I love these guides
I love these guides, I have a dozen, and I love them. They're small, but fold out big. A dozen doesn't weigh a pound, so it's an easy carry, and the guide is very easy. It's not like reading a textbook. If you'd like to identify your surroundings, these are the way to do it.Anecdotes and their explanations, the whys and hows while still being easy to read.

Handy if incomplete
When I was a kid I wanted to be a meteorologist. I had all the cloud types memorized. That was many years ago and I no longer remember such things and my son and I are constantly wondering what type of clouds we are seeing and what they mean - and portend for the weather.Another reviewer complains that it is incomplete and contains incorrect material and that there are better options out there. The reviewer complained that there are 27 cloud types but About.com says there are 10 basic cloud types. I ordered this precisely because there were no better options that I could find. In the absence of better options, I guess I will use this.Whether out of simple curiosity like that or for hikers and those who want to be prepared for emergencies, the Folding Pocket Guide to Clouds is great. It's slim, it folds easily out and can be put away easily in a glove compartment or a backpack, or even in the pocket of your hiking pants. I will mark it down to 4 stars for being incomplete but it's still better than I had before, which was nothing.

Great for kids!
Ordered this for my 5yo son, to aid with cloud identification in our nature studies. We homeschool, using Charlotte Mason's methods. It's been perfect! Has clear pictures of different cloud types, with brief descriptions. We keep it near some windows with a great view of the sky and use it every day as we record our weather observations. We haven't used the other parts about weather yet, but he is asking questions about those pictures and I anticipate it will be helpful when we get to those topics. As an added bonus, the laminated format has allowed it to withstand abuse from his 1yo brother. Tip: We also love the other guides in this series, and many of them qualify for the 4-for-3 promotion.

Very handy little guide.
Very handy little guide. I keep it in my truck to ID unusual could formations...which we seem to be getting a lot of lately.

Cloud Chart
I found it limited in its description and photos of cloud formations. The heavy-duty construction is a plus for outdoor viewing.
