THEIR MUSICIANSHIP IS EXCELLENT AND THEIR LEAD SINGER IS A PHENOMENON. HE IS CLEARLY WITHOUT PEERS IN THE HEAVY MENTAL GENERA. IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THEIR WORK, VOLKERBALL IS VERY GOOD, BUT THEIR REISE REISE IS A GOOD PLACE TO START IF YOU ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH THEIR MUSIC. ONE OF THE INTERESTING THINGS ABOUT THIS HEAVY METAL GROUP IS THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE ALSO WROTE AND RECORDED SOME VERY BEAUTIFUL BALLADS. THE MUSICAL RANGE OF THIS GROUP IS QUITE UNIQUE AND I BELIEVE THAT THEIR CAPABILITY OF CREATING A VARIETY OF MUSIC REFLECTS A VERSATILITY THAT CLEARLY STANDS OUT FROM THE CROWD. PERSONALLY I WOULD BUY ANY OF THEIR ALBUMS BECAUSE THEIR RECORDS ARE MUSICALLY SOLID AND THEIR LYRICS OUTSTANDING.

The Germans are really good at precision. Their technology, their engineering, their cars. And Rammstein have taken that work ethic and put it to music. To not like them is insane. Regardless of your taste in music, there is nothing like them on the planet. The spectacle they create is unsurpassed and to not be even slightly curious is sad. Not for them, they don't need us. But sad for you, as you really are missing out. Shock rock and the like is so passée, KISS and Alice Cooper still do it, and still do it well, but the world is desensitized. Even Mr Manson is only a curiosity. But Rammstein have found the gap, they have located what is missing and they give it to us in spades. Watching them live can not be described, but if you know someone who has seen them, watch their expression when you ask about it. It is almost biblical. Now you have a chance to own their best of, which in my opinion is missing a few gems. but I think the intention here was to have a collection of their singles, so you could have the real bonus, which is the collection of videos. No one, and I mean no one, has videos like Rammstein. You get all their videos, uncut, accompanied by a making of documentary for each and every one. That alone is worth the price of admission.
