The first tales of Barry Allen, a.k.a. the Silver Age Flash, are collected here in their entirety in this new edition of the bestselling hardcover The Flash: The Silver Age Omnibus Vol. 1 ! This massive title collects the earliest Silver Age adventures of The Flash, including the origin story of Barry Allen. Other the first appearances of his sidekick, Kid Flash, fellow detective The Elongated Man, and much more. With new trade dress matching the rest of the Omnibuses from this collection, this oversize hardcover is a must-have for any serious collector. Collects SHOWCASE #4, #8, #13 and #14 and THE FLASH #105-132. Review: Highly Entertaining Stories That Kicked Off the Silver Age! - THANK YOU DC for finally re-releasing this omnibus using the "Golden/Silver/Bronze Age" trade dress that has become so popular the past few years. This volume contains the first seven years of Silver Age Flash stories. It is easy to see why these stories revitalized the superhero genre and kicked off the Silver Age. They are highly entertaining and hold up well! The writing of John Broome and the art of Carmine Infantino can't be beat! Besides the fun that John and Carmine had with creative super-speed elements of The Flash himself, this volume introduces one of the most memorable rogues galleries in comic book history! Captain Cold, Dr. Alchemy, Mr. Element, Gorilla Grodd, Mirror Master, Weather Wizard, the Trickster, Captain Boomerang, and Abra Kadabra - they're all here! Not only that, but The Flash boasts one of the most memorable supporting casts as well. Kid Flash and the Elongated Man make their debuts and star in backup features that are included in this volume. The Flash also kicks off the DC multiverse with the classic "Flash of Two Worlds" story reprinted here, reintroducing the Golden Age Flash to comic fans and adding him to the supporting cast. As a bonus, the Golden Age Flash's final story from the forties is included. Lastly, most Flash issues contained two short stories but there are also five full length stories contained within, including two team-ups with Kid Flash, two with the Golden Age Flash, and one with Green Lantern. Are there ANY flaws? Just one, but I couldn't bring myself to remove a star for it (if I could I would rate 4 1/2 stars). There is an issue of Green Lantern from this time period that includes a team-up with the Flash that should have been included (the story appears in the Silver Age Green Lantern Omnibus Volume 1). I say "should have" because The Flash is a true co-star of the story. Other than that one issue, this is a must-have omnibus for fans of The Flash! Review: Best SA run - outstanding printing, color and stories make this a fantastic run....the best deal ever for 12 cents.....outstanding value, I read one story a day along with a couple of other titles...just super

Great Stories + Extras
This was the first time I had bought an omnibus like this one and I can say that I am overjoyed and ready to read it. While I was looking through the table of contents I noticed that there is an extra issue in this collection that is not listed in the description. It comes with The Flash #104. Like I said before canโt wait to read it then get the next volume.

Love SA Flash!!
I've got all three volumes of Flash: The Silver Age Omnibus, with the REAL Flash, not THE Flash, produced by Filmation, for The Superman/Aquaman Hour of Adventure, where none of his foes from the comics appear!

The first hero of the Silver Age.
This omnibus includes one story from Flash Comics 104, sand all the stories of the Flash and his friends from Showcase 4, 8, 13, 14, and The Flash 105-132. Flash Comics 104 had the last solo story of the Golden Age Flash for more than ten years. It retold his origin. Then we get the first story of the Silver Age Flash. It began the superhero revival. It is similar to the story in Flash 104. Barry Allan was not only the first superhero of the Silver Age. He was a comic book collector who was inspired by his favourite superhero. We get The Flash 123, Flash Of Two Worlds, which reintroduced the Golden Age Flash and three of his enemies; the Fiddler, the Shade, and the Thinker. That is another important comic book. It began the reintroduction of the Golden Age heroes and villains. Like Flash Comics 1-104, The Flash did not only have stories of the Flash. Some issues have back-up stories of the Elongated Man and Kid Flash which do not always have the Flash in them. The Flash's Rogues Gallery is almost as good as Batman's and better than Superman's or Wonder Woman's. In this omnibus you will meet Captain Cold, Mr. Element, Mirror Master, the Pied Piper, the Weather Wizard, Captain Boomerang, the Trickster, and Super Gorilla Grodd. I recommend this as a good introduction to superhero comics for boys and girls of 7-10. Boys will like it because they want to be the Flash, Kid Flash, and Elongated Man. Girls will like these stories because they will admire Iris West (Flash's girlfriend and Kid Flash's aunt) and Sue Dibny (Elongated Man's wife)

A glorious hefty tome!
Not new to comic books, but I am new to Flash comics. This is my first experience with them and I am delighted. The glossy printed pages and bright colours of the Silver Age are really appealing. I love the dust jacket, though the hardcover underneath is plain. I also like that the borders are over 1cm away from the centre fold so no matter how far into the book you are, none of the comics are obscured. That was my worry with such a large volume. It can be uncomfortable on my lap so I prop it up with a cushion for comfort. Works perfectly. If you are new to The Flash and want to start with Barry Allen, this is a good place if you like older comics too.

A pleasure
This omnibus has been out of reach for quite a while so it was a pleasure to finally get the new release of the volume. Bought the first volume of the TPB set but the omnibus version is far superior with lovely line work and colouring (as well as wonderful stories and art). Many of the classic Flash villains are first seen here. The book also includes the last GA Flash which is pretty odd (and not included in the TPB version). The articles included are standard fare (but still very informative) but I would love to see the omnibus editions include more bonus material such as the Direct currents, ads from the period, unused art, original pages, sketches etc but that is more a feature of the Marvel's volumes. This is a totally recommended volume and will take many days to read thoroughly through before it joins volume 2 and 3 on the groaning bookshelf
